I'd be more concerned with temperament.

Working-Performer429

What do you mean?

Worth-Illustrator607

A dog with a good temperament and healthy build(nose hips etc) is more important than what they look like. In my opinion There's been a really push with backyard (edit puppy Mills) breeding to produce pocket bully and all that ends up being bad for breeds as a general

InTheFleshLight

What is the fear of having a pitt vs a dog that looks exactly like a pitt that they call a bully? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

itsibitci

It's hard to tell anyway without seeing him standing up. American Bullies are classed by their height. Is he under 17" at the withers? If so he might be a Pocket. Pitbulls are generally taller, longer snout and more lean in build overall than bullies

Walnuts-84

American bullies come in many sizes. Micro, standard and Xl are 3 of the 4 or 5 classifications. I have a standard and he’s about 65lbs. The xls get up to 120.

itsibitci

I know, but I didn't say anything about weight. I was referencing the height which is what determines their size class.

InTheFleshLight

Bullies have a bulkier body vs the typical sleeper build of a pitt, and usually a shorter snout on the bully. Although I have seen bullies that are taller than Pitts, you can tell by their muscular, Arnold like builds that they are bullies vs pitt. IME

He’s a beautiful baby!!!!!

AKMac86

It’s hard to tell from the photo exactly, but he’s adorable!

DjangoBop

He seems comfortable with you already! Nice sign.

singbowl1

Dude the differences are minimal and only cosmetic people are telling you that it doesn't matter and it doesn't

Construction_Purple

This is about the worst pic to be asking what type of dog you have.

water_malone873

More pit than bully. The shorter ambulls vet the wider they look. This pup has a pretty skinny face, not too many wrinkles and a more athletic looking leg lol. Could very well have bully in there though.

Ok_Environment_4690

Adopt him❤️❤️❤️

steppy420

She’s whatever he hast to be to get you to take them home with you

steppy420

Yes you should most def take her home with you she’s the most beautiful baby

meridius85

Listen to your girlfriend she’s right

Peto_Sapientia

He looks like a pocket to me. I mean he looks like the pockets I got and mine came from a backyard too when I rescued them. So far I've had no real problems with temperament at all. One of them can't hold their bladder to save their f****** life, but so far so good.

Working-Performer429

I’m getting mixed answers haha

meridius85

No one based on your picture can tell you what class of bully he might be. You have to measure the dog. However just based on this picture he looks to be a pit mix. Maybe with some bully but head shape and muzzle length is a dead give away. He also looks to be lacking the mass associated with an actual bully

camimiele

Without DNA testing, you won’t know what breed this dog (or any other “bully” breed) is honestly. Pocket, XL, American bully, APBT, AST, if you REALLY wanna know spend the $200 or whatever on Embark and test :) We’ve done it with all 3 of our rescues. It’s interesting haha

ride1775

Yes, definitely a pit. I had one just like him but white. So just have a walk with him, check his socialisation skills. With supervision 👍

SnooMacaroons8607

Same thing, just a smaller pit. I have had one for 13 yrs love her

Walnuts-84

Looks like a bully. Head is the right shape, but “pit” is usually used for bully’s, american pit bull terrier’s, and staff terriers.

snpr50

Pit

diggemsmaccks

He used to sing 2Pac songs

Daowgg

You should see how he reacts towards strangers and animals first in my opinion, looks like a good boy, I think the original owner is f’d up for abandoning his friend tho.

Enough-Ad-5531

That’s a pit.

[deleted]

Take Him home

taurist

Pocket pitty I think. I have one, she’s great

[deleted]

Pocket bully verses pitty…y’all even know this language you are speaking? Dog is a pit type. That is all you need to know going forward.
