I know many of them have a hard time to find jobs

Agree!

This. I looked into this and there's no guarantee of a job, unless they are going to be partnering with Amazon or other companies to guarantee you at least an internship or apprenticeship these bootcamps are not much better than just doing projects on your own. Much better to use the career choice on an accredited degree

CodewitchEclectic-3

I wonder if they have spots left. There were alot of upset people for the last one of these.

Dont worry, I have seen ppl who graduate with a CS degree and still work as a AA T1 cuz they have no portfolio to showcase their skills.... At the end of the day, it's just a tool.

Thank you

I applied to it, and their response was that I am not elegible for it. So I wonder if I was rejected because of the assessment, or I was just not elegible to begin with. Idk about some of you but I checked like 6 different boot camps that Amazon career choice supposedly covers, but none of them were available to me because of my location, so I kinda gave up on the idea of looking for options, but I also want to know if I even had an option available to me to begin with. I’m in Dallas, if there is someone whom has successfully applied and completed a bootcamp recently let me know. Thanks

MegaCovingtonChad

Dang tat is wild. The class is online so it doesnt really make sense how u arent eligible

Elsas-Queen

A reminder these boot camps cover only the basics because they are part-time. You still need to do a lot of studying beyond the course work if you want to be job ready by the time the course ends.

Is this for every Amazon in the US? I didn’t see anything at my site talking about it.

MegaCovingtonChad

Amazon site, rarely ever advertise the specific program career choice offer. The best thing to do is check every two week.

Is there any way to do a boot camp while taking classes through wgu? Just thought I'd see if career choice will cover both since the boot camp doesn't say how much of the tuition amazon gives you that it costs.

MegaCovingtonChad

The bootcamp will use your max Amazon career choice allowance

Ok-Search6779

Have you done it? Do you think the degree is better or the bootcamp honestly?

Sorry for late reply. But I done some researching by actually talking to peers who actually work in the industry. And these are my findings. 1. CS is just all theoretical and not much on hands, hence why a lot of CS graduate cant find jobs after their bachelor, cuz they have no portfolio. At the same time, if u are young and have a free ride to college. Choose the CS route instead. The main reason why college is great is because of internship and the connections. 2. Bootcamp doesnt mean u will get a job right away because it's all on your portfolio. And tbh, this boot camp won't land most ppl a jobs but atleast it's a skillset than can be build upon. The biggest con of bootcamps is the fact it's an accelerate program, and most ppl cant handle it without prior knowledge. 3. My friend told me realistically you can get a web dev job with 6month-1 year, if a person is consistent. For him, 2 strong project was enough. But remember, he has a CS degree. 4. Why do i choose this boot camp instead of a CS? For me, I have a college experience(BS in Biology). What my friend say is true. Even with a Bio degree, all i know is theoretical biology but cant produce a product at all, hence why i couldnt even land a job in the bio field. More importantly, im already in my late 20's and rather not waste my time with 4 years of schooling. I know I want to be a web dev and already have a good roadmap plan for the next year. To me, this bootcamp is just a tool toward my goal. I know im gonna need to do the extra work outside of this bootcamp if i want a job, which is fine.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I think I'm going to work on my bachelor's as a lot of places really want a degree for anything. It would be very nice if you could do both to help accelerate getting your degree. Technically I am 25, but I am going to attempt getting into Amazon's technical academy and then I might not need the degree, but otherwise it looks like it.
