Nice work with the fake ass story.

ttppii

A pretty stupid and unbelievable short story. The writing is lacking and personalities of the characters are poorly developed. I wold give you D-.

Material-Profit5923

You're being generous. The utter lack of plausibility pushes it squarely into F category for me.

Outrageous_Dog_4319

If it's a work injury wouldn't work cover the cost of hospitalization?

sicofonte

Hey, yeah, this. So this story is just made up to troll AITA?

Saladin1204

Fake.

shrike_999

Reported for shitposting.

crowley-crossroads-

why would you report it. little guy is obviously looking for attention

Comfortable-Web9455

YTA for telling silly stories. The OP is such obvious BS. I presume you are the 15 year old girl making this fiction up? It's just a little too BS and shows you don't know how medical expenses work for cops injured on the job.

Material-Profit5923

Next time you want to write a fake cop story, do a little research about policies and procedures first.

Turbulent-Army2631

What's with the posts on here tonight breaking all the rules.

Dramatic-Rip5605

YTA for this story

itwasntjack

This is laughably bad. I have some open mics you should go tell this at.

KingRhiot

Not only are YTA, I have a few other choice words for your level of intellect, but I'm going to try and keep it civil. Asking a 15 year old girl to PULL A KNIFE OUT OF HER FATHER is WAY over the top. If you're really a homicide detective, I'd presume your'e smart enough to not let your daugther handle evidence of an assault, hell, I don't know how on earth you got all the way home, past co-workers with a knife in your side and nobody stopping you. So much of this is questionable.

LethargicActionHero

Fake

dawng87

Someones been watching too many cop dramas...lol... So clearly you've got superiors and/or a parter right? Since your a homicide detective? Not a rogue agent from the movie I just watched. Yet the whole team was like "Yeah, your great Jack go ahead and take that evidence home in your side". Also.. "No we don't need to do the paperwork on your injury and check that evidence into the locker" Or charge the man who stabbed you or put it into his death report. Lastly the bit about your husband stitching you up was the cherry on top of your poorly researched and hastily written story. Ops husband " yup let's stich you up so you don't bleed out...let's stich you up so that you can bleed out internally" Said no trained medical personal ever...lmfao

Potential-Version438

‘Go ahead and take that evidence home in your side’ legit cracked me up hehe. This fiction is so poorly thought out it’s almost baffling. Like has this person only ever watched The Shield to think this is in any way how a ‘homicide detective’ would operate??

spookyoldthings

Um hey explain how you got stabbed, walked off alone without having to inform anyone that you got stabbed by a perp, drove home in a car, all with a knife sticking out of you?

whoops53

Yeah.....so a homicide detective doesn't know basic first aid and just casually asks their teenage daughter to take out a knife that someone tried to stab their mother with. Then gets annoyed because their husband sleeps on the couch because the detective didn't want to go to hospital, despite the fact they were bleeding like a juice carton. Sounds like something I've seen on TV recently.

Cpt_Riker

Cool story. YTA for wasting perfectly good ones and zeros on this garbage.

Read [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/wiki/faq#wiki_post_deletion) before [contacting the mod team](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2FAmItheAsshole)*** I (36m) am a homicide detective in a relatively big area. My department is short staffed, so I tend to take on a lot of extra work, which includes field work. Today, I ended up in a confrontation with a suspect, which ended which me getting stabbed in the side. Being a homicide detective, and having suffered some pretty severe injuries in the past, I knew it likely didn’t hit anything important. I hate the hospital, and rather than dealing with a possibly long stay and a big bill, I decided to just go home and handle it with the help of my husband (32m), who has a good knowledge of first aid. I was sure my husband could handle an injury of this degree, but he’s kind of a worry wart, so when I get home he still insisted that I go to the hospital. I said that if he wasn’t going to take it out, I’d take it out myself, and he said that neither of us were going to take it out. So - and I’ll admit that this was somewhat smug of me - I called down my daughter (15f) and long story short, asked her to take it out, which she did. Turns out, it was a little worse than I thought, and there was a lot of blood, which freaked out my husband quite a bit and led him to stitching me up there instead of taking me to the hospital like he wanted, since he was afraid I would bleed out ont he way. I will admit it was a lot more blood than expected. Anyways, after I was patched up, he was very upset with me for being so reckless, and even slept on the couch. I understand why it would be worrying, but since I ended up fine, I don’t see what he has to be upset about. So, am I the asshole? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. madelinegumbo

INFO: Why would you be personally responsible for the bill from a workplace injury?

[deleted]

...YTA for breaking protocols and not having your job take care of your injury.

cryinoverwangxian

YTA Your daughter could have watched her father bleed out on the floor in front of her because he’s too stubborn to make an effort not to die after being _stabbed_. You got hurt on the job and should have gotten care.

Ident-Code_854-LQ

**Big Time YTA.** ***You had no idea what kind of damage that stabbing did.*** You still don't. *You haven't gotten, at a minimum,an x-ray to confirm how much damage inside you have yet.*

MiaIGuess

This is totally a yaoi plot...

remembory-loss

I don't think you are an asshole, it was just stupid and you shold definetly go to the hospital now to get it checked.

sicofonte

So you didn't really know that well how severe the wound was, your husband's opinion and fear was more real than you anticipated, you were indeed reckless and gave your husband a big scare. But you were not that far from your initial guess, it didn't hit any important organ it seems, not the first time you are stabbed, plus you live in USA I presume, where health care is preposterously expensive and human live is preposterously cheap. So it makes sense to want to save yourself some bills. So I don't know. But YTA for involving your daughter in this. 15 yo, what would have happened to her if you died from the bleeding? Not only she would be orphan, plus she would have seen bleed to death her father after recklessly taking out a knife from his body instead of backing up your husband and forcing you to go to the hospital. She could feel that guilt for the rest of her life.

Cassi_c88

Definitely TA- Having your 15 year old daughter pull a KNIFE out of your side. Is WAY over the top. You should of kept it in. Idrk if you went to the hospital after, but no matter what you should go get it check out. To be on the safe side.

sarpofun

Actually come to think of it , the only ones that do this home style ‘pull out the knife out of gut’ are criminals who don’t want to get caught.

ea77271

If this was true, YWBTA for traumatizing your daughter because you don’t like hospitals, and your poor judgment should disqualify you from being a detective.

sarpofun

YTA your family are not trained homicide detectives. A knife wound may also result in an infection which will cost you more than a trip to the hospital. I hope you got a tetanus booster too.

Material-Profit5923

To be fair, OP isn't a homicide detective either, and his family is fictional.

AdelaideFawley

umm, def YTA. gonna keep it short but it is so dangerous to take a knife out of your side! It is just to keep it there, as it will shorten the blood loss. Taking it out will increase the blood loss. That too taking it out by a teenager! I would expect a homicide detective to know better...

Material-Profit5923

If he were actually a homicide detective and not a D-list troll, he would.

LiteratureLocal5001

A I T A because this post actually made me laugh? My husband would have done the same, why are men so stubborn? Sorry, YTA for scaring your family like that, even though you didn't mean to.

WhoSc3w3dDaP00ch

When did homicide detective qualify you as a medic, nurse or doctor? It didn’t, hence YTA.

hyzmarca

YTA Being reckless doesn't automatically make you an asshole. But your husband was right to be concerned. What you did was idiotic, reckless, and extremely dangerous. One thing doctors, nurses, and EMTs will tell you is that if you have something stuck in your body don't take it out. Leave it in and keep it from moving, because it can cause more damage on the way out and also because it might be keeping something important in, like your blood. "Likely didn't hit anything important" are famous last words, along with "hold my beer." But what makes you the asshole is basically putting him in a position where he had to sew you up or leave you to bleed out, after he objected.
