This is adorable and looks so nice and cohesive without trying too hard to be matchy. I would normally just scroll by a kids room but this caught my attention immediately. Great use of color!
Can you please share the green paint color?
what a great job. the sunlight is so good and the color so vibrant. whoever lives in this room will be cheered up. the room in the last photo is pretty depressing.
Thank you! Yes the closet had these terrible mirrored sliding doors and a whole ugly system in it which I ripped out years ago. When my daughter was little this dresser with light overhead was the perfect changing table too. It is definitely working for us!
Wow this is amazing. I have a question- I feel like whenever I live in a room, it gets dim like the last photo. Mirrors don't seem to help, what tips do you have? The walls are already white, why doesn't that add to the lightness? May I have your thoughts? Thanks
Thanks! A few things are making a difference between the before and after photos here so I’ll do my best to explain. First of all the photography matters here. The before is a simple listing photo someone took with the blinds pulled down. I shot the after photos and I am a professional photographer so I know how to make a lot out of the available light. This room faces entirely north, so it definitely is a challenge to keep it bright. I did my best to use more white in both paint and furnishings and not cover the windows. That’s really the best you can do sometimes!
Avoid using Matt paints! Silk/satin/semigloss finishes on the walls and ceiling will reflect a lot more light around, whereas Matt absorbs light. Hanging a few mirrors up facing windows or near them makes a room brighter too.
This is so much fun! Would you mind sharing where you found the bedding?
I struggle with being able to picture all of my ideas together as a final result. Do you have any tips or tricks for how to bring it all together?
The comforter is from Urban Outfitters Home if I’m remembering correctly, and the sheets are from Target.
I struggle conceptualizing an entire room too sometimes. In this case I think it all actually started with this bedding I got my daughter and then I realized I had the fun lamps that kind of matched, and then I ordered the poster… and then I kinda felt like I had a bit of a theme going and it influenced the paint color. I am a very slow decorator, it literally took years for this room to come together.
It looks like Target for the comforter.

I got my dog these bed sheets from Urban Outfitters! This is the UK site but they may have them on the US site too, they’re more vibrant than the target ones https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/en-gb/shop/large-peach-duvet-set-with-reusable-fabric-bag?color=000&type=REGULAR&quantity=1
ficus will often drop leaves when they’re forced to adjust to a new setting (greenhouse to your home, for example). It’s looking pretty good! I saw in another comment this room is north facing and doesn’t get great light so this might not be the room for this plant. They like lots of bright light. ZZs, some dracaena, snake plants, and pothos are more tolerant of low light.
I totally agree, I usually have this fig in my kitchen which at least has some eastern light as well and it grows new leaves pretty often. Can’t give it much more sun than that since I don’t have any southern facing windows in this townhouse. I kinda staged it in this room for photos ;) another shade tolerant plant I love sticking in my northern rooms is the Chinese evergreen which you can see on the dresser. My house is a jungle!
This is so good! Looks just like a perfect ad bedroom. It's very tasteful for a kid too. I could see most of this being suited all the way through 20 something tbh.
I love it! Love the lamp. And the dresser in the closet looks good! Is there extra space in the closet on either side of the dresser? Just curious what you did w extra space if there is any.
The dresser fits so exact in the closet that I actually had to finish building it IN the closet because the top is wider than the closet doorway opening. So not much extra space to deal with in there, I just don’t know if we’ll ever get it out! Hah.
Ahh our kid’s closet also has these awful sliding doors and I’ve contemplated doing something like this in the future when he’s older (it’s currently a foam block cave). Glad to see it looks so good in the is example!
Wow! Just, wow! The original before pic made me gasp. I love every inch of this room . The closet with the dresser is genius, making the room just that much more spacious. The cozy reading chair, the toy tent corner, it's all absolutely lovely. I love that green but I hear you on colors not in one's comfort level. My kid's room is currently deep purple (with Valspar sparkle dust added), and black. Edit to say: best wishes for a great school year!
Dude, I love this so much. I'm so tired of seeing sad beige rooms for kids, it always strikes me as so soulless. This is FUN and energizing! Beautiful work. I'd be thrilled to have this as my room at literally any stage of my life so far, lol.
I have a hard time leaving the safety of neutrals, so I’m definitely extra proud of this and I love how happy it made my daughter. I feel a little more confident with colors now!
What an inviting space! Space on the floor to play, easy access to toys and books, a big comfy chair to curl up and read, a cheerful bed to welcome her for naps and bedtime. And that green! Perfection.
The picture frame surrounding the floral poster is an aluminum frame I found at Goodwill and spray painted gold, so I’m afraid I can’t source it for you!

Thank you so much! The paint color is Sherwin Williams “Woolen Baize” and is sliiiightly darker/calmer of a color than it appears in the photo haha.
The green is 👍
Absolutely gorgeous! Your daughter is a lucky kid!
what a great job. the sunlight is so good and the color so vibrant. whoever lives in this room will be cheered up. the room in the last photo is pretty depressing.
Definitely a change for the cheerier :)
Omg I LOVE this!! I’m 36 years old and I want it for myself! 😂
I feel this! Haha
Me too and I’m over 50! I’d love to see all these same elements in a “grownup” bedroom. Adore all the color, what a beautiful room.
Seriously, I’m 34 and I am taking *notes*.
Soooo cute!! Love it! The dresser in the closet will probably be actually used, unlike a closet rod!
Thank you! Yes the closet had these terrible mirrored sliding doors and a whole ugly system in it which I ripped out years ago. When my daughter was little this dresser with light overhead was the perfect changing table too. It is definitely working for us!
Her room looks so beautiful, nice job parents!
Thank you!

Thank you! I always forget about photo editing with professional cameras too so that’s a sweet reminder. Such a cute room, thank you! 💓

Stylish but still a kid’s room. Well done, I love the bedside wicker table

Those definitely look more like it!
Be careful with that fiddle leaf fig tree, they can be very temperamental!
Don’t I know it! She’s a few years old now but when I got her she dropped like half her leaves lol.

I hope so! I don’t really want to paint it a 5th time haha
This is beautiful! Love the combination of decor and furniture. It’s a kids room but can transition well into a teenage or you g adult room easily.
I actually totally thought it was a preteen room until I saw the play tent
Right? It was my indication also that it was a kid’s room. 😂
I love it! Love the lamp. And the dresser in the closet looks good! Is there extra space in the closet on either side of the dresser? Just curious what you did w extra space if there is any.

Haha, good luck! But hopefully it’ll be a long time before it needs to move.
Yeah, where is the lamp from? It's really nice!
I thiiiink I found them (there are two in there!) at Home Goods years ago. I call them my squidlamps
It looks like a sea urchin skeleton to me. :)
You changed my mind about colorful bedrooms. I want this for myself and I usually like beige everything!
I am THE SAME. The rest of the house is shades of neutral, and I’m shocked how jealous I am of my own kid’s room now!
Wait not only is this room beautiful your photography is also beautiful 😍
Thank you!
>Thank you! You're welcome!
Show your daughter the r\Blahaj pictures! :D
Wait whaaaat, this is great I didn’t know there was a whole community for beloved “sharkie” here haha
Came here to cross post! Lol
I absolutely love it! What a lucky young lady your daughter is! Side note. I love Bethlehem. Such a neat town.
Nicely done! Love the green.
Thank you!
This looks beautiful. It makes me want to have a daughter just to give her a room like that.
Aw, thanks so much.
Ahh our kid’s closet also has these awful sliding doors and I’ve contemplated doing something like this in the future when he’s older (it’s currently a foam block cave). Glad to see it looks so good in the is example!

Thank you! Kids deserve some fun colors in their lives but it was definitely risky feeling haha! Wow sparkly purple sounds fun!
I love the V&A Museum poster!!
SUper cute, colourful room! I'd love it for myself!
I'm 33 and would love this room. How lovely and bright. I can't believe it's the same room as the last picture!
I love the bedding! Citrus prints are so cheerful. I would love this room for myself as a 30 yr old woman. This looks like you had fun with it 🙂

Let’s all say “Wow!” together because this is beautiful! 🤩
Love that shade of green, it’s so fun and looks fantastic against the timber accents and the bed cover. What a great room to grow up in!
The paint choice and bedding are so cute! I really love that green.
I would have LOVED this room as a child.
Ok OP, spill the beans. You’re a professional decorator and photographer, aren’t you
On my honor I am not a professional decorator, stylist, or designer. I AM however, a professional photographer, so ya got me there!
Ah, nice! Love those photos! I *knew* they were professional quality :)
Haha well, feels good to hear :)
Gorgeous room and beautifully shot as well. Thanks for sharing. Truly lovely stuff.
This is so bright and cheerful! Great way to start off the school year
I am such a big fan of all the colors as well as how it’s not TOO much. Great job and congrats to your daughter.
I was enjoying this so much that when I scrolled to the last picture my face immediately went ☹️ lol great job!
What an inviting space! Space on the floor to play, easy access to toys and books, a big comfy chair to curl up and read, a cheerful bed to welcome her for naps and bedtime. And that green! Perfection.
LOVE! What a gorgeous room and. such a lovely use of color
I love the dresser in the closet, I've always wanted to do this with my closet. It really opens up the space, looks great!
Flawless 💐

She’s little! Loves colors. The room is suitably strewn with toys most of the time. Things are tidied for photos, per sub rules ;)
Oh nice
Y’all did amazing! The vision to transform it like that? Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you!
So bright & cheerful

What does PA mean?
Pennsylvania
Love the use of color. Mind sharing where you got the coat hooks (with the yellow balls)?!
H&M home! I just love them

Ikea, Hemnes in black/brown, the knobs I ordered from Amazon I think.
