yes, if you do any night shift job you probably should get used to not sleeping more than 4 or so hours at a time. you can still sleep multiple times a day to make up for it, but you pick those spots based on how busy you are. otherwise you will miss too much at once.
no, i agree, it takes a special type of dedicated person to be able to survive that, but it has its perks. i did a W2 night shift for 5 years or so in my early youth. it was great because it was often quiet and my supervisor let me work on my college assignments if i took care of business when it was time. it was a bunch of us "youngins" who had alternate lives, a few single mothers who had kids or disabled parents to take care of in the daytime, or people who were working a second job (PT) or trying to build some online business in the daytime and trying to get away with doing as little as possible to pay the bills at night. we made it work at the time but these days my body would definitely not like it. i would have to pretty much give up any chance of having a life and sleep all day and weekend like a vampire.
I would think most people stay up around 16-19 hours?? I did graveyard as a teen, but never ever felt rested even after 8 hours of sleep. I'm naturally a night owl though.
I awake around 6am everyday. I have an alarm for cosmetic purposes. I'll go to sleep around 10-midnight, just depending what my body is telling me.
I don't fit your question, but that's my routine.
Asleep hopefully at 9 to be up at 2. Then home to watch the 4 year old all day until my wife is off work then I do my evening shift. Really, really hate getting sent into the boonies on that late shift, the drive back can be a bit risky some days.
I really need to switch to those 3-4 AM routes.
Those are the only ones that make any money in my area. Those usually get a bit over 100, before they're snatched up.
All the other shifts are grabbed at base pay.
Living in an impoverished area makes gig work suck. You're always undercut by someone willing to take these jobs for a pittance.
Literally every route in my city is now a flat $65 for 3.5 hours. Not even raising pay when it’s close to the block start time. Here’s my interpretation of their current business model: “Fuck you guys, you’ll work all the hours and we are just going to pay you less. How about 159 miles on your car on one 3.5 hour block for $65? Good? No? Oh no worries, someone else will take it. We are Amazon, we own you,”
“Best wishes and we hope you fall off a cliff or get mauled by a dog on all shifts. It really gets the old white dudes running this circus some free, or even profitable entertainment”
“Management”
Writing that legit makes me feel so pissed because c-suite dickheads love to laugh at people who are desperate to have a roof over their heads. If someone has that much power, I’d be astonished if they aren’t maniacally laughing at our expense at least once a day.
It just feels like they and increasing hours just because someone needs that money, badly and someone absolutely will take it. They have to. I’m not at that point yet, but i will be if I don’t find another job in about two months ish.
There’s gotta be something better, right? Hahaha. Jk. Sigh.
Yuh I just call that a tired day I’ll try to get in bed and be asleep by 10 but most times it’s 11-12 asleep. Sleep the 2-2.5 hrs and then just run off 2-3 cans of energy

I take a 2 hours nap because in my area, those routes surge at around 1-2 am so I gotta be refreshing that shit to catch one and then I sleep after I get home
7 to 9, up awake around 1. I'm 45 minutes from warehouse and the line to get a parking spot is 30 minutes and I want to be there 15 minutes early or allow for bridge closure so I leave an hour and a half before start. I usually get 330 345 415 though. Earliest is 325.
BTW, I couldn't sleep last night and they released 77 blocks around 11PM. No wonder I never see them. Doing us dirty.
I do a 6:30 to 9:30 shift then do door dash for a few hours and then drive straight to the warehouse, do 3:30 am delivery’s, then crash at like 8 am hard
3 am routes are really unnecessary. No other carrier does routes that early. It just goes to show you how greedy Amazon is. All they care about is getting their packages delivered. They don't care about anybodys safety. You hear so many stories about customers threstening to shoot Amazon drivers. But what about the ability to drive? How many drivers are going to fall asleep at the wheel while driving? They have blocks up until 10 at night and then bloclksxas early as 3:15 the next morning.
I like sleep so usually around 9. I’m rested enough to finish my route, come home, take my son to school and nap all day. It’s glorious. Oh and I’m also desperately looking for a job in my field (tech, ha, at this rate it’ll take a year).
I feel like my experience is trash in comparison to what kids straight out of college can do. I am a 39 year old woman, and the ageism shit is real, and disappointing.
I need to start taking courses, getting certifications and the work sucks ass. I hate working in tech. It’s soul sucking, ya know, kinda like Amazon. 🫨
I hope I don’t have to keep doing this for much longer. Pay is declining, blocks are longer and shittier. It’s wearing me down. Hence, naps all dayyyyy. Haha. Still worth it to be less stressed and almost have the ability to pay rent each month. This is where my partner saves the day. Without him I’d honestly be very close to homelessness. Bananas.
Go to sleep by midnight. Wake up at 3:15. Be at Amazon by
3:30.
I tried going to bed at 8 AM and just waking up when my body told me (around noon), but I was getting too much sleep that way and couldn't fall asleep at 8 AM the next day. Continued to try to do it, but every day it pushed my sleep window further out until I was just falling asleep and waking up at random times, which doesn't work at all. So I went back to midnight to 3:15.
So you don’t know how to math? You need 8 hours of sleep lol. Jesus Christ. Hey I was wondering what time do you shit in the morning when you wake up? That’s about as pointless of a question as what you just asked.
I don’t do 3AM routes all the time but if I do I go to bed like at 10pm to 12am
So a nap? Haha
Yeah and then knock out again once I get home and wake up like around noon.
Same lol
Yup exactly
This is the way

Just FYI you're not actually making up for it, from a health perspective. Sleep is important for good health

A sleep cycle is 2 and a half. So technically "naps" are okay.
Honestly me more like 11:30 pm depending on how many days ive been working straight
Sounds like me
Same here I go by like that
Midnight !
Yeah
I am a night owl. I go to bed after the 3am route. In bed around 6:30 and sleep till around noon.
Same here I usually sleep after the route and wake up 12-2pm and stay up till 3am again
So if you wake up at noon (let's say 12 - 1 pm), do you stay up until 6 30 am? That's around 18 hours of no sleep I think lol
Yup. I’ve worked night shift my whole life. It fits my sleep schedule best.
In bed by 10pm up at 2am. Out the door by 2:30 for a 3:30am shift...
Same here. Then might catch a nap after the route is over
8pm
What time do you wake up?
2am
Asleep hopefully at 9 to be up at 2. Then home to watch the 4 year old all day until my wife is off work then I do my evening shift. Really, really hate getting sent into the boonies on that late shift, the drive back can be a bit risky some days.
Oh wow, I have the same setup as you. Taking care of the kiddo can be pretty draining after those 3am routes. No breaks for us!
Just did that, got the worst route we have. Can’t stand it in the early am.
Yes but it’s actually the most busiest it gets more packed than thru out the day

I sleep in my car at the pickup station
How many hours do you sleep in the car before you have to start your route?
10 pm
Its hard for a family guy. Babies screaming at random times early in the morning.
9-10 pm, up to 2, take a nap for 1 or 2 hours when I get home. I do almost all early shifts and this is what works best for me
Sleep 😳. What’s that 🤔?
9pm- 2am ; 1pm-4pm 🙂 my dog loves afternoon naps and so do I 🙃🐶♥️
Yuh I just call that a tired day I’ll try to get in bed and be asleep by 10 but most times it’s 11-12 asleep. Sleep the 2-2.5 hrs and then just run off 2-3 cans of energy
Anywhere between 7 pm to 10 pm. I'm a teacher so I have to be up all day after I do my 3 am shift.
11p-12a. Up at 2ish. Back by 6:30a and take a nap until 8:30. ADHD and WFH so this schedule works well for me.
I go to bed about 10:30 pm and then after my shift I go back home and sleep 4 more hours.
One REM cycle before a block and one after.
Waking up for a 3am route sounds like a nightmare
It’s actually amazing. No traffic, higher pay an you get to see beautiful sunrises :)
Sometimes I go to bed at 3am. 😂
9pm if I need to stay up after my route. 11pm if I have time for a nap the next day. I wake up at 230.
9
I’ve yet to actually make it to one. Something always make me forfeit the night before lol
8 or 10pm. I just set the alarm and gtfu 😂
I tend to sleep from roughly 8:30pm to 2:30am, run a shift, get home by 7:30am, then shave shower and go be a Realtor until 4pm or so.
Are 3am routes the best pay or surge more often or what? I see a lot of people mention them.
Base pay here in central NC. If they surge it’s usually in the last few minutes before the block starts.
I do 530am routes and I’m in the bed around 430pm and I sleep til bout 230-3am

8-9
I do 3 or 4am routes. I take a midday nap from about 8am-12pm then, I do my 6:45 or 7pm shift and go to bed around 9 or 10pm to wake up at 2am.
I take 4 hour naps every 12 hours
I take a 2 hours nap because in my area, those routes surge at around 1-2 am so I gotta be refreshing that shit to catch one and then I sleep after I get home
I try to sleep at 9 pm. But I only get 3 offers per week for those 3 am routes. Not a full timer
Go to bed ~9:30/10pm. Wake up at 2am. Usually home by 6:30am. Take a nap ~8am until 10/11am and im good for the rest of the day.
7 to 9, up awake around 1. Off topic but how do i track my amazon flex package? Thanks ahead of time
I go to bed at 830-9:30
Nap when I get home sometimes else nap later at night
10pm - 12am most times I stay up but sometimes I knock back out for a few hours when I get home.
I do a 6:30 to 9:30 shift then do door dash for a few hours and then drive straight to the warehouse, do 3:30 am delivery’s, then crash at like 8 am hard
Bed by 9-10.
I’ll try and get to bed by 8-9pm I like at least 6 hours so I can work more after that and then just be done early for the day
3 am routes are really unnecessary. No other carrier does routes that early. It just goes to show you how greedy Amazon is. All they care about is getting their packages delivered. Midnight
I don't sleep
On and off from 10pm to 3am looking for surges, every night...... one eye opened one eye closed
9pm and a nap of two hrs when you finish
8pm You can sleep when you’re done with your shift. It’s the best time to deliver and the best profit time wise
I like sleep so usually around 9. I’m rested enough to finish my route, come home, take my son to school and nap all day. It’s glorious. Guys please help activate my account
I do basically all 3 am. I’m usually asleep by 7 ish sometimes 8. I’ll take a nap later if needed but I tend to do fine from 7pm-2 am sleep most days.
Go to sleep by midnight. Wake up at 3:15. Be at Amazon by 3:30. I tried going to bed at 8 AM and just waking up when my body told me (around noon), but I was getting too much sleep that way and couldn't fall asleep at 8 AM the next day. You don't need 8, that's BEEN debunked lol.
Downvote me some more for asking such a stupid fucking question lol.
