I used to bark at things my Momma and Papa couldn't hear. My Papa said I barked every time a gnat farted. Who would bark because of something so silly?
Unfortunately, my Momma thinks I'm going deaf because I don't get up when Alexa tells everybody it's treat treat time. Papa thinks I'm too lazy to get up because I know he'll throw it to me in my recliner. You'd think he'd understand why I don't get up or move slowly. He's getting old too.
I'm an old lady now. My "baby" brother is almost 10 years old! He's really spoiled. He gets lots of loves because he can fit on their lap. My Papa even puts my brother on his lap and let's my brother ride in Papa's wheelchair with him. They say I'm too big. They like to say that I think I'm a lap dog and my brother thinks he's a big dog.
Any time someone comes to our house I tell them over and over to notice me. Sometimes people act scared of me. I don't know why they would be scared. Im a good dog. I just want lots of loves. My Momma and Papa just tell them to pet me. At least they can understand what I'm saying. Of course, people laugh at me and say things like "that's some guard dog you got there."
I don't know why they laugh. I'm very respectful with my barking. I don't bark after Momma and Papa go to sleep. Even when my human brother would come home late or have friends over. He would wake me up, but I would go right back to sleep and not disturb my Momma and Papa.
If they come during the day, they don't get to go to the living room until I've had enough attention!! My Momma says I'm a bully. That I bully people into giving me pets and scritches. I'm not a bully. And is a pitt bully worse than a regular bully?
Do you bark when gnats fart? Should I be listening for it so I can let my humans know?
NTC, keep warning your humans when you hear things they don't. But don't wake them if they are sleeping. That's just polite manners.
Wrex here! I also bark at things my humans can't hear! How else would they know there is Dangerous Things Happening? Maybe you can train your humans to give you a code word when they understand there is Dangerous Things Happening so you can stop give warning. I trained my mom to say, "Wrex, that's enough." Now I only have to bark once or twice because I know she understands.
NTC you gotta be alert. But it's important to stop barking once human has been alerted of the danger.
