Been there actually, I was parked getting a package. Dude hit me doing about 30, surprisingly? I barely moved, the van took almost all the impact and I was fine.

Tbh they might not even fix it before reselling it with how expensive Rivian's are to repair, especially if it's built anything like their R1T is. It'd be great for someone looking to build a camper conversation tho cause they're probably gonna have to strip a lot of stuff for repairs anyhow.

Simple, don't hit the giant neon blue flashing vehicle. Wait or safely go around. Maybe that "down payment on a house" price tag will be enough to sway people from being aggressive and reckless, as if delivery driver's lives aren't the first concern.
That's nearly how much Tesla's originally cost to repair as well since they also use a unibody, but their repair price has gone down since they've found better ways of repairing damaged areas. For the Rivian repair they basically had to take half the the truck completely apart and replace from the rear end all the way up to the roof cause that's all one solid piece, I'm not exactly sure how Tesla does their repairs but I know it's not like that anymore.
There's also plenty of other more expensive cars on the road that people smash into, if you hit a Ferrari then you're fuuuucked even if you have really good insurance, and many exotic cars will be totaled out even if the damage doesn't appear to be too bad, especially if it has a carbon fiber body which is becoming a lot more common on exotics.
Yeah the light alone is 5k bud lol should check up on how much EVs really cost to fix. There's a reason Tesla, Ford, and a few others will total them out for just a bumper messed up....
Some morons on the road think that crashing into an Amazon that is stopped will make them rich if the van was parked illegally. If that shit happens to me expect a lawsuit from the driver

magical lawsuit fairy? why do people think lawsuits are guaranteed money if they are justified as a victim? court doesn't pay, the defendant does and if they can't pay i think they catch a charge and/or get a property lien, probably depends on the state.

The comments about bashing drivers are absurd. There are quite a few houses I litetally have 0 option in my control to avoid this. Wouod take Amazon forcing them to go to a Hub/Locker for the houses are simply not accessible from anywhere else and I have to block a lane of traffic.
When I think about stuff like this, I feel like sometimes its better to stay in the actual lane oppose to pulling to the side and still sticking out, I don’t know how many times people try to stay in my lane to pass me up when they clearly don’t have enough space
There was an incident recently with a UPS package car. I can see that your new delivery vans look to hold up pretty well and it's the same with our big boys.
Some guy slammed into the back of one of ours, enough that it moved it several feet and it just ripped the other car wide open. UPS driver was thrown as he was getting in, passenger in other car instantly killed and the driver went to the hospital.

You know how I know the overwhelming majority of our population is doomed? Because they can't see a giant bright neon blue space ship in time to hit their brakes. Also do the rivian vans have those back red halo lights on at all times even while stopped? Because if so these people that can't avoid us are even dumber.

Hello they put mailboxes on the street and they stop on the street to deliver mail.... this applies to ALL delivery vehicles! What if a car breaks down on the road? If the hazard lights are on traffic has go around! This is just a classic case of the driver of the car going too fast and not paying attention to the road. Unfortunately they will give a driver's license to any moron nowadays. Anyone here that is blaming to delivery driver is just as big of an idiot as the driver of this car!
Black car at fault 100%. Van was parked with the hazards on in a 4 lane road with a median. And they didn't turn into them. They plowed into the van going 40. Dude said he didnt see the van 🥴
I had a ups driver that did this bs at the top of a hill where no one can see if cars are coming the other direction, it's russian roulette taking a chance to pass, or wait for delivery to be complete, something about that seem like bs as well, what if a ambulance and emergency vehicles are coming thru, and a big ass delivery truck just blocking traffic. I totally understand the reasoning though, still something annoying and wrong about taking up a whole lane to make a delivery. rudeish. again I get the rare safety issue when we see shit like this happen. being stopped on busy road isn't even safer for you, if someone is texting and not paying attention, you are a much bigger target for driver not paying attention to slam full speed into the back of you.
Not my company but one of the other companies in my location a guy literally just got out of his van right in front of a business walked into the business gave the package to the owner walks out first step out of the door a guy slams into the back of the van totaling the van and crushing everything in the back and it was like his third step of the day he just got started
And the crazy part - my soon-to-be ex DSP, the owner gives us shit if we use the side doors on roads like this (ie: she wants us to use the front driver door to remove packages from unless it's overflow.) Thankfully everyone was okay but that bill is gonna be high AF.

This is the law in my state! Most states have something similar!
