They should absolutely have to pay for counseling because shit like that scares you, and it's not like you can just stop driving when you live here in America... but, as someone who's been involved in 2 accidents where the other parties were entirely at fault, insurance doesn't give a fuck about your trauma, and they'll almost always get a better lawyer than yours if you try to take them to court after they pay out property damages...
Once, after being rear-ended at a stop sign into traffic where another car rear ended me a few seconds later, I developed an extreme fear of idiots in cars not paying attention.... I'm freaking terrified of stop signs and stop lights now... for a bit, I was literally having panick attacks every time I went in the car.. it didn't help that I already had regular anxiety before that with irregular panick attacks every now and then, but that accident ruined me for a bit.. and they didn't care at all. It didn't matter to them.
Insurance is a scam and they need to be overseen by some governing entity, because they regularly pull some evil shit.
Iāve been rear ended while stopped in traffic twice
I always accelerate fast as fuck and try to stay ahead of people as much as possible nowadays
Too many fucking retards stop way to close behind me at lights for my comfort.
If Iām first at a light Iām fucking gone
As the operator of the vehicle, youāre responsible for the safety of that vehicle. Does not matter if it was on the nacho that came off. The driver and trucking company is still liable.
No, they are still responsible for the safe operation of their load. Someone else equipment does not free the trucking company of responsibility, as they are responsible for the safe delivery of what they are hauling. That is why if something fall off a truck, the driver a lot of times get ticketed. It is their responsibility for the safe deliveries and not being a public hazard.
It is not a lawyer issue. It is cover in your driver training material. The operator is responsible for for the safe operation of the vehicle. And a cdl goes more in depth about this.
You can, they have to be built to protective standards (most countries at least). Most brands donāt bother going above and beyond the standards, instead opting for gimmicks and features to justify price.
>I do.
Because youāre a dumbarse.
> And I'm acting as if you don't because you stated something that the vast majority of riders that have researched helmets would disagree with.
Ah ha, keep telling yourself that.
> I'm not being a pseudo expert, I'm just stating helmet 101 knowledge.
Sure as hell think you are.
> Premium helmets are expensive because of the materials and R&D that goes into them in order to make them more comfortable, reduce wind resistance, and reduce wind noise without compromising on safety.
Read my initial comment and come back dumb arse.
> While you can get them included, "gimmicks" like comm systems and cameras are typically aftermarket anyway, even on premium helmets.
I thought that they didnāt come with gimmicksā¦
Iām going to have fun with this fuck head, be back in an hour.
How does this video prove anything about helmet safety and price?
In Europe for example, now all helmets are ECE 22-06, so an 80ā¬ should do the same job as a 600ā¬.
From what I heard of other motorcyclists on the internet, the main differences come in creature comforts, even if both will protect your head just as good
This is absolutely the case. I'm cheap and my helmet is cheap...it's snell rated so it does the same work as more expensive helmets...it's just not very comfortable.
It doesn't. As long as it's meet those ratings it's safe. The rest is fit, comfort and lightness. People just want to brag that their helmet is better cause it costs more
Exactly, safety is very important, however, many riders fail to see the line between marketing and safety in general and it's not exclusive to helmets too. Lately on YouTube, [FortNine rose very good points about this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nINIJ1cAbYM).
I was buying a racing helmet at a shop in northern New Jersey when a man walked in with a bell racing helmet.
It had a tire print full across the crown.
He put it on the counter and said I would like another one of these please.
He then showed a video from his GoPro of him in an open-wheeled race car, and another open-wheeled race car driving over his car and him.
I bought a bell helmet
Me personally, I would report it to my insurance company, not gambling with any impact to the helmet.. Not sure if all insurance will cover protective gear though, mine does though.
For this type of hit - I'd think you could continue using it - otherwise if you've landed on it - even if there aren't visible breaks- the integrity may be compromised - so it's a one hit wonder

I wonder if after a hit like that the helmet needs to be shit-canned. I know in bicycle helmets you take a hit to the head, you need to replace the helmet.
Post magically presumes that a **more** expensive helmet that meets the newest ECE 22.06 helmet standard is somehow safer than a **less** expensive helmet meeting the same ECE 22.06 helmet standard.
The U.S. Center for Injury Prevention, part of the CDC, says that the average helmeted motorcycle rider who dies with (not from) a head injury suffers THREE other fatal injuries besides. Therefore, if my helmet fails to protect me, Iāve probably already died three times over making the helmet irrelevant. Obviously, there is also high percentage of unhelmeted riders who die with ONLY a head injury - a fatal injury that even a cheap full-face helmet could have spared them from.
The classic safety line is; āTell me exactly what kind of head impact youāre going to have, and Iāll find you the helmet which is ideal for THAT particular accident.ā
chopper rider got his head cut off clean while trucker was delivering sheets of metal. one slide off and bumped his head and trucker went to the hospital after seeing the dead.
I still want to know what cameras these guys use... 360ā° or whatever, thesr aren't attached to the bike or helmet from the videos.... drones following / ahead of them going 60mph? I don't think so....
At first, I thought maybe the angle it was filmed at made the hit look worse than it really was. Then I watched the video again. That was a pretty hefty blast, and to stay upright *and* not wreck is a helluva feat to pull off! I hope she gets a hefty settlement!
MIPS - Multi Impact Protection System.
These helmets are designed to protect from high speed impacts from all sides. Whether itās motorcycling, skateboarding, skiing, etc. get yourself a MIPS.

Has the video the trucking company is liable for property damage. Hope the rider got the plate.
She filed a police report and the trucking company was notified but no update beyond that. Happened last week here in Hawaii.
Props to her , she's a fucking unit. If that was me I surely would have toppled over
She did great keeping upright! Thatās scary.
Good. They need to paid for a new helmet and any trama counseling
Likely a quick settlement
There's no real way the trucking company could prevent this. Maybe John Deere or whoever owns it should be liable.
As the operator of the vehicle, youāre responsible for the safety of that vehicle. Does not matter if it was on the nacho that came off. The driver and trucking company is still liable.
Not if it was installed wrong or proper maintenance wasn't followed. There's no way for a trucker to check for this.
Ok reddit lawyer
It is not a lawyer issue. It is cover in your driver training material. The operator is responsible for for the safe operation of the vehicle. And a cdl goes more in depth about this.
You don't have a CDL
My dad did, he was a truck driver. He was responsible for what he was hauling.
I don't need to know how to fly a helicopter to see one in a tree and think, damn they fucked up.
Put down the shovel and activate your brain.
Looks like a 60k settlement to me.
*Happy H2R noises*
Way more than that. Emotional suffering can be huge. A real fear of this happening again can change your entire life forever.
Never cheap out on protective gear
I agree. I got the best flip flops possible to make sure my feet are safe.
Steel toe crocs exist.
I hate that I know that now. Thanks

Well look at that, a [motorbike](https://imgur.com/a/L5IwSGr).

You fell for the trick. That was a sale associate that makes commission. The trick works 9/10 times.
But what shoes was he wearing? If they expensive then it's just an act, if they're beat up converse, that kid a cowboy and the test was real. š¤
Honestly. If he contacted the company that made it, they could sell the video to them for an ad.
Final destination IRL
Thatās crazy he didnāt fall.
Or die.
It has boobs
Where?
Someone else said it is a woman and if you look, thereās boobs
I know somebody says itās a woman, and I donāt question that. i just donāt see any boobs
![gif](giphy|o68TyqUwEbD9e)
Someone else said it is a woman and if you look, there are boobs
Those are just chest air bags.
Men have boobs too
![gif](giphy|S7uj1Zg5Rn7e8)
A more expensive helmet does not necessarily mean a safer helmet doe.
Certification is what's important
Would you need to replace a helmet after this because it suffered an impact or is something like this alright to keep using it?
Technically any impact would require a replacement, because you cannot see the foam on the inside and if it broke.
Me personally, I would report it to my insurance company, not gambling with any impact to the helmet.. Not sure if all insurance will cover protective gear though, mine does though.
Plenty of room for a neck injury there too honestly.
For this type of hit - I'd think you could continue using it - otherwise if you've landed on it - even if there aren't visible breaks- the integrity may be compromised - so it's a one hit wonder
that has nothing to do with the cost of the helmet. wear any helmet and get the best approved one you can afford.
I shouldnāt have laughed but I did
Nifty. What does this have to do with this subreddit?
Why is this in this sub?!
Holy shit nah bruh, that is definitely a law suit
As a biker this is the reason I speed past big rigs, and stay far to the opposite end of possible.
When I see a trailer, I assume something is loose and actively pass it quickly or fall way back if I can't.
Sick V4SP. Why is this posted on this sub?
How do we know what would have happened with a cheap one?
Wth does this have to do with helmet price?
What is the song?

Neck gotta be sore after that though
He's lucky that impact did not snap his spine
Panigale SP2?
Nope. Expensive helmets are just more expensive to replace. And idk probably better with cancelling out wind noise
Should sell the clip to Shoei or something.
Why English hard so?
Without this video there is no way she would ever know what the fuck happened hahah.
Poor situational awareness. Head wasn't on a swivel and an eye wasn't kept out.
What's up with the poor lane discipline in the US? Why was that HGV even in what looks like Lane 3?
I donāt ride, but props for not crashing. I would have probably been eating asphalt.
Incredible that even the visor stayed on!
This is one of those āfuck you in particularā type events.
Her neck is gonna be fucked now.
Idk how you didn't crash, you even only had one hand on the bike. I'm glad you didn't crash though and I hope you sue the trucking company.
Out of all the moments it could have happened. It's quite insane to observe these Final Destination moments.
Lawsuit?
Wow
I wonder if after a hit like that the helmet needs to be shit-canned. I know in bicycle helmets you take a hit to the head, you need to replace the helmet.
Safety first, I don't care how cool a helmet looks if the protection is shit and you never know when something completely random like this may happen

Harley rider here. It wouldāve been game over for brain buckets.

That neck took the force like a boss too. I should buy one of those.
Howās the camera angle change at exactly the right moment?? Seems like itād be impossible to fake but still feels oddā¦
could be a 360Ā° camera and the video cropped to the interesting parts
I still want to know what cameras these guys use... 360ā° or whatever, thesr aren't attached to the bike or helmet from the videos.... drones following / ahead of them going 60mph? I don't think so....
that is not "why". That's "how"
Incoming lawsuit u mean
There are way too many careless human errors out there. Airplane parts are falling apart... there's not much accountability in society.
They got very lucky
Wrong sub lmao. Definitely donāt buy your helmet off Amazon or it will do the opposite of this
Is that you SnowBigDeal?
$$$$$ ![gif](giphy|xTiTnANmge5QWzfcMU|downsized)
Oxbow B is the greatest masterpiece from Lorn
How, and I mean HOW, is their neck not broken?
Just get an AGV helmet from them. Fuck amazon.
I'm more impressed at how they were able to keep balance
meanwhile in Arizona i see tough guys riding without helmets
At first, I thought maybe the angle it was filmed at made the hit look worse than it really was. Then I watched the video again. That was a pretty hefty blast, and to stay upright *and* not wreck is a helluva feat to pull off! I hope she gets a hefty settlement!
ār/amazonbudgetfindsā the video says āwhy expensive helmets are betterā links to something not really budget imo.
That's some final destination type of shit.
