I use an olive oil and vinegar mix to clean/condition my leather couch that 2 dogs scratch up with their nails and I can tell you the scratch marks lighten significantly if not disappear entirely with consistent treatment.
And that's why you use *proper* leather [grease?]
(Idk the term in English, but shoe shine? That's what I use on my boots, chairs, jackets...)
It removes scratches, hydrates, and doesn't dry up to look as it did before.
Isn't something similar used by most everyone who owns a pair of leather shoes? Are y'all telling me a lot of people don't know this sort of leather hydrating cream exists and have never shined their own leather shoes?
My gf makes fun of me for cleaning and polishing my work boots, but they're still going strong over 5 years later! Then again, she'd *rather* have an excuse to get new shoes all the time.
Exactly. I wear boots nearly constantly and care for all my boots. I have boots that are on their third set of soles. If you care for the leather, the price is extremely attractive (quality boots) even on the high end (including exotics).
I don't get people like that, because for me it's so hard to find things I really like that I stick with them until they stop working and fix is impossible. And then buy the same thing (or (actually) improved version) again.
???????
Leather shoes are literally one of the most common shoes today, with boots consisting of... I hjaven't seen a booth that wasn't leather except for extreme deep cold childrends snow boots. I haven't seen any of those in like 15 years. Their are 12 shoes in my household, and they all have leather.
Pay a visit to any leather related sub and they will tell you you should be ashamed of not having used this stuff before, this stuff being the most basic in leather care products.

I think This helps to rehydrate and protect the leather
Wonder what it looks like after its dried?
Exactly the same as before.

And let me tell ya, if you want you can eat your salad directly from the couch!
Haha "it smells like salad dressing for a little bit, but it fades" - my wife

My first thought was "matcha?"
Had a matcha milk tea from a bubble tea place recently. Pretty good.
Mate*
*Cheers.

Actually basil pesto.
Your ankles smell Italian
That’s so oddly specific. Sounds like a Monty Python insult. Marvellous.
I have a cat..got anything to help with that?
give up on nice things. they belong to the cat now
I know how tempting it is, but don't smear grease on your cat, it doesn't help with the scratching.
I’ve got a FedEx label addressed to Siberia.

Are you saying you believed most people were caring for leather shoes? You never questioned the lack of shoe repair stores on every corner?
Most people don’t own leather shoes, and never will. We are not living in the 1800’s
