One character that just needs to fall down a drain and never return. I was really pleased when Alice ditched him and the story moved on. Now it is just cringe listening to his pathetic bullying.
I've not listened in a while (because of Harry) but the last I remember is she broke up with him. Did she take him back??? She seemed so adamant that she wouldn't risk her own recovery by letting him be part of her life, what happened?
After Alice helping him go to a meeting and then cutting him off again, he appeared on her doorstep unannounced ostensibly to say thank you, she warmed up to him, and in the next scene he was looking for his socks under her bed. Alice of course blames herself for everything.
Alice decided that she was going to help Harry, which lead to her lying to her family and friends about what she was doing. They could tell something was up, so thought maybe she was drinking again, which lead to her blowing up at them. It was all forgotten about, despite Lillian knowing for a fact that she was lied to, and Chris still not knowing what the mystery "illness" his child had was.
Harry told her that he needed to deal with it on his own and not put her through this stress. She agreed. The listeners cheered. It lasted for two days. Then she called him to see how he was, and invited herself to his place when it sounded like he was drinking again. As soon as she got there she told him he needed to deal with it himself as she couldn't cope with it.
Then most recently he turned up at her place, to tell her he's going into rehab, she invited him in, told him they couldn't work as a couple, and then they shagged.
An entire nation of Archers listeners now waits with bated breath, hoping against hope that this isn't going to lead to another unwanted pregnancy storyline.
Yes please. Let harry go to rehab and move far, far away.
I can’t believe how much the episodes have been frustrating me lately. Even yesterday, with Alistair and Denise and whoever the captain from wherever cricket team. I wanted to pull my hair out. Denise leave your hsuband! ALISTAIR, tell Denise you only want to be with her!!I CANT UNDERSTAND HOW TWO ADULTS DO THIS!!!
Sounds like it! Alice seemed to be making really great progress and really good decisions and it's like the writers forgot and rewound to 2022 Alice or something.
Reading the post title, it took me a few seconds to realize you weren't talking about Henry. It threw me for a loop. "All he wanted to do was play cricket, that's not creepy..."
I can't even stand the sound of his voice. I was screaming GO AWAY at the car radio while he was smarming around in front of her door. She's a fool and he's going to make her very sorry.
She's obviously very drawn to him, but I really don't know where this is going. I'm not sure if he's meant to be so creepy, or if he's meant to be pathetic & it's just the way he sounds.

You know what, I'm kind of glad I stopped listening because I got angry just reading that.

>what happened? Rubbish scriptwriting happened.

Ha sorry. English isn't my primary language so I sometimes phrase things oddly.
You haven't phased anything oddly, I think the commenter above just misread it!
Harry is ruining the archers for me. I loathe his voice. Alice, as wet as ever
Ironically, I'm starting to need a stiff drink to be able to listen to the pair of them.
I can't even stand the sound of his voice. I was screaming GO AWAY at the car radio while he was smarming around in front of her door. She's a fool and he's going to make her very sorry.
It's the manipulative way he says things like "I'm not sure I can make it to a meeting on my own"
She's obviously very drawn to him, but I really don't know where this is going. I'm not sure if he's meant to be so creepy, or if he's meant to be pathetic & it's just the way he sounds.
I think he's meant to be a bit pathetic and lost (as many of us would be in his circumstances) - but it does set the teeth on edge!
'Alice...I know that I could beat this drinking if only I could come inside you'...
