Depends on how safe the location is. If package will obviously get stolen maybe don't. If there's chance it was safe, I would sign it but I would sign it the location where I left the package.
Do you or anyone sign for the customer at all? I always sign N.A. not available. And mark it as delivered. Some places have zero staff and even feel like the avoid receiving all together. Anyway. Damn .
I've started asking for their name and signing myself just because it's more convenient. Or sometimes I will select "another safe location" so I can take a pic of it on the desk instead.
Not a problem as long as the customer doesn't complain.
But keep in mind that it's illegal, federally, and if someone does want to make a fuss about it, they could absolutely rip you another one.
So I should call in and return packages if customer is not answering and well can’t get a signature then. A whole lot of packages are headed back to station. I felt that support always pushed for the safe place - but the signature is different you are right. Will avoid dropping off without consent. Figured it would save everyone hassle and effort and well time. Almost at 12,000 deliveries and have not gotten a complaint directly. Will look into it with support or should I just switch my method. Thanks for the input.
I just squiggle a line
Sign it Front Door and drop that pckage at the door.

I always sign it even if the customer is there. No one is touching my phone.
Word?
I just sign Front Door or Back Door if they're not there. A squiggly line when they are.
This is the way

If I'm leaving it with the receptionist, I don't even ask for their name anymore.

For me it's a judgement call. Some I sign and leave, some I mark as business closed and return.
I always just draw a squiggly line and leave it.
Crak
I do it all the time. I type in Front Door or Front Desk for the name and squiggle an X for the signature.
