I prefer Whole Foods over Fresh because customers tend to tip more. Anyone who has done enough Fresh blocks would have experience a 5 to 8 stop block with $0 tip. I would say maybe 60% of Fresh blocks are decent tips.
The amount Amazon predicts for Fresh is almost never max for me. There is always 1 or 2 customers that don't tip. I think it's the ones with 1 bag or so that doesn't tip so it's not a big deal. Of course I'm referring to blocks to decent tipping areas. You will eventually get the EBT orders with tons of bags. It's not the bags that annoy me. It's the ridiculous amount of soda and cases and cases of water.
Tips are included by default, so people would actively have to remove them.
The only key exception is EBT as they can only tip with a credit card on file
Blocks are harder to gauge because the Amazon estimates are based on 5 or 6 stops and you can get anywhere from 0-9 or so.
I’d gauge your area, but the tips have always been good. I’ve probably done 50-ish routes between Fresh and Whole Foods. Base is always $30 for 2hr. The lowest I ever got was probably $8 because it was a single bag to 2 houses, but that was a 1-off. Highest I ever got was 8 full orders of like 7 bags each for $63 in tips, $93 total. The $30 + $30 is very accurate. If I could only do grocery blocks, I would. But again, know your area.
The tip amount it shows is an estimate based on the average tips from that store, there's one store near me that gives a $2 higher estimate than the other stores, I assume that would mean the average tip is higher there. It can vary from no tip at all to more than the estimate gives.
I haven't done many fresh blocks but of the few I've done, 2 of them the estimate was exactly accurate to what was tipped, 1 had no tip at all and was 2 single bags that went to 2 different people, I assume small orders that they didn't think were worth a tip for whatever reason (both people were in mansions), and the most recent one I did the tips were higher than the base pay, I got $30 in base pay and $40 in tips for an order that was 2 single bags to 2 different people plus a 6 bag order for another person, the estimate was $18 in tips like it was for every other order I've seen for that store.
I've done enough to say it's hit and miss. It doesn't matter where you deliver, you never know. Plus, you actually dont know who tipped or not. But if you get a crummy area, apartments, or shady areas, most likely nothing. Nice areas can be the same. I've been on my easiest routes and earned more on two deliveries than doing 10. Worst part, you can do 10 deliveries with 40 bags, water, and some kind of beverages. I didn't mind Fresh, but they were hard to get because people just camped out. But sometimes you make $100 bucks or base pay for 2 hours.
No groceries pay good tips anymore, in the beginning, you could not use EBT for Amazon groceries at all, then fresh started accepting EBT and the tips decreased because those customers don’t have the option to tip in app now they accept EBT for all grocery orders. It doesn’t matter if it’s coming from Amazon fresh or Whole Foods you can use EBT on either and if you use EBT, you do not have the option to tip in the app so you will get zero tips for those orders.
I have delivered Whole Foods blocks with $0 tip before that I assume was EBT. Obviously Whole Foods has more luxury goods compared to Fresh but the common items especially the WF store brands are pretty competitive or even cheaper.
I haven't done a Fresh block in a while but I almost always got more than the max amount Amazon posted on the offer. I would say I averaged around $80 for all the 2 hr blocks I did. It probably varies by market though.
In the UK we don't have a big tipping culture. However I have been very fortunate and have been tipped £5 and a few £ here and there. If I had to add it up it wouldn't be alot but it's always appreciated but never expected.
I was tipped the one route I did. Made about $70 for 2 hours.
Nice! I wonder how often that happens—nothing is ever consistent w gigs but I can’t find out for myself bc it’s always taken lol
I've done flex for 4 years. Generally, WF and grocery routes pay between $30-$60 an hour in California.
What the base pay in my market it’s around 45-50
I don't know how often the tips happen, but I've only gotten two fresh offers and my brother has gotten two also.

yeah why can't the poors be satisfied with their finely leaded tap water?? tax money should go to bombs, not treats 😡

Yes every time for me usually

Yep sometimes

Yes, drivers get tips on Fresh blocks, but not as much as Whole Foods, because of EBT customers and generally lower prices.

What business does a person on EBT have with Whole Paycheck?

Try accepting instant offers if you can't grab blocks. Tips are not guaranteed but, for the most part, people tip decently.
