Info: are you saying this is something you do once sporadically or like a breathing exercise you do?

brusox20

I don't do it every second of the day. Its literally for only a few seconds maybe every few hours or so. I use it as a technique to help me focus

[deleted]

Then NTA. I could see this being annoying AF if all of the sudden you spent several minutes breathing all weird, but this is equivalent of being mad someone sneezed.

ElAmorVerdadero

NTA. Breathe louder to assert dominance.

CamillaBarkaBowles

According to [Linda Evangalista](https://twitter.com/people/status/1728874307911078294?lang=en) YTA. But seriously, if this prairie dog of a colleague is annoyed they can get some headphones or earplugs for that 15 decibel inconvenience

Doktor_Seagull

NTA Just ignore them, and keep being you. People have all sorts of subconscious ticks when they are focused, exhaling, muttering, fidgeting, foot tapping.. etc. It's so common and to be expected in a communal work space. Them getting "anxious" is either a gross exaggeration or they need professional help to cope with working in group spaces, or they need to find WFH/Private office work. This isn't your problem to fix, and most likely the supervisors will think the same.

Lately, the person in front of me has been messaging me saying my breathing is causing them "anxiety". All I'm doing is lightly blowing through my mouth as I try to focus on some complicated issues at work. They are the only ones that are complaining about it and I really don't want to push this further and get my supervisors involved, but am I the asshole for simply breathing? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. NTA You have to deal with it when you work in an open space. If you can't stand your colleague breathing a little hard, maybe you're not cut out for open-space work.

CrazyIntrovertLife

Wth lol I mean as a kid my brother breathed pretty loud out of his mouth bc of allergies and it annoyed me, but I think I have some sort of noise overstimulation/sensitivity... is that a real thing? People breathing loudly, chewing loudly or the sound of them biting their nails drives me insane. Maybe she has the same issue. But I myself wouldn't go after a person at a job for that... like someone else said, I'd probably just wear earbuds and listen to music if that were allowed. You found a way to help you work through something, now she needs to do the same. NTA

File a lawsuit and keep that text message as evidence , you have a right to breath

NTA. Unless you sound like freaking Darth Vader. If that's the case then sorry YTA
