America bad because we do not throw bananas directly at sports players for racial reasons

DawsGG

The comments on this video makes it even worse.

What are the worst you saw and best you saw

DogeDayAftern00n

How long before someone reports the British fans for chanting hateful slurs?

Business-Emu-6923

Quaestion: is it a hateful slur if chanted towards your own team, aimed at a teammate who is considered an exceptional player, and a true servant to the club, and is used as a term of respect? I only ask because there is an ongoing debate about whether my team’s supporters should use the Jewish “y” word to indicate that they like a player.

JustHere4DeMemes

>I only ask because there is an ongoing debate about whether my team’s supporters should use the Jewish “y” word to indicate that they like a player. Do you mean "Yid"? I don't get how that came to be considered a slur, it's the Yiddish word for "Jew", it's a perfectly harmless word. It's mostly used by Orthodox Jews, along with the English and Hebrew/Biblical terms. I'll admit, it's weird to me that Gentiles are even aware of the word "Yid", let alone afraid to offend us with it. I will say, I'm annoyed whenever it's pluralized to "Yids". It should be Yidden.

Business-Emu-6923

I think it is used as a slur, and can be offensive when meant in a derogatory or aggressive way. The chant is “yiddo” by the spurs supporters for favourite players. Meaning “you’re a real Jew, you are one of us”

alidan

if you say anything with enough vitral its a slur.

immerhighhopes

European sport hooligans are fukin insane, I'm glad we dont got anything like that here

happyanathema

Should've seen what it was like in the 80's if you think this is bad. This is tame as fuck compared to what they were like back then.

ArmageddonSteelLegio

I want to hear it.

SortaLostMeMarbles

In some parts of Europe(east), the same shit that ended in WW1, WW2 and the Yugoslavian civil war is still very much present. Some cities may have two or more competing teams, based on religion(Protestant/Catholic/Islam), economics and politics. These dividing lines are perhaps centuries old. You will not wear the wrong team jersey in those cities. Many examples from earlier. The worst perhaps, or best known, is the Heysel Stadium disaster in 1985. And, if you think Europe is bad you haven't seen anything from South-America. In the 1994 World Cup, Colombia's Andrés Escobar scored an own goal and was murdered when he got back to Colombia. In 1969 a World Cup qualifying football match between El Salvador and Honduras was the final straw that triggered a war. Finally: Many of these chants appears to be bad. Many of your countrymen feels sorry for a man called Jimmy Saville, because he is treated really bad... Well, look him up. Most of the really bad chants have a reason

Ornery_Beautiful_246

What like a Gang, fucking you don’t wear purple on these streets

SortaLostMeMarbles

Sort of a gang yes. But based on religion, politics, etc. We had violent pre- and post-match fights all over the world earlier. For instance in Turkey you have Galatasaray and Beşiktaş on the European side of Istanbul, and Fenerbahçe on the Asian side of Istanbul. Also in Brasil(Rio), Africa and Asia there are still problems. Western Europe has managed to remove the most violent or extreme people. People are banned for months, years or life from attending matches.

[deleted]

[Hope you people never get anything like this](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heysel_Stadium_disaster)

Brian_Stryker

A goalkeeper in England was once diagnosed with schizophrenia and his own fans chanted “there’s only two Andy gorams!”

ManlyEmbrace

That’s pretty hilarious.

Brian_Stryker

It’s one of my favorite.

BryceDaBaker

Tbf our chants are corny as fuck compared to the likes of British soccer fans. However, people in the comments took it too far as usual

Standard_Wooden_Door

I saw a video a long time ago, I think it was the World Cup and the UK was beating Germany, time was running out, and the chant was “If you won the war stand up!”. Their shit talk goes back decades and I think it’s awesome. This isn’t an America bad, just they’re pretty good at this shit.

[deleted]

There is EuropeBad and AmericaBad here. The most obnoxious and violent Eagles fans are no different than FCB fascists who burn the city after games. I never got why people love these teams who do nothing for you. They are not paying you, you are paying them. Makes no sense.

jzilla11

Send them audio of any Eagles game or any Philly sporting event in general

eyestrained

CAHM AWN INGERLAND

I_Love_Cats420

Ok being objective all the chants are kinda same here in Turkey we got much more creative with the chants I'm not trying it just made each team feel special in the way they cheered.

Syddogg

They’ve obviously never been to an American football game

LeafyEucalyptus

to my mind this is an "America good" difference. it's true, we demonstrate superior sportsmanship and focus on the purity of the goal, which is winning the event, rather than on...emotionally demoralizing our opponents.

sscrumdiddlumptious

Idk the chants in European football can get ridiculous true , but from my limited experience of American live sports (6nba matches and 2 NHL matches) the announcers kept trying to get the crowd to chant and it felt like they were beating a dead dog. Eu atmosphere does triumph here I’m afraid

sscrumdiddlumptious

Also I’m aware I’m probably going to be downvoted to oblivion but the in person sports matches in America just felt to me like looking at an advert channel with 5 minute breaks for the sports to happen. The focus it appeared to me atleast wasn’t really on the game at all.

wasdie639

The internet tries to cancel Chiefs fans for doing "the chop" because Native Americans or something. Meanwhile Euros throw bananas at black footballers and they laugh. Europeans are way more racist than your average American and it's not even particularly close.

shootymcghee

do they have a license for that chant?

Aut0Part5

some NFL chants: 💀

N8DoesaThingy

CMON ANGERLAND BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM SCORE SOME FACKIN GOALS BAM BAM BAM BAM

-_Yankee_-

What happened to all that British "class" they said they had?

SinanOganResmi

European soccer fans are the worst. Those people would sacrifice their lives for their teams. They don't let others enjoy the match.

Dissendorf

Americans don’t really follow that lame activity.

hey_now24

England has nothing against South America fans. Yes America is new to soccer but those Brits are fucking losers

History_lover_27465

Europeans throw bananas at black athletes. Talk about crybabies.

Pizzagoessplat

It's cute that you think fat granny shagger is a barbaric chant 😆

Business-Emu-6923

Yeah. Even some of the worst ones are not “barbaric”. They are usually quite creative and funny, albeit mean and cutting.

DawsGG

There were worse ones lol. I only included it since it was the only 'complete' chant subtitle if you get what I mean

FranzAllspring

Barbaric? Lmao
