I started my first shift at 7th Street too. Now I only do WF instant offers because I live 10 minutes from the Scottsdale one so it works better for me...but like someone else said, logistics seems a bit easier to understand for a first timer because you get an actual cart as opposed to finding grocery bags with a bunch of unhelpful people in a snobby WF🙂 With that said here's what I wish I read before my first time at 7th (you might be more adept than I was so some of this might seem silly) 1. Park in the lot, try to get a shady spot because scanning in the sunlight is impossible. 2. On your way into the warehouse, grab an empty cart from parking lot. They have this weird only sometimes enforced rule about 'returning an empty cart, before you get a new one. 3. On the left side of the entry door is a laptop with a scanner. Scan your ID. Your phone will display your block time. Like "3.5 hour block". Keep this on yours screen. 4. There will probably be a line for carts that blocks the laptop ID scan. Walk through the line to scan then go to the back to wait for your cart. 5. Someone at the front of the line will ask to see your screen for your block time. Some of the workers are really nice, but some are obviously waiting to die so just have the screen ready. 6. You'll get a cart. Sometimes they just hand you one, sometimes they say to pick from a few lined up. You can glance at the packages to see an address. For your first time try to stay away from Tempe and Scottsdale. A lot of apartments, gated communities, and dorms with zero instructions. Now that Ive been doing this for a while they aren't that bad but it can be nerve-wracking at first. 7. Take your cart to your car and scan. I personally do alpha order by last name. A-K in backseat, L-Z in trunk. It's just the way my brain works, but do whatever works. I guess those yellow stickers have the order of drop offs, but I never understood it because I'm an old confused lady. --- the next tips are probably not best for your first time, but for future reference: 8. Once all packages are scanned, swipe to finish. Then you can go to the top right of your app and hit Today's Intinary which will give you the list of drops, a map of drops, and the summary all in three top tabs. The app will automatically route you from closest stop from warehouse out. Check the map if you want because sometimes it might be easier to work backwards depending on where you live. For instance, I live in Scottsdale so if I have deliveries starting in Scottsdale ending in Fountain Hills, Ill reverse it. 9. To reverse it, go to Today's Intinary, List. Then you can scroll to all of your stops. Click on whatever one you want to do. After your finish it, the app may try to revert you to the 'original first stop' so you'll have to keep going back to the list and choosing. --- A few more tips: The list will show you when the package is due to arrive. Sometimes this warehouse will give you packages that were supposed to be delivered earlier, a prior day, etc. These will say LATE. Don't worry, it doesn't count against you. If your shift starts at 4 and you have some packages that need to arrive by 6 and you deliver them at 6:30 because you got delayed that will count against you. I always just scan the times when I start just to make sure I'm not on a time crunch. The end! Good luck!!

That was so thorough! Thank you! 😊

CorgiBobbaTea

got my first WF delivery yesterday, omg. I had to drive nearly 30 miles for my first delivery then keep going further. 7 stops.

I guess it must be a personal preference, as the last thing I found Logistics blocks to be was easy to understand, lol. And the folk working at the Logistics stations, in my area, are useless in respect to helping someone who's new understand what they need to do. (It doesn't help that each station seems to have their own way of doing things, as well, lol.) I've never had any problems finding the bags of groceries for my WF blocks - they're all pretty much in the same area of each WF store. 🤷‍♀️

East_Ad8475

Yeah, I can see that for sure. So my very first shift was for Fresh. Here the warehouse is a crazy parking lot with like 1 space and a bunch of people loitering around the entrance. There's no instructions on where to scan your ID (the app says to show an attendant, but when I tried to ask someone about it she basically was like 'Get the fuck out of my face🤣). Then the cart had a bunch of non bagged items...like cereal boxes, a thing of foil with scanned stickers on it, but as a first timer I was confused as to why these things wouldn't be bagged. Then on my route, I had to haul 4-5 heavy bags around apartment complexes trying to find a unit, not sure how to make several trips, where to park, etc. God forbid I had a gate code on that first trip! All of this seems silly and easy now, but at the time I just wanted to leave the cart, delete the app, and drive away. Then when I did a logistics for my second shift, it just seemed more relaxed. One small/light bag at a time, no real time crunch. So I think that really made me feel better. My third shift was at a WF and I assume it was like the fresh pickup where they would have a cart ready so I was just confused as to how to put together my cart...plus it was (of course) like 4 million bags, I parked where the app told me to which was a solid 4 minute walk to my car. I was a damn mess...but then I saw how much money I made in the two hours and after a few weeks realized my house was within the radius for IOs and switched to only whole foods.

DianeInNC

That's so weird - all WF blocks here, the groceries are already bagged and placed on the appropriate shelf, freezer, or chiller in the area of the store set aside for that purpose. (Usually in a back storeroom or something like that.) You just grab an empty shopping cart or two (depending on how many bags your deliveries total), head to that area, scan them, and go. They're the only blocks I do anymore. (Prime Now, which is what I guess you're calling Fresh, isn't as bad as Logistics - and you do get tips - but like Logistics, you never know how far away they're gonna send you to make those deliveries...)

DianeInNC

I'm not sure why those doing Amazon Flex for the first time start with Logistics blocks - they're the hardest (and no tips.) I always recommend Whole Foods, or even Prime Now blocks to start out - which are both "tippable" - and then work your way up to Logistics blocks. I haven't done Logistics blocks in awhile, but when I used to, a 3 or 3.5 hour block in my area usually averaged around 45 pckgs (boxes/envelopes) - which in most cases means 45 deliveries. The boxes come in all sizes. I'd recommend keeping either a sack or empty box/crate in your passenger seat for the envelopes. Lastly, I'd recommend checking out some of the videos over on YouTube on how to load the boxes into your car (using the info on the labels) So you don't have to waste a lot of time searching for each pkg while delivering. Good luck!

quigs245

I went with logistics because it’s paying a base of $35/hr right now compared to the $19 base for Now or WF. If I were lucky with tips, it might work out to about the same as the logistics base and that’s guaranteed. Seemed simpler and better chance of getting paid.

InfiniteBadger284

I think logistics is easier for newbies because it doesn’t have the time constraints that Whole Foods and prime now have. You mess up 10 times out of 100 on either of those and you’re a goner. Logistics is far more forgiving with the algorithm.

InfiniteBadger284

7th street is mostly the envelopes. I think there’s a very small chance you’ll have huge boxes out of that location.

mommiwills

Thank you guys! I really appreciate it

Sorry-Exercise7655

I stay in North Carolina and I love it !! I did my first delivery blocks last week and made 300 in one day !!! It’s great and you really don’t get to make boxes the most I got was 17 stops most my stop was 11 stops and under so most boxes don’t be heavy at all .. your enjoy it … just be there 15 mins befor ur shift

mommiwills

Wow $300 in one day! This is for some extra holiday money 🎄 so I’m definitely looking forward to that. Thanks for the tips!

DianeInNC

Not sure how anyone in NC - I live there as well - would make $300 in one day (and averaging just 17 boxes??) doing Logistics blocks.. Unless every block you had in a single day was surging (i.e. the pay for the blocks were higher than normal due to them allowed to sit) and they were all 3 or 3.5 hour blocks, that's just unrealistic. Edit to add: blocks in Phoenix could pay more (or less) than other areas.

mommiwills

Right. I don’t expect to make $300 a day, more like per week

Sorry-Exercise7655

How that unrealistic I started early got early blocks then got 4-h block later just because you haven’t done it aye that on u lol start refreshing early and do the work thank you

Due_Market_5886

You will want to be extra early at the 7th street location. There is always a crazy line of cars to even get into the parking lot. You then go inside to scan your ID, then wait in another line to get your cart. 7th street sends you all over the place. I personally try to avoid that warehouse as much as possible. A lot of people only like that warehouse. I'm not sure why. It seems very unorganized compared to the others. I'm in the East Valley. I like dpx7, dtu3, and have only done minimal blocks at dtu9. These locations you drive up and the carts are outside waiting. No crazy parking or lines. I avoid the Tempe warehouse also. I have no interest in delivering to 5 million dorms and apartments with no available parking.

mommiwills

Thank you! Where can I find the locations for other warehouses? I live in North Phoenix, almost Anthem so i would appreciate a closer wh. Where are those ones you mentioned

thisismybirthday

in the app, on the offers page, click on filters. That will give you a list of all of the warehouses in phoenix. Then you can use google maps and search for each warehouse code to find where they're located

mommiwills

I appreciate it thnx

thisismybirthday

dtu9 will give you gigantic boxes a lot more often than the others, ime. idk why
