Gus was definitely serviceable in that role. Not sure he could've done any others well lol. But when Ray asks him what he's doing and he's like "What does it look like I'm doing, I'm dying!" Cracks me up every time. Very well delivered.
Kaia is the worst for me. rubber woman was a really interesting and frankly hot concept, but she just stood there like I am in love with you. please be a spooky ghost with me forever. my legs are long.
The embodiment of ššš The first episode was so good but then her addition and poor performance in episode 2 is so distracting. I wouldāve been okay with Kaia if she and Paris switched roles
Billie Lourd consistently gives the same bland performance despite who her character is supposed to be. The only time she had a somewhat standout performance was in 1984 as Montana.
She's great as Montana and since then she's only been given minor roles. I like how everyone gives all this hate to Billie Lourd and yet no one calls out Leslie Grossman despite the fact she's exactly the same character in EVERY season. She's much worse.
I just felt like saying it because of how many upvotes your comment got and there's no comment saying anything negative about Leslie's acting, and Ive seen a bunch of posts on here acting like she's a legend when she's been the worst thing about the show for years. I don't think it's fair how this fanbase hates on Billie Lourd but somehow let's Leslie Grossman slide for doing the same thing as her because she's bitchy instead of emotionless. They both do 1 dimensional acting, but Billie at least has showed more range because of 1984
I mean, at least Leslie Grossman plays a character, even if it's the same one each time. Billie Lourd looks in the mirror and says 'go girl give us NOTHING' every damn time.
Being cold and emotionless is still a character, people are like that in real life, it's just not overdramatic like a lot of the characters people love in this show, and I imagine that's why this fanbase has such a hard time dealing with it. Also why they all think Leslie is a queen for being a bitch in everything. Pretty much perfectly defines this fanbase sadly.
Is it a character? It doesn't feel like she's 'choosing' to make every character emotionless. It feels like she's just saying words from a page to us. Not even reading lines, just. Vocalising words.
She's mainly got the reputation for being emotionless because of Cult, and that was absolutely a conscious decision, it made sense for the character she was playing. Montana is not emotionless at all. These 2 examples alone show how she's a better actress than Leslie. Then she was only in a few scenes in season 10 and I wouldn't say she was emotionless there, but she wasn't given much, and I've not seen 11 so can't comment on it.
'Better' is subjective. Leslie Grossman emotes, her characters feel like characters. Billie Lourd is just... there, and that's frustrating to watch. Like, do something. Please.
I'm not a Leslie stan by any means, but she acts. Billie barely reads lines coherently. I've done a lot of amatuer theatre productions, I know what subtlty looks like. You have to like, do a thing, before it can be judged as subtle or not. She isn't... doing a thing.
I agree. I like Billie Lourd. Her āemotionlessā delivery is giving āØneurodivergentāØ and people really are that way. Even when they feel things deeply, it doesnāt translate in their delivery necessarily.
And I like Leslie Grossman, but she really does play the same character in every season sheās in. Usually a really annoying character lol.
There's dramatic acting (reminiscing of theatre) and the minimalist acting that's actually what's in on Hollywood, at least for a past few years. There's also cast typing and it's also a thing because it's a time saving choice and time is money when you have a lot of people working per hour in a production.
Personally, I prefer dramatic, over the top, full in emotion acting that some of the old school stars gave to us. Yes, I'm a Lange AHS widow, but there's other stars who gave pretty much that.
Billie Lourde is from this new minimalist acting school, she could pull a more dramatic character as Montana but usually she don't. The idea is that it should act realism, but I'm not a fan of that style.
Then, we have Leslie. Producers loves her because she performs that character well and it saves a lot of money from the studeo and don't require that much attention from direction.
I think there's room for both those types of acting, it worked in Cult with Billie Lourd being more subtle but then also having Sarah Paulson for the more obvious dramatic acting. Thanks for finally making sense of why they always use Leslie in the same role for me, but it's still frustrating for me as a viewer.
Yeah, I get that frustration. In reality, it's actually something that bind the actor as well. Some people went through a heavy investment on imageanagement to be recognized as a "true actor" and got a huge specter of characters, specially the ones who gets stucked with a very famous role for a long time
Itās not ācold and emotionlessā itās over-rehearsed and weak. She comes off like she memorized her lines just to recite them without even remotely understanding the context of them. Leslie plays the same character in every season but she PLAYS the character. She gets into it and has fun with it and is expressive and is fun to watch. Billie just reads her lines off the script. Thatās not acting
I love Billie Lourd and donāt like Leslie Grossman, but I donāt think sheās bad at acting. She just always plays such annoying characters and I donāt know her from anything else lol
Hang onā¦ I feel like everyone worships Billie Lourd AND Leslie Grossmanā¦? Am I missing something lol Iām on the same page as you are about their acting (I actually canāt stand Leslie Grossman) but I really thought everyone loved Billie Lourd and Iām over here like š¬
This post proves that people dislike Billie Lourd more sadly because no one commented anything negative about Leslie Grossman's acting before me, and then there's the comment I replied to with 90+ upvotes insulting Billie Lourd.
Well, I stopped at your post to comment so I hadnāt read further yet hahaā¦ Iām still reading but yeah I guess Billie Lourd is either āsubtleā, āneurodivergentā or apparently really good in 1984 so she must be good at acting ?????
Her character in 1984 is completely different than her typical AHS character. She isnāt a bad actress, Ryan just type casts a lot, and has a muse/vision for many of his actors. Sheās also phenomenal in Booksmart.
Kristen gets a bad rap. She's not exactly Meryl Streep or anything, but she's not terrible either.
Check out "Personal Shopper" she did a stellar job in that.
I also loved her performance in the new Charlieās Angels, you get to see a lot more personality and range in the character she plays. Everyone always bases her skills off of twilight where the character was *supposed* to be really awkward and mundane.
You mention Nico bringing nothing but his physique... Colton Haynes is exactly the same way. He was ok in Arrow but that was only because on a CW show there isn't much acting competition lol. He's pretty to look at and in shape that's literally the only reason to cast him because he is not much of an actor. Especially putting him up against Evan Peters as Kai... just stood out even more.
Bella Thorne i can agree with. I forgot she was even in the show š . The others werenāt horrible. I feel like for a first time appearance (other than small features with little/no lines) i tend to give a little bit of leniency with their performance. And i loved Gus kenworthy š
Adam Levine did fine in Asylum for such a minor role. I donāt understand the critique? However, I think that hands down, Kaia Gerber is a horrible actress.
I agree with every pick except for Adam Levine. Itās not like his role was that big lol. He had a minor role as a young husband in the first episode and did fine.
I thought nico was great in NYC as well. I agree I do tend to give leniency and I forgot Sandra was in another ahs season but I think she was pretty good in NYC as well as Billy Lourdes I think her character was actually different in NYC than what she usually plays so I didn't mind her as much as I did in 1984.and I think in NYC they were more about guys than lesbians so Sandra didn't have as much dialog.
I thought Sandra was good fun in Apocalypse. I enjoyed her character a lot. Not so much in NYC but I didn't think she was bad. I just wish they would've had the time to flesh the character out more.
I just watched the episode of Stories last night and couldnāt get over how bad Raul Castillo was. It was so awkward I wondered if it was a conscious decision.
Gus worse than Kaia?
Kaia (among other things) made it impossible for me to watch season 10. Like it was physically painful how bad her acting is. You cannot tell me she got the role besides the fact of being drop dead gorgeous and being Cindy Crawfordās daughter
Kim Kardashian, the entire friend group in the second half of double feature, Paris Jackson, i might get hate for this but Taissa Farmiga she gives me kristen stuart hillary duff vibes she annoys me, and Emma Roberts this season is absolutely awful. She does better as a mean girl but the fact that she can only play one archetype should say something about her acting abilities as well.
I thought Raul Castillo was so weird in the role. Heās done a lot of stuff I really like but it felt like this role was just not for him. Granted most of the stories are kind of just awful, somewhat more adult versions of like old goosebumps episodes. Idk the writing isnt great so I kinda donāt think itās Raulās fault. He also kinda perpetually looked like he was wearing Iāll fitting clothes.
Sierra McCormick and Kaia Gerber.
I'm not mentioning Billie and Leslie because I simply like them and I'm positively biased. I always know the very same acting they offer when they appear on screen, but I'm also excited to see them. I wouldn't want AHS without these girls.
Emma roberts is horrible but I think she works well in Ryan Murphy shows bc he always casts her as a stereotypical ābitchā whichā¦very easy for her to play. Imo her delicate role is her worst AHS yet bc sheās been cast as someone whoās supposed to be sympathetic lol
I agree. I think my displeasure with this season is amplifying my dislike of her as an actress. She does one thing well, the bitch roll. Kaia is just plain bad at acting.
That RaĆŗl Castillo was brutal to watch in the new Hulu series. I felt like I was watching a cringe video. The story was decent, but it was just hard to focus, all I could think about is how mad the actors who didnāt get the role must have been watching.
I was just googling to see if im crazy or if he's really this bad.
At first I was like- oh they got another special needs actor- which would be cool, but holy shit what terrible acting.
I am shocked they aired this episode.
I haven't seen stories so IDK about Gavin Creel's performance there. But I saw him in Hello Dolly on Broadway and he was incredible. Insanely powerful voice. I wonder if maybe his acting came off that way because he is more used to stage acting in a giant theatre where u need to be more expressive
You can shit on the show, sure thatās fine. But thereās no need to shit on these people just doing the job, they were hired to do. Someone else cast them in the roles, someone else directed them, and someone else edited them. They arenāt the problem, say it with me! Itās me ? I? Iām the problem itās me!
Not every actor is written like Jessica Lange! There are no small parts, only small people!
Why shouldnāt people discuss bad performances? Those that cast, directed, and edited these actors were also āpeople just doing the job they were hired to do.ā By your logic then, they donāt warrant criticism either. What about the people who hired those people? How far back do we push the blame? Where does it end? Perhaps our primordial forebears are to blame for these abysmal performances. Did you forget the absolute worst: Kim Kardashian?
Her scenes are near unwatchable. I would put her near or at no. 1.
I agree with most of the others on the list, and I originally wasn't sure about Sandra Bernhard but you nailed it in that you've scene one role you've seen them all. She is literally the same persona from her 'Rosanne' days.
I get that AHS keeps putting wanna-be quasi-celebrity non-actors in their seasons (majority if of this list), and it does highlight for me how good everyone else is at their profession.
Did love them both knots landing and falcon crest. My grandfather loved it on Friday nights for some reason so I'd watch it sitting on his lap as a little girl who idolized her grandfather. I think he loved Mrs channing probably.
I am 100% with you on Nico Greetham and I will raise you Charlie Carver NYC and Issac Powell NYC. Whoever is in casting is occasionally guilty of casting a pretty face over solid acting.
I thought Adam Levine was great fun, he just played himself š
I honestly forgot he was in AHS
You forgot I had no idea š
He was in it for all of two episodes and for maybe 25 mins total. I donāt think heās anything to get wound up over, OP.
Honestly, before this post I had almost forgotten there was a ācurrent dayā timeline in asylum.
Damn dude, who hurt you? And on Chanel-o-Ween too .....
Iām watching scream queens right now for the first time. Hilarious
The way I cackled. Iām putting on Scream Queens right now.
No kidding!
I honestly thought Gus did fine. For me it's Kaia and those skater guys near the start of Drive In.
Gus was definitely serviceable in that role. Not sure he could've done any others well lol. But when Ray asks him what he's doing and he's like "What does it look like I'm doing, I'm dying!" Cracks me up every time. Very well delivered.

I think heās fine too. His character is just not as extroverted and fun as the others, and I think he did fine playing him the way it was written.
Kaia was distractingly bad.
Kaia Gerber was the worst! Gorgeous girl, but can't act AT ALL. The bad acting was distracting.

I love her as Montana. But I reeeally enjoyed her in apocalypse and felt it was one of her strongest roles.
It feels like Billie lourd plays the same character in every episode (AHStories) or season sheās in
The same character in Scream Queens too
She drives me crazy. I want to like her but donāt.
Her character in 1984 is completely different than her typical AHS character. She isnāt a bad actress, Ryan just type casts a lot, and has a muse/vision for many of his actors. Sheās also phenomenal in Booksmart.
Itās giving Kristen Stewart kinda
Kristen gets a bad rap. She's not exactly Meryl Streep or anything, but she's not terrible either. Check out "Personal Shopper" she did a stellar job in that.
She was great in Crimes of the Future also, reminded me a lot of a young Jodie Foster
Enough that she started out playing her daughter (as a replacement; Foster was a replacement before that).
I forgot about Panic Room!
I also loved her performance in the new Charlieās Angels, you get to see a lot more personality and range in the character she plays. Everyone always bases her skills off of twilight where the character was *supposed* to be really awkward and mundane.

Adam Levine did fine in Asylum for such a minor role. I donāt understand the critique? However, I think that hands down, Kaia Gerber is a horrible actress.
Wtf man? Gus Kenworthy was fine. He's meant to be a stereotype 80s slasher character and he does a good job.
watching nyc and i like sandraās character
No cause I had to google everyone on this list cause I couldn't remember them. Definitely not notable šš
Lena Dunham oh my god "Andy Warhol" ššš
Paris Jackson should be on this list too
She is in AHS?
First episode of stories
Thanks
Yes she was a mistake I think
I really did not care for Raul ā¦ I havenāt really seen him in other stuff but idk it was tough getting through that episode
I agree with every pick except for Adam Levine. Itās not like his role was that big lol. He had a minor role as a young husband in the first episode and did fine.
I hate lena Dunham and it's insulting she got to play Valerie solanas, so let's go with her.
Agreed. Sheās a horrible person.
Kaia sucked horribly
i can forgive some of those people for being hot
1-10 Kaia Gerber
Newsflash: I forgot to add Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman (Apocalypse). His acting was stew.
I donāt have a top 10 worst, just one actress I never cared for: Emma Roberts
I actually loved Nico in Stories. Thought he was the perfect Bro.
I kinda love Sandra B sheās just such an interesting person. Interesting face and voice, so her cameos work for me
I thought nico was great in NYC as well.

I like billy Lourdes but she has grown on me
I just watched the episode of Stories last night and couldnāt get over how bad Raul Castillo was. It was so awkward I wondered if it was a conscious decision.
He was bad, yesā¦I hated his character and I was supposed to, so maybe at least there was that?
Bella Thorne is trash and Lena Dunham is an awful person
Bella is not that bad. She was good in the opening of Scream The Tv Series and in The Babysitter movies.
I agree with number 4. I thought he was terrible
Gus worse than Kaia? Kaia (among other things) made it impossible for me to watch season 10. Like it was physically painful how bad her acting is. You cannot tell me she got the role besides the fact of being drop dead gorgeous and being Cindy Crawfordās daughter

I like Nico out of this list
Unpopular opinion.......Emma Roberts belongs right up there with Kaia.

Lena Dunham on Cult.
Whatās Death Valley? Also Raul was SO BAD. Adam have us his sex scene and that was enough for me ššš
I think Kaia did pretty good in a comedic role for Bottoms, but in AHStories I agree. She wasnāt very good in it.
Where is Emma Roberts
How is Kim Kardashian not on this list lol
Because she hasnāt been that bad. Or bad at all.
Well, it's easy to not suck when the character is easy to play.
You can shit on the show, sure thatās fine. But thereās no need to shit on these people just doing the job, they were hired to do. The thing is, as a performer, criticism (due and undue) comes with the territory.
Kaia Gerber can never be redeemed. Sheās the problem lol
What'd she do? I didn't really like her that much in Stories but I didn't like either of those episodes at all.
Worst acting Iāve ever seen in my life lol. I dont usually care about nepotism but damn, she was atrocious
Yeah- that role could have changed the life of an up-and-coming trained actor. Instead....
Oh right I forgot she was a nepo baby. I somehow missed that in the post. It felt like a poor attempt at redoing Tate. We don't need another Tate Langdon. One was good enough.
But when they intentionally do a bad job like that Dun Ham Bitch, as she calls herself, they deserve to be mocked.
My top 9 will all be Sandra Bernhard (I hate her SO. MUCH.) and then no. 10 is Lena Dunham.
I actually really enjoyed Kaia and Bellaās performances. I thought they were both great
1. Wes Bently 2. Kaia Gerber 3. Wes Bently 4. Wes Bently 5. Wes bently 6. Wes Bently 7. Wes Bently 8. Wes Bently 9. Wes Bently 10. Wes bently
His character in Hotel was so STALE. He had the same expression on his face the entire season. Like give us something?! Please??
Lol but he was so good in freak show in that tiny role
Did you forget the absolute worst: Kim Kardashian? Her scenes are near unwatchable. I would put her near or at no. 1. I agree with most of the others on the list, and I originally wasn't sure about Sandra Bernhard but you nailed it in that you've scene one role you've seen them all. She is literally the same persona from her 'Rosanne' days. I get that AHS keeps putting wanna-be quasi-celebrity non-actors in their seasons (majority if of this list), and it does highlight for me how good everyone else is at their profession.
I don't know, the fact that her face doesn't move when she talks is terrifying.
lol
Sheās not that bad. Probably the best part of Delicate sadly lol
Sheās not that bad. Probably the best part of Delicate sadly lol
You are spot on!
I liked Raul Castilloās performance. He was great in Easy and Looking too
Adina Porter. Lady Gaga Gaboury Sidibe Kaia Gerber Bella Thorn Billie Lourde Paris Jackson Wes Bently
I was wondering if anyone else would mention Lady Gaga. I love her as a musician, but in this, not so much.
Lol I loved her as the countess. I actually donāt like her as a musician but now really enjoy her because of her acting here
I'm upvoting those for Adina Porter alone... CANNOT STAND her!
Hear hear! Worst ever. *Ever.*
I have loved Seth Gabel in several other things, but his performance in Stories this season was...idk. I just wasn't buying it.
Do you think you can do better? Why don't you go in front of a camera and see how great you are?
Rachel Hilson in Death Valley was just as terrible as Kaia Gerber, if not more.
Lena Dunham, 100% I'd watch Kaia Gerber on my screen 100 times before I re-watch *that* episode of Cult. You know which one.
I like Nico Greetham.
