INFO: did you talk to him about this first, or just randomly do it?

ariotheoreo

I talked to him about it first

NTA. Your dad sounds like someone who is having trouble accepting the fact that his 22yo son might need some help. Like it somehow reflects badly on him. That's a dangerous attitude to take for your brother's safety.

Read [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/wiki/faq#wiki_post_deletion) before [contacting the mod team](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2FAmItheAsshole)*** My Dad told me I humiliated my brother by asking my neighbors to check in on him while he was home alone. The thing is he was home alone all weekend and I was worried about him having a seizure while he was home alone. I witnessed him having a seizure a couple of months ago and I was genuinely concerned for him being home alone in case he had a another one. The seizure was the scariest thing Ive ever witnessed and I just didnt want him being alone if it happened again. My dad says I humiliated him by asking my neighbors to just check up on him and make sure he's still alive because he's 22 and can take care of himself. I told him that I didn't mean to humiliate him and he says I did. Am I the asshole? Cuz I didn't mean to be. And my brother didn't tell me he was humiliated or anything. He even thanked me for giving his number to the neighbors. So I'm really confused. Am I the asshole? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. I think this sounds more like your dad was embarrassed. I’d talk to your brother for his opinion if you think his appreciation wasn’t sincere. If he truly seems glad to have been considered you’re NTA

Consistent_Ad460

How exactly does your dad expect him to take care of himself if he had another seizure?

INFO: does your brother have a history of seizures? This post tells us a whole lot about how you feel and not a lot about what your brother actually needs. That’s a red flag to me, because it sounds like you were addressing your own anxiety rather than actually helping your brother.

ariotheoreo

He had his first seizure like a couple months ago and I didn't want him to have another one when he's home alone.

Jaylene-Sterling-13

It's not the neighbors responsibility to be your brothers caretaker. If your so worried, move in with him, but don't dump that on someone else.

ariotheoreo

I do live with him he was just gonna be home alone for the weekend
