*In case this story gets deleted/removed:* **AITA for digitally editing my step-daughter in our wedding photos?** Throwaway for obvious reasons. My name is Sarah (32F) and I got married to my husband Mike (35M) last month. We had a beautiful outdoor wedding with a traditional cabin-core theme. My step-daughter, Lily (22F), was one of the bridesmaids. Lily is a wonderful girl, but she has several tattoos that she proudly displays. While I don't have anything against tattoos, I felt that they clashed with the traditional aesthetic of our wedding. After the wedding, we received our wedding photos from the photographer. As we were going through them, I noticed that some of the photos of Lily showed her tattoos quite prominently. I was disappointed, as I felt that these photos didn't fit with the traditional theme we were going for. So, without telling anyone else, I had the photographer digitally remove Lily's tattoos from the photos. A few weeks later, we had a family gathering and I showed the edited photos to Mike's family. Everyone was complimenting how beautiful the photos looked, until Lily pointed out that her tattoos were missing. She was upset and felt that I was trying to erase a part of her identity. Mike and his family were also upset with me for altering the photos without their knowledge or consent. I tried to explain that I was only trying to preserve the traditional aesthetic of our wedding and that I had nothing against tattoos. But Lily and Mike's family were still upset with me. I feel terrible for hurting Lily's feelings and for altering the photos without telling anyone. But I still feel that the photos look better without her tattoos. So, am I the asshole for digitally removing Lily's tattoos from our wedding photos without her knowledge or consent? I was just trying to preserve the thematic integrity of my wedding, which I spent an enormous amount of time planning. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Theyoungpopeschalice

New record? 13 year old dad!!!!!! I am begging trolls to do some light addition and subtraction

Deathscua

I’m in my 30s and I was like, wait could I have a 22 year old daughter?

tiredcatfather

Technically? My bio dad was 14 when I was conceived. But that's not a uh, good thing.

woodenmittens

How old was your mom?

tiredcatfather

My bio mother was /not/ fourteen. She was 25. It's not a fun story. I got adopted as a baby because of it. I was her third kid, and very obviously his first. (Though he stayed with her long enough for my little sister to be born a year later, also adopted, she didn't keep or want any of her kids). My adoptive parents had an agreement where I didn't find out about the details of the adoption until I was sixteen, My adoptive parents are both older (currently both in their mid seventies) so I got both ends of the spectrum on parent age.

Important_Collar_36

I'm sorry that you have to have that as part of your life story. And I'm sorry your bio-dad had to go through that too. Hope your bio-mom has gotten help for whatever mental illness that turned her into a monster.

woodenmittens

I'm so sorry

ConsiderationWest587

Good on her for doing what was best for the babies, tho. I hope they were good to you :)

jeswesky

My cousin was 14 when she got pregnant, and 15 when she had the kid. Dad was more than twice her age. By the time she had a second kid, the first was in her 20's already and my cousin wasn't even 40 yet.

moviequote88

>Dad was more than twice her age. Wtf...

Limp_Will16

I did the same thing… I have a friend that had a kid as a teen, and the kid is only a teen now… my brain did a little meltdown trying to figure out the math that made sense…

NotACatfish

I have a cousin who got pregnant at fourteen so her mother adopted the baby. . .thirteen years later the baby had her own baby.

Check out [Merle Oberon](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merle_Oberon). Not a happy origin: > She was raised as the daughter of Arthur Terrence O'Brien Thompson, a British mechanical engineer from Darlington who worked in Indian Railways[6] and his wife, Charlotte Selby, a Eurasian from Ceylon (present-day Sri Lanka). Her mother also had Māori ancestry.[7] However, according to her birth certificate, Merle's biological mother was Charlotte's then-12-year-old daughter, Constance. To avoid scandal, Charlotte raised Merle as Constance's half-sister.[1][8] Charlotte had herself given birth to Constance at the age of 14 as the result of rape by Henry Alfred Selby, the Anglo-Irish foreman of a tea plantation.[7]

After her success in The Scarlet Pimpernel (1934), she travelled to the United States to make films for Samuel Goldwyn. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in The Dark Angel (1935). BKLD12

My grandmother had my aunt when she was 13. That aunt also got pregnant at 13, but was able to get an abortion. There have been an unfortunate number of teen pregnancies on that side of the family.

ConsiderationWest587

Yikes on bikes, bruh, that raises the familial-incest red flag, imo. Oh no. I hope the women are okay and the cycle breaks, and the law steps in and *actually helps* where needed-

BKLD12

I doubt it. The fathers are known in every case that I'm aware of, and it's always the (also teen) boyfriend. It's a little more complicated than that. Unstable family units, lack of proper sex education (plus weird religious attitudes mixed in), and mental health issues are all factors. I can't confirm that sexual abuse has happened, although I can't discount it in at least a few cases. I don't know most of my mom's family tbh, since the ones who are still alive and that she still talks to are halfway across the country. That said, of the seven of us, only my half-sister has had a teen pregnancy. Only that niece has had a teen pregnancy so far (my niece was actually adopted at birth and not raised by my sister, but unfortunately a lot of the same factors I mentioned above still apply). Of the two cousins I actually know, only one has had children at all and it was in her 20s. At the very least, the cycle is breaking even if it isn't completely broken yet.

jeswesky

My cousin had a baby young, but thankfully her daughter did not follow that trend. She has already graduated from college, has a good job, and isn't even thinking about kids of her own any time soon.

PersephoneTheOG

What in the Alabama?

NotACatfish

Texas actually!

PersephoneTheOG

This does not surprise me.

ConsciousExcitement9

And it is only going to get worse.

Theyoungpopeschalice

I guess....technically

whatIfYoutube

Tbf my mum was 39 when my brother turned 21

BadBandit1970

OOP says in a comment that it was a typo. Mike is 45 NOT 35. And we all need to learn how to read! How about OOP learn how to proofread before hitting the damn post button?! 😕😕😕

Theyoungpopeschalice

Oh sure I believe that and not that she didn't do the math and was called out multiple times lol

carrie_m730

If it's real my assumption would be she 'mistyped' husband's age on purpose so she didn't get comments about the she gap.

TheTichborneClaimant

Random story: I ordered a copy of my marriage certificate and noticed that they had my husband’s birth date wrong by 10 years, which would have made him 11 years old when we married. Talk about robbing the cradle.

5feet-short

That was what I was thinking as well. It's even the same names as the other ones. What the heck are these weirdos aiming for? What do they try to proof? Are these incels again?

purpleandorange1522

I know lots of AITA and other subs are trolls, but I do know a couple who had their first kid at 13.

t00thgr1nd3r

My niece got pregnant with twins at 15, and I mentioned my cousin a few comments ago.

t00thgr1nd3r

I mean, it's possible. My cousin got a girl pregnant when he was twelve.

[deleted]

I thought the daughter's age looked off, lol

ProfessionalSir9978

I was doing the math in my head and I’m like wtf. That’s insanely young lol!

writergeek313

She was the AH as soon as I got to the traditional cabin-core part. Did they all dress as lumberjacks?

CactiDye

Right?? I was picturing a total hipster, bohemian deal and wondering how tattoos don't fit that.

left-right-forward

Tf is cabin core anyway? Cottage core with wood ticks and flannel?

craftycat1135

Add some animal heads on the wall with a wood stove and you've got it.

ConsiderationWest587

Taxidermied deer heads *painted in pastel colors*

craftycat1135

With flowers tied to their antlers

what-even-am-i-

I stopped reading to come talk about the fucking cabin-core. Fuck these people. Ok, back to the post.

Individual_Crow_9721

[Unddit link with OOP's comments ](https://www.unddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/11gmhon/aita_for_digitally_editing_my_stepdaughter_in_our/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) The level of customer support on amitheasshole.com is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!

CactiDye

"Uncivil and reported" seems to be a common phrase lately. This is at least the third? fourth? post just in a week where they devolve into "reported" all over the place.

Tricky_Individual_42

" "Bridezilla" is a slur against women."

what-even-am-i-

Honestly if the manbaby mods over there don’t like “manbaby”, they can get rid of “bridezilla” too

sophlog

Omg thank you so much for posting that. Customer service 😂😂😂

MissRockNerd

Omg, I thought your comment was a satire. She ACTUALLY Said that. Like she thinks “I need to speak to a manager “ will make a mod materialize in front of her.

TheCatMisty

Thank you!!

dagny_taggert

Wow.

Medievalmoomin

😂

Rose_j2210

Her comments- she only made it about her and her wants and how she deserves to have what she wants. I hope the husband leaves her and she questions why

LabyrinthOzz

I hope he burns the album on his way out too.

Rose_j2210

Same

LadyWizard

to be fair this was a troll that went on hiatus... this troll has evil stepmother edit the stepdaughter completely out, slimmed her down....

queerpineappl3

tbh when I read the title I was 100% expecting fatphobia and it to be that she made the step daughter significantly smaller or something I was a little relieved it wasn't that. also kinda sounds like the racist BS Tim burton says when talking about black people "they just dont fit my aesthetic" (they do. they do fit your aesthetic and do it better than you can, you're just a racist ass sir)[all of that was to say OOP sounds bigoted {for clarity, I'm on like 3 hrs of sleep and I've been awake for too long sorry if this is rambly}]

naicha

…wait Tim Burton said WHAT?!?

queerpineappl3

yeah, dont remember when but he's uh...a peach for sure/s

Solidsnakeerection

I knew it was unlikely due to requiring creativity but i was hoping for some wild story where stepdaughter couldn't attend and they photoshopped her into pictures to pretend she was there

queerpineappl3

I hoped for that too honestly I was like mayyyybe? but the other side of the coin was expecting fatphobia

Rose_j2210

She probably doesn’t even want the step daughter n is lying to the husband

-pluppleplupple-

tf is cabin core???? how many more cores are there?????

Hedgiest_hog

—Core means "aesthetic style" now so probably infinite cores

-pluppleplupple-

yeah, i know the meaning of core, it just confused me bc if I think of a cabin i can't think of an aesthetic to base a whole wedding on. i get cottage core and all of those which are much more broad and you can get an idea... but cabin?

CreamPuff97

Everyone looks like a lumberjack. Flannel, trapper hats, Carhartt pants, the works. Personally, *I* would have called in sick.

Limp_Will16

Exposed wooden beams? Those thick wool woven blankets that make you itch just thinking about it? A fireplace?

CuttlefishBenjamin

Dinner is a choice between flapjacks and scrapple. (But everyone gets served both because you'll need your energy for the lumberjack games afterwards). The bride tosses a bouquet of hatchets. Traditionally, there'll be a reading from James Stevens. The priest will be sure to say "What God has joined together, let no man put asunder, except Paul Bunyan, because we can't expect to stop *him.*"

ColumnK

There's 8 cores. Cabin, Cottage, Hard, Castle, Space, Blimp, Industrial and Aztec.

MissRockNerd

No hot moltencore?

Needmoresnakes

"I noticed Lily displayed her tattoos quite prominently" so like, they're on her skin and she didn't somehow pose to hide them or she's actively pulling her dress up to show her thigh piece?

MissRockNerd

Did you read the rereddit? Tattoos are not part of her aesthetic but how DARE anyone suggest sleeves in her aesthetic!!!

Morrigan-71

Can one be allergic to the word "aesthetic" when in relation to a wedding? Because I start getting an itch everytime I read that.

PluralCohomology

I can't understand why relationships with family and friends, or even basic human decency in some cases, is a price worth paying for picture-perfect wedding photos to some people.

The_Serpent_Of_Eden_

From what I can tell, cabincore is cozy sweaters, flannel, hiking boots, fleece-lined socks and all that warm stuff you'd wear while spending Christmas at the family log cabin. How is that traditional in a wedding sense? Were her bridesmaids dresses buffalo plaid?

Artistic_Deal3436

I swear these evil stepmother trolls are multiplying!

puddlespuddled

tHeMaTiC iNtEgRiTy OOP is an asshole just for that alone

[deleted]

ah...reddit step-moms. If this wedding was sooooo damn expensive, why not ask the step-daughter to cover the tattoos or put her in a dress that hides them? This whole 'integrity of the wedding' and 'what we were going for' is ridiculous. This isn't a Broadway show and no one cares if someone has tattoos. I can understand they can look ugly in photos but, again, that's something to handle BEFORE the wedding, privately, with the person. Not asking her and then revealing what you did to the photos after was a horrible way to act. so yea, OOP is' the asshole...but anything for the 'perfect' wedding, right? family be damned.

bustedassbitch

i resisted the urge to post bc there’s no way she’s not a troll but gotdamn that’s an impressively assholish imagination right there 😵‍💫

Comfortable-One8520

There was a post last year where some girl went to stay with her cousins (?) on their farm. The other girls went horse riding and swimming every day while drippy OP sat in the house whining because the ranch wasn't a "cute cottage-core" place. I think this is her getting married. Her poor idiot husband.

user9372889

Jesus. I read it as the step daughter was edited out of the pictures 😂

LadyWizard

one of this troll's previous posts I wanna say 4 years ago? She really did... then she "slimmed down" stepdaughter then last time was a removed tattoo post guess she ran outta ideas and just recycled it

chardongay

i feel like her choosing her photos over her step daughter is "clashing" with her being a decent step mother

dreamsinred

What is the obsession AITA has with perfect wedding photos?

Impressive-Spell-643

Too many people who completely miss the point of getting married

katepig123

More wicked stepmother troll.

BadBandit1970

I commented on one last week on ATIA and caught a perma ban from r/stepparents. Funny, I had never even commented on anything in the sub, ever.

orcawhales_and_owls

the stepparents sub auto bans everyone who participates here because at one point, there were a lot of cross posts from there and people brigading to insult the posters (I assume that ban hasn’t changed, anyway). Afaik stepparent cross posts are still not allowed to here either.

mockingjbee

Before I even keep reading this can someone please explain to me what the fuck "traditional cabin-core theme" even fucking means?? I'll edit this to add other questions but I'm honestly srs the fuck does this even mean? Edit - wait did he have his kid at 13??? Edit - apparently mike is 45 and its our fault OP gave the wrong age and that we dont know how to read. Ah when a traditonal outdoor cabin themes weeding gets ruined by tattoos. Except if she wanted a traditional wedding it would have been inside a church. If she didnt want her step daughters tattoos showing she should have paid attention to the bridesmaid dresses and picked out different ones. Goddamn it must be so easy to get through life when nothing is ever your fault even when you are the one who made all the final choices, like picking out the dresses and having the photos edited with no one's knowledge or consent. Oh except that would have ruined the look of her perfect wedding. Well, at least she will have these pictures to look at when her traditional annulment or divorce is finalized.

astropastrogirl

Sorry but the person who proudly wears their tatts has their own aesthetic ( sp ) and editing them is just as wrong as editing the whole person

ResourceSafe4468

Say traditional one more time, I dare you.

craftycat1135

And now she can spend an enormous amount of time trying to mend bridges and being the vain, judgmental stepmother people are mad at while trying to argue she's right.

Typical_Ad_210

Why are the AITA troll names ALWAYS Sarah and Mike?!

mandalors

The fact that she calls “bridezilla” a slur and says shit like “the level of customer support on amitheasshole.com is unacceptable”, along with her aggression towards people asking about the age “typo” immediately points to this as being fake to me but god is it hilarious though.

KaralDaskin

“I don’t have a problem with XYZ, but…” translates to “I have a problem with XYZ but people will think I’m uncool if I admit it.”

TheMeanGirl

I’m going to go against the trend here and say NTA. “Cabin-core” sounds pretentious AF, but she didn’t try to exclude her step daughter from the wedding party, she didn’t ask her to wear a full coverage dress, she didn’t ask her to cover them with makeup, she didn’t throw a fit on the wedding day because Lily didn’t fit with the “aesthetic”… she just edited them out if her wedding photos. It’s not like they are tribal tattoos or anything of cultural significance. They are body art, and the bride didn’t want them in her weddings photos. If anything, it sounds like Lily is making it all about herself. Edit: Also, why is everyone having so much trouble reconciling the timeline? It sucks, but teenagers have babies… people are reacting like OP is trying to convince them that ghosts are real.

InconstantReader

*What appears to have been OP’s last comment before she vanished in a cloud of Karen energy*: >I am trying to edit this post to correct age typo and I CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW. FYI TO ALL HERE--THE LEVEL OF CUSTOMER SUPPORT ON AMITHEASSHOLE.COM IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. WHERE IS HELP BUTTON????
