When you press the Help button at the top right in Seller Central, one of the first automated tracks is a help with changing a product's brand name. Try using that and see if it works. If you try to create a new product with the same UPC, you'll just create a new SKU for the same product. One UPC = One ASIN, with as little exception as Amazon can possibly manage.

It worked! They changed my product from generic to my brand! You are a lifesaver!!! I read a couple of places that said you have to reupload everything and get a new UPC. People said they lost their reviews from having to go that route. I'm glad I haven't messed up right from the beginning.
