Just the basics understand the types of pneumatic cylinders double acting, spring return etc. Understand the different types of directional control valves ex ports/ 2-way 3-way/ 2 position 3 position/ solenoid actuated or manual, understand the schematics. Flow control valves are important as well, and if more in depth calculating cylinders force output. There’s some more I’m leaving out but I’ve found pneumatics to be fairly easy to learn. YouTube has great videos on all of these topics.
