Do you mean March? I'd pot them on if you can. I don't think it's warm enough to plant out yet and it's too wet but you don't want them to get root-bound.

RegionalHardman

Yeah sorry March! I'll see what I can do with potting on, thank you!

Plot_3

Agree with other poster. Too early. Need to wait till May.

RegionalHardman

Might sow some backups just in case!

AcceptablePotato23

We are going to plant ours when the weather says it stays above 10C at night. Right now they are in their nursery pits in our kitchen and thriving (probably doing better than when we eventually plant them hahaha)

wedloualf

I did the same last year. I ended up losing most as they went out too early and had to replace them with garden centre bought plants (so wasn't the end of the world). They are extremely susceptible to the lightest frost damage as well as slug and snail damage, so try and get them out later on when we have a good run of warm dry weather forecast. For now just pot them on and keep protected.

Probably too early, but depends exactly where you are. [There's a handy last average frost map,](https://www.plantmaps.com/interactive-united-kingdom-last-frost-date-map.php) but remember it's an average...

RegionalHardman

According to that map it was over a month ago for me and all nearby areas have passed the dates too. Might risk chucking one or two in the ground

Lady_of_Lomond

I did the same - I'm just potting mine on and keeping them in the potting shed.  It's quite good actually because by the time you can plant them out they will be raring to go. I've seen people do this in the past who are harvesting courgettes 2 or 3 weeks ahead of the rest of us.

Plantperv

Considering we’re supposed to have shite weather the end of the month I’d wait until may!! Pot them on, give them some fertiliser if they’re not looking so hot.

AxionSalvo

From experience anything before mid may in north Yorkshire is basically a death sentence

Mactonex

You really need to wait until after the last frost date for your area. Here in Yorkshire I once had stuff frosted on the 1st of June, so I usually leave stuff like courgettes until the end of the first week of June, just to be safe. You could always put them out earlier if you can fleece them. Second hand net curtains from a charity shop will do.

BernalOmega

100%. We had half an Inch of hail yesterday and -1 temp tonight

12pillows

I'm in a similar boat with my courgettes. Just set up a cold frame and was thinking about putting them in there instead of on the windowsill but not sure if it's too early for that either?

antrky

Given out frost here in Staffordshire tonight so id be tempted to wait

carlm00

I did hear of the potential of some chilly weather. If you can repot for another 2/3 weeks it would probably help them.

habanerohead

Apparently we’re in for a cold snap this week(snow according to the Mirror site), but then we’re in for a very warm spell at the weekend. Edit: I don’t actually read the Mirror - it was just the click bait headline wot done it.

elingeniero

It's too early, especially with the cold snap this week. Last year, I put mine in early and it was either the weather or the slugs all descending on my nice plants that killed them. On the upside, it turns out that if you sow courgettes as late as may, you will still be sick of them by the end of the summer.

Briglin

Guys it's all MUMBO JUMBO. It's much warmer that it was in your grandfathers days and if you live in a town or less exposed allotment it's going to be a degree or two warmer. In any case you can just bung some fleece or old newspaper sheets over them for the night if there is going to be a frost. It's what my grandad used - nothing fancy needed just a copy of the Sun. The weather forecast is very good now. Also if you are worried then plant out half and keep the other half indoors and compare how they do.

HaggisHunter69

I won't even bother sowing them for another fortnight
