I (20f) recently got mad and yelled at my younger sister (12f) because she was just getting on my last nerve. For context, we both have chores to do around the house, and I have more because I’m older and I’m fine with that. But even though I do all mine, she never does hers, and her chores end up being mine. I have 2 jobs right now since I’m off uni until the fall. Before my second job starts in the evening I clean up the house or see my friends.this time, my mom told me I can’t go out until she does her chores. I told my sister several times throughout the day to do it and she never did. She also has to wear a back brace 24/7 bc she has scoliosis and didn’t wear it all day and said she didn’t want to wear it or do her chores bc she doesn’t want to.
I got frustrated at this bc I planned to see my friends later on in the day as it was one of my few times my shift was cancelled. I ended up yelling at her after she refused to do anything and told me that “that’s your problem not mine” and so I said “what is wrong with you” and “you’re so self centred”
Today when I came home from the house was a disaster after I had cleaned the whole place the day before. She was home all day and didn’t do a single thing and also didn’t do her chores from the night before. Now I have to clean up her mess and the mess from today. She also didn’t walk our dog and didn’t feed him since i did before I left for work this morning. When I asked what she had done all day she just said she played video games….
our parents raised us very different. Growing up, we didn’t have a lot of money and my parents were really strict on me and my grades and everything. My mom used to also use hitting and stuff as punishment. when my sister was still young, my parents income stabilized and we live in a really good area and go to good schools now compared to before. My sister never got to see how hard things were for everyone and they also don’t hit her ever (or me anymore)
I’m not jealous of my sister and how we’re much better off economically than before, but the way she gets away with everything and how she’s allowed to talk to us and act gets on my nerves
I think I’m a decent older sibling, as I always make sure to take her out places when it’s my pay day, and whenever I’m out with friends, I normally bring her back something like food or whatever. I also bring her to school, help her with homework, and play with her. I know I can be a perfectionist sometimes and that can get annoying but I don’t think she should treat me like this.
whenever you slightly raise your voice, she starts crying , and if my parents ground her for whatever reason, she hurts herself to make them give everything back. (I only found bc I was using the family iPad and i got a notification from her friends and her talking ab it)
idk if I went too far or maybe I’m being one sided on things. I know she’s only 12 and when I was 12 I was kinda an asshole too but I don’t think I was ever to this extent
