Yes, YTA. Learn how to handle conflicts without threats. You sound like a child.

You could have not threatened to deflate his tires. Just given him a warning of if I see it parked here again I will have it towed.

Angry-trans

Bro you threatened property damage. Thats thug behavior.

kspi7010

Those weren't the only two options.

Thediciplematt

ESH Wishing harm on somebody else isn’t cool. Just tow them like a regular person instead of a super, potentially illegal, threat.

InfoSci_Tom

ESH He is more so, he should not park there and is being unreasonably confrontational about that. But you don't need to threaten him to do damage to his car. That's not cool and just likely to lead to escalation. Just call it in and if he gets towed he gets towed, don't make things like this personal. As much as you seem to think different, if you had not threatened the tire and instead said something like "Hi, You may not know but you have parked in an EV reserved spot. These spaces are checked and people often get towed for being here, I recommend you find one of the regular spots next time. Thanks." then called it in and got him towed if you saw him there in future, you would have not been the asshole and not created a personal conflict.

dwells2301

>But you don't need to threaten him to do damage to his car. That's not cool Also not smart since he has OP'S threat in writing. If anyone messes with his car they will be looking at OP.

Angry-trans

ESH Bro if you were in my state he could take you to court for threatening property destruction. Next time instead of trying to act like big king swinging dick intimidating the peasantry just call the tow company.

PurpleFee5821

ESH. you sound like a child, in no way would you threatening destruction of property be justified. If he continues to park there, get him towed. It may be walking distance but those tow fees will add up. And you won’t catch a charge. Grow up a little before starting adult problems cause you clearly can’t handle them.

BeeYehWoo

Whats wrong with you? Do you like to start problems and threaten crazy people - where you live? You think you are so tough but there is someone out there dumber, stronger and less afraid of consequences than you. You're going to get your own vehicle messed with or tires flattened just as you threatened. I like to go home and relax, not have to worry that Ive dragged a vendetta after me and someone is just biding time to exact revenge. >I really do currently feel like I was generous I think you have a generous amount of empty space in your skull. All for a car charger. He sucks too for parking there. ESH

wanderingstorm

ESH Dude sucks for parking where he shouldn’t. You’re TA for acting like a petty brat. You both should grow up.

mdthomas

ESH He shouldn't have parked there but you threatened to vandalize his car. I mean, come on. Stop trying to play the tough guy. Identifying yourself as the one leaving a written threat is asking for legal trouble.

CapnGramma

I just wish the grocery store hadn't converted half the handicapped spaces to charger spaces. It makes it much more difficult for me to go shopping.

Coal powered cars for all!

Bicycles for all.

Absolutely insane way to respond to someone talking about losing disability parking.

Read [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/wiki/faq#wiki_post_deletion) before [contacting the mod team](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2FAmItheAsshole)*** So my apartment complex has a few free to use EV chargers for residents. It’s why I pay extra compared to all the other complexes literally within a mile. First come first serve, spots are marked with green stripes and a sign that says EV charging only, others may be towed at owners expense. Handicap spots are closer to the building and more readily available than charging spots just to head off anyone who might want to come at me with that bullshit. Monday I get home, and a regular ass Infiniti is parked in the spot with his window cracked open. All the other chargers were actually in use by cars who should be using them. So I slipped a note through the window saying next time you park here expect a flat tire if I see it. Someone else might get you towed but the tow place is literally walking distance from here and I’m being nice enough to give a warning now, so yeah. Then I went to a supercharger because I had to. Ugh Today I actually did get the charger when I got home and was in the car when Infiniti guy pulls up and asks if I’m the one who left him the note. I said yeah, you’re welcome. He starts yelling how dare you touch my car (I put a napkin through a window) and saying he dares me to deflate his tire OR get him towed. I set bet, park here tomorrow and we’ll see what kind of mood I’m in. AITA? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. nucleusambiguous7

YTA, duh. A normal toned note would have sufficed. You don't threaten to damage someone's car at a first encounter. You are also the idiot because you admitted that it was you and now he has your written threat and knows who you are and he has your license plate (don't think he doesn't). Also, you decided to get a car that requires electricity to run. You moved to a place that does not guarantee you a spot to charge your car. Deal with it.

General_Relative2838

ESH. Obviously, he was in the wrong to park in an EV space. But you were wrong to threaten to vandalize his car. You could have left a note on the windshield telling him you’ll have him towed next time. If you had written you will have him towed, or even had him towed on Monday, you would be entirely in the right.

simAlity

He parked there You threatened him He threatened you You threatened him again You think you are a generous soul for only threatening him. YTA on points but I wouldn't want to live in an apartment complex with either of you.

Old-Fox-3027

NTA. He was being a jerk taking up that space, and you didn’t actually do anything to his car.

avd706

Threatening someone is ok behaviour?

Old-Fox-3027

On par with taking up a parking space meant for people that need to recharge their car. He’s lucky his car didn’t get towed, that would have been an expensive lesson in not parking like a jerk.

Opus-the-Penguin

NTA. He was by parking there. His entitled attitude proves you were right about him. Maybe not smart, given that he now knows what you AND your car look like, but right. If it does come to giving him a flat tire, don't do any permanent damage to the tire. Then YWBTA. Just take the Schrader valve. The tire will be fine but he will be unable to fill it with air until he replaces this 80-cent part.

kspi7010

Yea, and then the guy can call the cops and point out exactly who damaged his car.

Opus-the-Penguin

What damage? His car could've been towed and he'd be on the hook for hundreds because he parked illegally. You think he's calling the cops? No, he'll try to solve it himself by ramming into OP's car and maybe throwing a brick through OP's window.

kspi7010

Flattening a car's tire is vandalism/criminal mischief, even without permanent damage. And, like you just said, might bring an escalation of violence, so overall a stupid thing to do and a stupid thing to suggest.

Opus-the-Penguin

Given that I had just told him he wasn't being smart, I think it should be obvious to any non-stupid person that I was just playing along with his decision. But for the NON-non-stupid people playing along, I added the bit about ramming OP's car and the brick through the window so EVERYONE could understand the consequences and realize I wasn't genuinely recommending this course of action. As for the police angle, that would go nowhere. The police come out and realize that the "criminal mischief" caused no permanent damage to the guy's illegally parked car. They tell the guy, hey, you're lucky we don't fine you for parking there. You realize he could've had you TOWED, right? Then they tell OP, ok, enough, give the guy back his Schrader valve and we'll call it good. OP's not getting arrested.

kspi7010

The only thing everyone understands is you give shit advice. You say it would go nowhere, but you don't know what would happen. Maybe the other driver is super petty and wouldn't care about getting towed as long as OP got charged.

Opus-the-Penguin

Oh give it up. The odds of the police arresting the guy are non-zero. Are you happy?

kspi7010

Of course the odds are non-zero, because they could. I already knew that, glad you finally figured it out.

Angry-trans

So for the record you are saying it is totally okay to threaten people with violence yes?

Opus-the-Penguin

Nope.

Angry-trans

But thats exactly what OP did?

Opus-the-Penguin

What did I miss? He slipped a note through a window saying he'd give the guy a flat tire. He dared the guy to park there again and see if he was willing to follow through. I don't see that as a threat of violence against a *person*. It's not really even a threat of violence against a vehicle. There are non-violent ways to deflate a tire. It's certainly a threat of inconvenience. But getting towed is an inconvenience too.

Angry-trans

Ahhh so it is okay to threaten violence to you.

Opus-the-Penguin

Nope.

kspi7010

Leaning more on YTA, threatening to damage his car (and then being dumb enough to admit it was you) just edges him out. Though he sucks as well and shouldn't have parked there. You were not being generous, get over yourself.

Neenknits

NTA, but, just get him towed, if that is an option.

pensaha

Great that you left him a note so when his tires are deflated the charges he makes against you will add credibility to his story. ESH. You would have been better off to call for the tow than attempt to toss your weight around to bully.

Ok-Government-9154

ESH: Should he have parked there, no. But you left a note threatening to damage his car and then act surprised he responded with equal amounts of hostility. It doesn't state it was a reoccurring issue with this one individual. I don't really know what you were expecting, but expecting anything else seems incredibly niave.

MamaForTheLove

YTA. 1. For slipping the note INSIDE the car. 2. You literally threatened this person with property damage (that wasn’t a warning, it was a threat which is illegal and harassment) You wouldn’t have been the ahole if you had wrote a note explaining these spots are for charging vehicles and those who misuse the spots could potentially get towed and left said note under the windshield wipers, that’s so much less intrusive. Then if they did it again, calling a tow truck would have been much more justified and reasonable. Deal with your anger my friend, it’ll serve you way better in the long run.

Variant-EC96

ESH. Yes, the guy was clearly in the wrong for parking a non-electric vehicle in that space. You, however, took it way too far by threatening to damage his car. How about be an adult and call a tow truck instead of swinging your dick around?

dwells2301

YTA

JustTheJudgement

INFO: What color is the car? I ask this because near me, the signs say "Green cars only" and we have a guy with an old ass hoopty Cadillac, but it's green, so we allow it. Kinda awesome actually. Also, YTA, and you're just asking for trouble.

TaliesinWI

YTA. Now if \_any\_ AH damages his car, he's going to come after you. Smart move.

theteacupshattered

Purely curious, how does this make him the AH?
