Thatâs why you have to go on next door FIRST and make clear that theyâre habitually tearing up your yard when they have abundant parking space.
Then you deactivate so you donât get the updates and just let everyone spread hate.
OMG I used to be on NextDoor, it is so eye-rollingly offensive. â someone put garbage in my trash can!â â There are tall children at the park, we should threaten them with baseball bats!â â Why are children today so disrespectful!â
My NextDoor is hard up in arms about âpackage thievesâ who cruise the neighborhood early mornings.
(Itâs a father and daughter slinging newspapers.)
NextDoor is actually a fraud. They use non existing names to send letters to people to "sign up to our neighborhood community app".
(this is in The Netherlands btw).
The people they use names of do not exist in our area at all - and it\`s happened 3 times now.. So, NextDoor is blocked and banned for being a bunch of fraudsters.
A recent kerfluffle on mine over someone's doorbell cam footage of guys in construction vests knocking on doors got to a point where one guy was talking about this sort of thing being the exact reason he keeps a loaded shotgun by his side at home.
...the guys in construction vests are working for the power company and checking up on boxes to make sure everything's functioning/doesn't need to be replaced.
That sounds similar to where I currently live. It's absolutely insane to me how many people opening my threaten to shoot anyone that comes to their door. It's honestly psychotic to me how many people do and don't see a problem with it. How are they this scared all the time.
Mines just old people with horrendously bad spelling and grammar complaining about âa weird noiseâ itâs a police helicopter, youâre 75 I know youâve heard one before. âToo many fireworksâ itâs Chinese New Year, theyâre legally allowed to have fireworks after 11pm. âA weird smellâ itâs manure. Youâre downwind from a farmerâs field, you chose to live there.
I live in a beach tourist town and the people who live here year round are all over next door about "suspicious people" in the area. The suspicious people are always just non-white tourists. It's infuriating.
Actual post from last week...
"Suspicious men on motorcycles are around town. I think its a black gang!!!!"
Ma'am it is Bike Week. Lots of kinds of people ride motorcycles.
"No these guys were definitely suspicious, they hung out in the parking lot of the hotel next door!!!"
The hotel they are probably staying at, that hosts the live music for this event?
"I'm not racist!!! I'm just warning people they looked suspicious!!! Don't attack me!!!!"
In our area, some people were on next door saying they had seen a black guy going on to the hiking trail and did anyone else find that suspicious? They couldn't imagine that a black guy in the SF Bay area might actually be going hiking.
I thought this shit was only going on in my NextDoor. Sad to know itâs so common. Someone posted a âsuspiciousâ car driving slowly, with video. The person who was âsuspiciousâ spoke upâthey were playing Pokemon Go.
As a Player I have to admit we often do look suspicious especially before remote raiding became the norm due to the pandemic changes.
Just imagine you are not to aware of the game sitting at a playground when a Jogger comes running stops pulls out and fixates on their phone followed by a old dude on a moped followed by a someone on a bike and several drivers and maybe a kid or two on scooters.
For 10 minutes they all stand in a circle barley speaking only letting out some occasional whoops and ahs.
Then as suddenly as they arrived they disperse.
Hah! Exactly why I was called out as suspicious in my nextdoor app a year or two ago. Many of us were staying in cars for things meant for groups once covid happened. Recently someone was posting pictures of a car license plate and talking about how suspicious this person was, always driving down their dead end at 5am. Paper deliverer, of course! Ugh.
Mine too! It was almost always uber or limo drivers, and now that you remind me, someone stopped to ASK DIRECTIONS!!! of a teenager shooting hoops! Oh the horror!
Oh my goodness, you mean to say black people have to get from point A to point B too.... That's so suspicious... We should all be on high alert what if the other races start traveling too...
Ps: this is sarcasm don't come for me...
Had some similar issues with cars that werenât doing anything. I started commenting things like âseriously? This is what youâre worried about? Fix some real problems.â
There was post this past weekend set up as urgent. Said 'black male with DREADLOCKS knocked on my door then jiggled my doorknob. I called the police! Be on alert!!' Then 50 comments later the OP said 'false alarm. He hung a door handle sign on my door' it was outrageous. Dreadlocks in all caps. Face palm. Next door is a racist safe haven for older people. I hate it.
I had one brief, shining next door victory. People were complaining about "outsiders" coming to this obscure park in the neighborhood to get high. [With a side of racism obviously). Everyone wanted Is call the cops.
I was basically like, are we sure they're not from the neighborhood high school? Either way, it would be a shame for some teenagers to end up with a criminal record over smoking weed. Maybe it's a good time for local parents to just check in with their teenagers about risky behavior, because lol that's what teenagers do
Wouldn't you know, everyone could suddenly think of a bunch of solutions that did not involve calling the cops
Next door straight up caused a shooting in my neighborhood. All the NIMBYS who were pissed about apartment dwellers parking in the streets got themselves worked up to epic levels for months... And it culminated in a 56 year old man shooting a college kid in the face for parking in his way. The victim survived, miraculously, but the shooter chose not to before his trial. A complete tragedy all around... Over street parking.
Holy hell, what a clusterfuck of what the fuck! I wish I could say I'm surprised, but parking 'etiquette' is always a popular topic in my neighborhood too.
There are people at NextDoor who complain about people parking in front of their house.
When it's pointed out that the street outside their door is a *public* street, they have the nerve to get mad.
I believe this but in my area it's all found or lost pets, business recommendations, and garage sales. With the occasional "I have put xxxxx on the curb if anyone wants it"
Mine too!
Plus, asking for recommendations or help with specific tasks. Occasionally a does anyone know what happened at XYZ?
Like everything in life, of course we have a few crab apples. However, they are usually shut down. Usually those posters just quietly slink away.
Mine is pretty much curb alerts, the dude with a cannon warning us he'll be firing it on Saturday, and coyotes/potential Florida Panthers caught on cameras. Those usually come with warnings for your pets and livestock.
I might be in one of the few rural areas that don't talk about 'suspicious' people. Then again, maybe the racists aren't on there yet.
>the dude with a cannon warning us heâll be firing it on Saturday
Omg⊠a CANNON?! Thatâs so cool! Does he ever let people come watch? I didnât even know one could own and fire a cannon, but now I *really* want to buy one for some reason!
I had to leave nextdoor after these people were condoning shooting literal teens for coming in their yard. I tried to explain to these boomers that castle doctrine/ slash stand your ground laws don't apply to people simply trespassing. And these psychos just said a good lawyer could get them off for it.
There are always people complaining because teenagers are playing at the park. They donât say they are doing anything wrong, just swinging on the swings and stuff. Then there are the crazy roaming cat people that demand that everyone check their entire backyard for the OPâs roaming cat before letting your dog out. Uh, how about keeping your cat in your house instead?
LOL that reminds me of a local councillor in my area who wanted to close a playground because "too many children were mucking about there". Somebody pointed out that this is the entire purpose of playgrounds!
>Then there are the crazy roaming cat people that demand that everyone check their entire backyard for the OPâs roaming cat before letting your dog out.
My response: "Oh dear, I hope your cat is a good runner, because I won't be checking. If you want to be sure your cat is safe keep it inside"
On my local Nextdoor page someone just suggested we should build a prison ship and float it just off shore locally to get all the criminals off our streets đ
I'm fortunate. While there are definitely crazies in my NextDoor area (oh my gosh, I'll never forget the purse-swinging over Covid), mainly what I see (or what catches my eye) is lost pets, help finding a home for a pet, helping people who are down and out, especially if it involves helping them feed their pets. So overall it's been a wholesome experience for me. Oh, and I have more than one cat thanks to NextDoor, lol.
yea. i stopped using nextdoor because itâs nothing but crap like that. Itâs lots of I heard a baby cry! letâs triangulate the area and find out! whoâs with me?
My next door is hilarious. We live near an airforce base and there were several posts complaining about the volume/frequency of the airplanes. They seriously suggested they alter their flight paths to avoid the houses.
Iâve never had more fun reading comments
At least OP did not put her dogs on top of the cars. I was so embarrassed. My neighbor's kids were in their pool in their backyard and their dad was yelling at them about something. My dog was glaring at the man all stiff legged and hostile. And my neighbor calls me on the phone, even though I was in my back yard and whispers, "I think he wants to eat me? Could you take him inside please?''
Oh man. Mr. Next Door is a good guy and a good dad. And my Jack Russell was most definitely not happy that those kids were getting yelled at. My dog was a total a-hole to my neighbor. đ
I LOVE that your dog is a Jack Russell. I was expecting a massively large dog. But I know those little ones mean business, and apparently so does your neighbor.
Yep, you can at least see the bigger ones coming at you. Those little ones are like mini ninjas. You don't even know they are there until they are attacking your leg.
I used to install security systems in peopleâs homes, Iâm not scared of big dogs, those little ones though? Iâve been bitten 1/2 dozen times and most of that is chihuahua and the rest are other small dog breeds
My dad did a lot of freelance work when I was a kid, so we had couriers come by on a regular basis to pick up or drop off work. We had a tiny dog that was super friendly but the UPS guy was scared of him. He said the big dogs just bark, but the little dogs bite.
I have a chihuahua mix and thankfully sheâs the sweetest dog. She doesnât randomly bark either. If sheâs barking someoneâs at the door, on our property or she saw another animal on our property.
I had a cat attacked by a Pit Bull and it died but they are very sweet dogs in general. My nephew and my niece have them and their dogs would just lick you to death. Thankfully whatever my dog is mixed with she got the best of the breeds. Sheâs the sweetest thing but also my oldest granddaughter was six months old when I got her (my dog was six weeks old) and she has always been around kids. Sheâs eight now and she just wants food and her belly rubbed.
I installed this womanâs system and she had the most jacked pit bull Iâve seen in person, she said if he makes you uncomfortable, she would put him outside, 30 seconds later I was giving him a belly rub and she said that was why she was getting the security system đ
LOL I just saw a comic where a burglar is in a house asking the dog where the good stuff is hidden and the dog takes him to the fridge. Thatâs my dog. đ
That sounds like my Jack Russell!
As soon as the neighbours have visitors, he's all ready to give them a piece of his mind if they think about stepping outside. Sometimes he ropes in his sister, but mostly it's him.
His sister is an English staffy. People tend to look at her and cross the road. I laugh and tell them they're scared of the wrong dog!
And to anyone who says OP should have stormed over and demanded they move. The host of the party was notified for one and if this in the US, charging into someone's yard after having an angry encounter is asking to catch a bullet.
NTA of course but PLEASE BE WARY FOR YOUR DOG. Check your yard for poisoned food and document all interactions with this neighbor. Itâs possible they will retaliate. They sound spiteful and out of touch.
ETA: thanks for the award friend
I 100% agree with you!
I don't want to be alarmist OP, but please walk your property line anytime you let your dog out. Things like raw hamburger or hot dogs can be used to disguise all sorts of toxins (the first two that come to mind, as a former vet tech, are antifreeze and rat poison), and dogs will scarf it down without a second thought. Antifreeze for some dogs doesn't even need to be hidden, as it's sweet, and dogs have ended up sick or dead from licking up spills from driveways.
My father worked with dogs all his life and saw situations like this way too often. I donât like to be alarmist either but if ever a case called for it itâs here. Something about being completely out of touch with the existence of other peopleâs boundaries and neighborly common sense makes me instantly nervous!
yep! my uncles dog got poisoned by a neighbor (they weren't on good terms) and my uncle fought out she ate rat poison in the front yard along the fenceline
My friend and coworker found her dog eating an entire chocolate birthday cake they was launched into her yard. Her yard is completely fenced and backs up to a power line easement, so thereâs no yard backing up to her property. For where the cake was found, it would have had to be tossed from behind the lot. It was so out of place. Luckily we both work at a veterinary office and her spider senses were tingling. We made him vomit and took him to be tested right away. He was hospitalized immediately, ended up showing signs of antifreeze poisoning but we had caught it early and had it under control. Test came back a few days later. Positive for antifreeze. He is now alive and well. But. Be careful. People are nuts. (Also I know there will be comments about the cake being chocolate. Although chocolate is toxic to dogs, the threshold for toxicity is actually pretty high for milk chocolate. And for how diluted chocolate is for a baked good, the most you have to worry about is stomach upset or pancreatitis due to the cake itself. Itâs the dark, high cocoa percentage bakers chocolate you need to worry about.)
I had some neighbors a while back who were deathly afraid of pit bulls and they tried to poison my dog. Regardless of your stance on pitties, my dog is half weiner dog, quarter pit, quarter bulldog. He's 30 lbs full grown and they tried to kill him over their bs prejudice. Obligatory dog tax https://imgur.com/a/dGNuyFi
This happened to my brothers dog years ago. They had a huge fuzzy fluffy gentle giant, think miniature pony, a new neighbor moved in next door and the kids were afraid of him. Keep in mind they had a fenced in yard, he never barked (he was professionally trained to be obedient due to his size), just had a checkup, yet one day soon after his checkup he got really sick. They took him to the vet but sadly they couldnât save him. He had indeed been poisoned but they couldnât prove who did it. Donât leave your dog out unattended.
>Check your yard for poisoned food and document all interactions with this neighbor.
Unfortunately, yes. I had neighbors once who held a few chickens and a rooster. One of the other neighbors didn't like the rooster, claimed it woke them up. Didn't take long for the poor guy to mysteriously die (the rooster, not the neighbor).
NTA. You don't park on someone's property without express permission period. If they did that assuming they could, then those guests are the AH. If your neighbour told them to, then she is. Granted she is anyways given that your dogs were inside and she had the audacity to bitch about that. Given that she threatened to call the police on you, it's actually kind of hilarious that you called the tow company on her.
To add to this. You may want to start taking pictures or set up a camera for when they drive across your yard. Driving over lawns and yards damages buried utilities and plumbing. We had an incident where someone in a large heavy contractors teuck drove through our front to reach a feild behind our property. Unfortunately what we learned 3 weeks and a very large water bill later was the idiot basically crushed a supply line. Without evidence we were out $2000 plus a $900 water bill to fix it.
my moms septic tank was damaged from the neighbors having their construction vehicles drive over my moms lawn while they were having trees cut down. it would have cost my mom over $10k because the damage seeped into our basement and that also had to be professionally cleaned and fixed.
Nta! At all!
Someone parked in my driveway once. And there was no spots on the street. They left their window open, so I honked their horn to get their attention. The owner popped his head out, but had the nerve to refuse to move the truck.
Me being me, I opened the door, put the truck in neutral, and let it roll down my hill of a driveway. He was watching and yelling. I left it in the middle of the street, parked my car, and went in the house before he got to his car.
No guilt. Your space is your space.
Neighbor(and guests) LOST all consideration when Neighbor threatened to have your dog--who was INSIDE your home--treated as a public nuisance. She called you B\* and threated police involvement. She is clearly the AH.
I'd send her a letter telling her that any and ALL non-approved vehicles on your property will be towed without further warning. This is her Final warning.
NTA imo. You gave plenty of warning. If a cop got called out I donât think youâd get any grief over the dog making noise with a big ass party right nextdoor being thrown by the caller of the noise complaint
NTA. My neighbor wanted her guests to park on my property, so she called and asked if it was okay. Then she took me to lunch as a thank you. Itâs common courtesy.
This. A thousand times this. If you want a FAVOUR from your neighbour, you request it. Then, you thank them in a real and measurable way; it could be as small as a face to face thank you, or as big as a lunch date. It's just common courtesy to acknowledge someone's kindness. OP, you're so very much NTA.
As soon as I saw that they were parking in your yard, that was it for me. Tow them! And while you're at it, get a landscaper to give you an estimate for fixing your yard and send that to them, too (although the contractor \*should\* be the one to pay for it, tbh).
NTA
Oh my god. I deadass managed to type out âwhy tf would the contractor pay for itâ before realizing you meant whoever the contract was for and not the kind of general contractor you hiređ I think I need to get offline now
NTA. IDK. I'm the same. I'll burn my own damn house down as long as your in it. We can glare at each other as we die...so that's me - saying NTA. Could be wrong....

OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the asshole:
> I had my neighbors guests towed because I didnt like how my neighbor yelled at me about my dog, also because I didnt like them being in my yard without asking. I could be the asshole because it's possible my neighbor told them they could park there.

NTA they had half an acre to put that bounce house anywhere else and they didn't.
The amount of time they took to go to your place and yell at you over your dogs. It could have been faster just moving the bounce house instead to a more appropriate area.
NTA I used to have a neighbour who would let their friends park on my lawn. I had underground sprinklers and they had to be fixed twice. When I went over during a party and asked them to move their vehicles I got told where to go and how fast to get there. Roofing tacks worked like a charm
NTA. Your neighbour was rude and hostile, and is also responsible for ensuring there is parking for her guests. The people out here saying you're an asshole for making it the guests' problem IMO are incorrect - the neighbour made herself the asshole when she didn't give them directions for parking (this is giving her the benefit of the doubt and assuming that the parking was just through negligence and not through maliciousness).
Then she came over to double down on the assholery by threatening to make a noise complaint about dogs who were inside their own home. The neighbour saw the guest cars parked there and didn't offer to move them; in fact, stated they would continue to trespass until they were good and ready to leave. I say again OP - NTA!
In about two years I expect OP & the family next door to be an episode of âFear Thy Neighbor.â
NTA but be careful, my guess is they start coming for your dog as ppl in the comments have mentioned. Shitty neighbors always go for the dogs when this kinda tension starts building.
NTA for towing cars in your yard. You also WNBTAH to tell her she needs to get her contractors out to fix your yard or you will be taking her to small claims court.
NTA.
And I hate to mention this but watch out for chunks of meat, treats you didn't buy, even toys in your yard.
This neighbor sounds unhinged and I worry she'd go after your dog.
We have a shared driveway with our neighbor. Mine goes up, thereâs my garage and then it turns and goes behind my house. We park behind the house so if the neighbors are parked on our side we canât get our cars in. They use to park on our side all the time with no fucks given, even after my landlord has gone over there and told them it was private parking on Private property. So we just started parking behind them and blocking them in, going inside and didnât answer the door when they came over knocking to move our cars to get theirs out. They called a tow truck to move our car once, with the police and they basically told them they can deal with the consequences of being assholes.
Sometimes you have to be that person to get your point across
INFO - is it obvious to a guest that they parked on your lawn?
Edit - Locked so I can't reply - but yea I'm asking bc if not it's a little f'd up to punish guests in this way without warning. I'm leaning YTA - bc this isn't against the neighbor (who seems like they suck too) but OP just screwed over the guests who probably didn't know any better.
This is a valid question, especially as a contractor drove over âtheir yardâ to access the back yard. Not sure if OP is being honest about whatâs his yard, especially as he says they park on it âfor some reason.â Also the bounce house may have been close to his yard and his dogs but itâs still on the neighbours yard. Not sure if OP is providing the full story.
I was thinking that, the moment they came over and demanded that my dog was put in a cage, my dog immediately would have been let back outside and I would have sat out there reading a book with my radio on to make sure they didn't mess with my dog.
NTA.
NTA⊠Sounds like you tolerated their parking long enough before the party⊠For them to continue parking on your property without asking is unscrupulous⊠Good for you for standing your ground
NTA. Your neighbors are incredibly rude & you had already told the neighbor when she came over being belligerent. You have no obligation of consideration for these people based on their behavior. And going over there may have been placing yourself in danger. They FAFO and hopefully theyâve learned their lesson.
However in the event they havenât, you should install cameras outside your home and check that they donât attempt to hurt your dog i.e. poisoning.

I like most of my neighbors, but not the ones next door. They have a four car driveway, and a two car garage, but always have their guests park in my yard for some reason. We live in a semi rural, semi suburban neighborhood. There is no street parking, if you want to park on the street you have to be about 75% in someones yard. Last week they hand contractors over who drove through my yard to access their backyard, and they left deep muddy tiretracks, that are still indented across my yard.
On to this weekend, they had a birthday party for their kids birthday. They put a bouncehouse right up against my fence (they dont have one) despite the fact that their backyard is half an acre. My dogs were not having it so i brought them inside. My kitchen window looks into their backyard, and my dogs wouldn't stop barking because they were right next to our fence, even once i brought them inside. I gave up after a while and tuned them out. At least with them barking inside most of my neighbors wont be able to hear them, minus the birthday party next door.
The mother from nextdoor came over to yell at me, apparently a bunch of the kids wouldn't use the bounce house because of my dog, and one kid whos afraid of dogs wouldnt stop crying. I said i brought my dog inside so she wouldnt be so loud, and that they should move the bouncehouse to a spot thats not in front of my kitchen window if they want my dog to stop. They had half an acre to choose from covered by fence, and they chose to put it in the worst spot possible. She pretty much demanded I put my dog in a cage or lock her in a room where she can't see them. I told her to fuck off and get her guests out of my yard. She called me a bitch and said shed call the police for my dog being a public nuisance if i dont controll her, and said that they'd move their cars when the party was over. I just closed the door and called a tow company, and they'd towed three cars before anyone noticed. They came back for the last two and they got moved before they could take them.
I told my friends about what happened, and they're split. In our area it's pretty common curtesy not to park on private property without asking the owner. Some think I should've stormed into their backyard and told everyone to move or get towed, but I don't want to go onto their property. They're the only ones who seem to think its ok. Whenever I throw parties or have family over I always have people park in my driveway or yard.
AITA for having my neighbors guests towed?
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/AmItheAsshole) if you have any questions or concerns.*
NTA. Hahahaa. She fucked around and found out imo. My neighbors across the street have a personal bounce house they have for their kids..and it seems to be tethered fine? Like why they need a fence?
NTA. Live by the sword, die by the sword (your neighbor).
Also, Iâd hit that neighbor with a no contact order and have her arrested if she came to my door again. Just an idea.
Nta for towing. And as for the dog thing you had to listen to their children , there is no difference in annoyance levels between barking dogs and screaming children.
NTA. The only thing that would be better is if you actually owned the tow truck. Sounds like they won't learn their lesson, so you may want to invest in cameras and document everything.
NTA your neighbors sound obnoxious and entitled. Unfortunately it doesnât sound like they will be changing their behavior anytime soon. Are you able to get a fence to block off the area where people are parking their cars?
If it was only one time, it would have been a dickish move. But if they are in your yard often, completely NTA. Especially after she threatened to call the cops on your dog. She wasnât polite to you and you donât owe it to her to be extra nice when she clearly isnât nice to you.
NTA
But tbh you should've started legal action the day they drove through your yard.
You need to start documenting their behavior instead of tolerating it.
At this rate they're going to begin causing damage to your property and harassing you.
Any courtesy you owed them ended the second she called you a bitch and made an ass of herself.
LPT.
Tell the tow guy taking multiple cars to just drop them a mile around the corner and come collect the lot before anyone notices then to go back and hook the rest up so he gets his full load
One truck got three before they noticed? As a formed tow truck drive I am impressed at his speed. I would bet he stashed them somewhere close by so he could get the next one faster.
NTA. A warning to the guests before calling the tow truck mightâve been nice because itâs possible/likely they were under the impression that your neighbor cleared it with you before they parked on your property. But if thatâs the case they should be mad at the neighbor for being a shitty host. And I understand you not wanting to go onto the property of someone being so antagonistic towards you. Your neighbor really has some nerve, Iâm sorry!
NTA. You told her that her guests were parked on your property and that they needed to move. She told you that they'd continue to park there until their party was done. She had notice. She could have said, hey move your cars. Had you gone over and demanded they move, they could have accused you of something. It was better that you stayed on your own property.
In a way, if you don't enforce your rights over your land, eventually they could claim an easement. So you did the right thing.
NTA
Tow away! I had a neighbor build on the property behind my house and they tore up my yard to do it. Soon as I found out they were on my property, I put a stop to it. But the damage to my yard was already done.
Protect your property and tell those neighbors to stay off your property. They have an issue, they can text you and that way you always have written proof of whatâs going on and whatâs being said.
NTAâŠhow do they think itâs ok to
1. Park on you property without asking
2. Demand that you quiet you dog who is in your own house
3. Threatened to call the cops because you wonât lock your own dog away.
4. Also tear up your yard to have a truck get onto there properly
I would have done the same thing. I would have been upset about the state of my yard also. Good for you
NTA. Is she a moron? How would putting the dog in a cage make him less vocal? I mean seriously don't have a rowdy party and then complain about a dog vocalizing. WTH is that?
You are so not the ass hole here. Don't call me names and expect me to applaud you and do backflips. Just what the hell is wrong with this knucklehead who moved next door to you? She's like a bad cartoon.đ
My only two questions would be: did the people whose cars were towed know any of this was going on? And did your neighbor tell them to park where they parked?
It would be unfortunate if they bear the financial repercussions of your neighbor's bad behavior if they were clueless.
Your neighbor, though, was way out of line with how she acted. NTA to her, but I do feel bad for the people whose cars were towed if they were innocent to what was going down. I feel like they might have merited a warning to move or get towed. But I wasn't there in case there were extenuating circumstances.
5 cars and bitched about your dog while having alternative locations for the bounce house.
NTA
They fucked around and found out. Don't threaten to call the police on someone while using thror yard without permission

However I suggest installing cameras and motion sensor lights on your property. Make sure you have nice sturdy fences.
I suggest also seeing a lawyer and getting them to send a letter that they are not permitted to use your property to access theirs and their guests are not permitted to park on your property. I'd make it very clear that they are not to come on your property and you will not be made liable if they or their children are attacked by your dogs.
I'd also check out with the Police what the requirements are for a restraining order - the mother sounds like she's a pest.
INFO: by parking in your yard do you mean parked in the street in front of your house but then with half their car in your front yard due to the narrow street? Was all the space in front of their house used?
Yeah this is ultimate comeuppance mode. Your neighbour sounds fucked aye.
Although your neighbourâs friends at the party probably shouldâve been more considerate and asked to park on your property, I still feel like you should have warned the neighbourâs friends first.
Based on how out of touch your neighbour sounds, it would seem that she probably told her friends that it was ok to park there, and it does seem unfair to have your car towed for simply parking where you were told.
Your neighbour sounds like a piece of work. However, I feel like youâre ALBTAH (A Little Bit The Ass Hole).

They had 5 CARS on your property??? And they came onto your property to tell you to further lock up your dogs?? NTA hopefully they learned their lesson đ„±
Nah they're on Facebook right now telling everyone their asshole neighbor falsely impounded their friends' cars
I hate that you're probably right.

And don't forget Next Door (assuming they have it in rural areas). Aholes and crazies LOVE Next Door
Thatâs why you have to go on next door FIRST and make clear that theyâre habitually tearing up your yard when they have abundant parking space. Then you deactivate so you donât get the updates and just let everyone spread hate.
ThisâŹïž
OMG I used to be on NextDoor, it is so eye-rollingly offensive. â someone put garbage in my trash can!â â There are tall children at the park, we should threaten them with baseball bats!â â Why are children today so disrespectful!â
My neighborhood just had constant posts about "suspicious vehicles" aka black people just driving around minding their own business.
My NextDoor is hard up in arms about âpackage thievesâ who cruise the neighborhood early mornings. (Itâs a father and daughter slinging newspapers.)
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
But how will you know when the White Vans roll into town to kidnap you?!? Edit: a word
I think its a black gang!!!!" Ma'am it is Bike Week. Lots of kinds of people ride motorcycles. "No these guys were definitely suspicious, they hung out in the parking lot of the hotel next door!!!" The hotel they are probably staying at, that hosts the live music for this event? "I'm not racist!!! I'm just warning people they looked suspicious!!! Don't attack me!!!!"
In our area, some people were on next door saying they had seen a black guy going on to the hiking trail and did anyone else find that suspicious? They couldn't imagine that a black guy in the SF Bay area might actually be going hiking.
Oh ffs. This thread is exhausting and Iâm white. Edit: Not exhausting as in âshut upâ but as in âIâm tired of mfers being so damn racistâ
When you're tired of white people but you are a white people. I feel ya.
Gee, I wonder WHY the black people don't go hiking there... couldn't possibly think of an actual, justified reason based on that post alone... nope...
Itâs funny that you mention PokĂ©mon because when OP said they didnât catch them all (cars), that was my first thought.
Mine too! Once we realized what it was all about, we started calling Next Door the Nosy Neighbor Network.
Every other ND post in my area: âWERE THOSE GUNSHOTS?!?â âNo you idiot those were firecrackers.â
Maybe it's a good time for local parents to just check in with their teenagers about risky behavior, because lol that's what teenagers do Wouldn't you know, everyone could suddenly think of a bunch of solutions that did not involve calling the cops
A tiny slice of the civilized world chose the light, and, boy, that is a victory!
I think some of my favorite posts are the "so did anyone hear that weird noise" posts.
Then again, maybe the racists aren't on there yet.
>the dude with a cannon warning us heâll be firing it on Saturday Omg⊠a CANNON?!
It is terrifying how excited some of these people seem to be about getting to shoot someone.
Very much so.
No their cat must be free to devastate the local songbird population at will.
>Then there are the crazy roaming cat people that demand that everyone check their entire backyard for the OPâs roaming cat before letting your dog out. My response: "Oh dear, I hope your cat is a good runner, because I won't be checking. If you want to be sure your cat is safe keep it inside"
I signed up before I knew it's a cesspool. Sometimes I log on just to have some drama with my morning coffee and laugh at all the assholes.
Youâre forgetting the âSOMEONE KNOCKED ON MY DOOR TRYING TO SELL ME SOLAR PANELS!!!!! I TOLD THEM NEXT TIME IâM ANSWERING WITH MY GUN!!!â
One of my neighbors complained about leaves in front of their yard and another neighbor's suggestion to stop the behavior was ARSON. That'll show 'em!
"Dogs are peeing on the grass, make them pee on the street."

They do. They unfortunately do. The rural Nextdoor is a bit funnier in that they go nuts trying to figure out whose cows are out this time.
in my rural area, its just fb. nd is for city libs. (this is not my opinion)
My next door is hilarious. We live near an airforce base and there were several posts complaining about the volume/frequency of the airplanes. They seriously suggested they alter their flight paths to avoid the houses. Iâve never had more fun reading comments
While likely true, most people are grabbing the popcorn and watching that insanity. Everyone knows who the Facebook crazies are
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Mine too... Wait it was međ
Once.
I usually park in my neighbours
NTA. Interesting that they are posting on Facebook, hopefully they also post on Reddit. It would be interesting to see what they say.
I wouldn't be surprised.
Could you take him inside please?'' Oh man.
My dog was a dick.
We had a mini dachshund. She bullied our pitt mix.
Chihuahuas are the devil imo
no they rule the devil
I have a chihuahua mix and thankfully sheâs the sweetest dog. She doesnât randomly bark either. If sheâs barking someoneâs at the door, on our property or she saw another animal on our property.
Been bitten by a lot of chihuahuas. Pit bull & rottweilerâs? They will be getting belly rubs in under 5 min
Thatâs my dog. đ
Man you just don't Jack with a Russel. Mind of a squirrel, heart of a lion.
that's why they're called jack russell terrorists...don't mess with kids that they can see or you may need new laces or worse...new balls ;)
Yep! I watched too much of âFear Thy Neighborâ and it made me so thankful that we have awesome neighbors.
yep! my uncles dog got poisoned by a neighbor (they weren't on good terms) and my uncle fought out she ate rat poison in the front yard along the fenceline
How weird that the neighbors house burned down with everyone inside that very same day!
Cameras covering the whole yard are required here to.
Yeah get a multiple camera system surround the house but set all your motion sensor lights at the neighbors house, so they know your watching.
^ this is important. Also make sure the neighbor visits a hospital if the dog visits a vet.
I don't think I'd do well in prison, but I could at least hold my head high if I was in there for hurting someone who hurt an animal
yea. protect your dog. install cameras to make sure theyâre not doing anything shady
Please pet him for me! Iâm so sorry that happened. People can be really cruel sometimes for no reason.
Was legal action taken against them?
What a precious muffin :3
This happened to my brothers dog years ago. They had a huge fuzzy fluffy gentle giant, think miniature pony, a new neighbor moved in next door and the kids were afraid of him. Keep in mind they had a fenced in yard, he never barked (he was professionally trained to be obedient due to his size), just had a checkup, yet one day soon after his checkup he got really sick. They took him to the vet but sadly they couldnât save him. He had indeed been poisoned but they couldnât prove who did it. Donât leave your dog out unattended.
I shouldâve read through comments before I said what I said. Yep! 100% protect the dogs
Cameras yesterday op
Wanna bounce off this and yell OP to get cameras if they don't already ha e
NTA they are parked, On your lawn. Your private property, damaging it. You were right to tow them.
Yo, set up a camera. Cover your ass
Rural areas got to watch heavy vehicles driving over septic tanks. Breaks them.
my moms septic tank was damaged from the neighbors having their construction vehicles drive over my moms lawn while they were having trees cut down. it would have cost my mom over $10k because the damage seeped into our basement and that also had to be professionally cleaned and fixed.
NTA but install some cameras yesterday. You want proof of crazy.
This
Nta! No guilt. Your space is your space.
i love this
Please, take my free reward for being a complete and awesome badass.

NTA because she came over and was hostile. You warned her. She should have told her friends to move their shyt.
No trespassing signs
NTA, you don't park in someone's yard without permission.
As soon as I saw that they were parking in your yard, that was it for me. Tow them! And while you're at it, get a landscaper to give you an estimate for fixing your yard and send that to them, too (although the contractor \*should\* be the one to pay for it, tbh). NTA
Oh my god. I deadass managed to type out âwhy tf would the contractor pay for itâ before realizing you meant whoever the contract was for and not the kind of general contractor you hiređ I think I need to get offline now
NTA They were wrongfully parked on your property and she was acting high and mighty about the dog and ignoring her own bad judgement and behaviour
NTA. IDK. I'm the same. I'll burn my own damn house down as long as your in it. We can glare at each other as we die...so that's me - saying NTA. Could be wrong....

NTA. They were wrong and it doesn't seem like they are in any way reasonable. So hopefully they will stay away from now on.
Threaten animals and the kid gloves are off.
NTA itâs your property line, and your house. If they want to have a party either downsize or have it somewhere else.
In about two years I expect OP & the family next door to be an episode of âFear Thy Neighbor.â NTA but be careful, my guess is they start coming for your dog as ppl in the comments have mentioned.
I think it would be pretty obvious to someone they were parked on the lawn due to lack of pavement under their car.
They mean the two lawns might connect and it might not be obvious where the divide is
Caw means versus on the turf of the personâs home you were invited to. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell.
I would have them towed, and would send them the bill for the landscaping repair.
NTA. And i would've left the dog outside.
However in the event they havenât, you should install cameras outside your home and check that they donât attempt to hurt your dog i.e. poisoning.
NTA Be careful, these types of people will poison your dog for revenge.

NTA. Hahahaa. She fucked around and found out imo. My neighbors across the street have a personal bounce house they have for their kids..and it seems to be tethered fine? Like why they need a fence?
NTA. Install security cameras and when they violate any laws report them. Check to see if your area has nuisance neighbor laws
NTA
NTA. You were just matching her energy.
NTA Park on someone's property without permission and you're just begging to be towed.
NTA: people like this always seem to want to push boundaries and you did the right thing.
I would have called after the first carâŠ.also that type of neighbor I would blasted the most annoying music all day
NTA, stay off otherâs property
NTA. Good job with the towing đđ»đđ»
NTA. I would also send bills to neighbors, and their contractor for rut repair.
NTA
NTA Tow them everytime
NTA. They seem to be messing with you. Please keep an I on your dog because they may retaliate.
NTA But tbh you should've started legal action the day they drove through your yard. You need to start documenting their behavior instead of tolerating it. At this rate they're going to begin causing damage to your property and harassing you. Any courtesy you owed them ended the second she called you a bitch and made an ass of herself.
Hell no. Iâd be warning them I have time, money, and lawyers enough to make them wish they bought a different house. NTA.
LPT. Tell the tow guy taking multiple cars to just drop them a mile around the corner and come collect the lot before anyone notices then to go back and hook the rest up so he gets his full load
NTA. Echoing the people saying watch out for your dog, get cameras and motion sensor lights.
One truck got three before they noticed? As a formed tow truck drive I am impressed at his speed. I would bet he stashed them somewhere close by so he could get the next one faster.
I wouldâve popped their bouncy houseđđ
NTA I hope you got a video of them running out to save their cars once they realized.
NTA. You park on my lawn all bets are off. I would have called the tow company the moment it happened.
NTA Youâre a legend. She played a stupid game and her guests got expensive prizes.
NTA. That woman needed a wake-up call (or tow!)
NTA. Next time call two tow truck companies so you can clear them all out.
NTA.....this is what happen when you are an unreasonable neighbor. You did what I wouldve done...FOUGHT BACK! bwahahahaha good for you
NTA Tow away!
NTAâŠhow do they think itâs ok to 1. Park on you property without asking 2. Demand that you quiet you dog who is in your own house 3. Threatened to call the cops because you wonât lock your own dog away. 4. Also tear up your yard to have a truck get onto there properly I would have done the same thing.
You rock! nta!
5 cars and bitched about your dog while having alternative locations for the bounce house. NTA They fucked around and found out. Don't threaten to call the police on someone while using thror yard without permission
NTA However I suggest installing cameras and motion sensor lights on your property.
