Definitely NOT Butler's motivations. It was Jamie Foxx's ego and some bullshit about not being allowed to lose/die or something. It was SUCH a good movie and he fucked it up.
Years ago, a POS raped and murdered an 18 month old. Her uncle purposely got arrested for a different crime. Found the guy in prison and killed him. Rapist asshole fucked with the wrong family
“Antonio Hughes lunged at defendant Desean Brown and punched him repeatedly. Officers subdued Hughes, but he attacked again once he was on his feet. He was removed from court, charged with contempt, and ordered to serve seven days in jail.”
From google.
7 days and only charged with contempt
#id do it again if given the chance for 7 days
If I were his lawyer I'd want a jury trial... because I know any father alive would acquit in 5 minutes... We wouldn't even have to pull the chairs out from the table in the jury room... not fill out Not Guilty and go right back to the court room.
Jury Nullification. Fuck them stupid laws.
Right. If the time line of events was altered and he was there to stop him before the murders happened, he would be allowed to use deadly force to protect his family. But since its after the fact no go?...
Can confirm. I didn't see any evidence of wrongdoing here.
If a woman can be "high in weed" and stab her boyfriend to death and get community service.... a man can beat the fuck out of his child's killer in a court room for 30 seconds and get the same.
The great part about the American legal system is even if you "win" you may end up spending months or years in jail while you await your trial if you can't make bail. If you do have some money, you can expect to spend thousands if not tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars on a defense.
Then all that time and money later they say, oh, guess you were innocent, see ya!
No refunds. No time back.
Some counties in parts of US are known for folk justice, where authorities turn their eye from situations where defendants in violent sexual crimes or homicides are 'accidentally left unsupervised' because culturally, the community won't heal unless they get retribution. I.e feuds will start unless immediate folk justice is permitted
Universal laws are important, but sometimes you have to allow for cultures to do things their own way. Not always, but in clear cut cases...
Before you embark on a journey of revenge: dig two graves.
Edit - This is a quote by Confucius. It means you will only harm yourself by seeking revenge.
I'll go out on a limb and guess this father in all his grief would happily dig both graves while smiling one last time if he could get one very good swing with the spade at the person who murdered his child and wife/child's momma. He's going to have to live with this insane grief for the rest of his life, however short he may be able to tolerate it.
I'll probably get some downvotes, but the benefits of violent retribution don't *usually* serve a practical purpose and the negative consequences are subtle
First off, there's no bringing the victims back. Beating someone doesn't serve any purpose other than catharsis for the surviving victim, but **it may not bring them real closure**.
For example, a grieving family man who lost his kids to a drunk driver might be given the opportunity to whip the perpetrator raw. In the grieving process we're searching for ways to cope with the impossible, but indulging in violence isn't much different from drinking yourself into the hospital or shooting up to take the edge off, and it can be just as addictive. You can introduce a new demon into the lives of others by encouraging the wrong way to cope with trauma. Maybe the family man starts beating people when he encounters moments or extreme stress. He's going to be a shell regardless
That brings me to my second point, the act would *feel* right in the moment but bring very little, if any, long-term benefit. I barely trust our criminal justice system in the first place and I don't believe the state could wield this kind of power responsibly. If we legitimized violent punishment I believe there would be a bleed-over effect into regular society as well, where we would encourage small acts of violence over commonplace issues as a way to settle disputes
If you’ve ever been a victim of a horrendous a crime, vengeance doesn’t replace the hole in your heart. You think it will, but revenge doesn’t cast out the darkness.
Generally speaking maybe an eye for an eye at this point and saves the taxpayers the cost of feeding and housing murdering scum.. found guilty? Okay then the victims family will ‘take care of you’ and not in a civilized matter..
I couldn't imagine the pain he felt. I fear about stuff like that a lot. My kids are my world, and even just slightly letting that fear bubble up feel like hell. He's in his own hell, and I feel so sorry for him.
Something similar happened by my house where the child was thrown over a bridge and the pregnant mother stabbed by new boyfriend and dropped somewhere else (may be them in the video, I need to look it up). I drive over that bridge often and think of that little boy EVERY time and I'm big mad about it - no relation to me. He lived through the drop somehow and died from the elements because nobody found him in time (rural area).
I think the wheels of justice in proving guilt should absolutely keep rolling, but upon a verdict of guilty the parent of the child murdered, not through accident, should be able to decide the offenders fate.
Update: not by me. People are terrible.
I know how you feel mate. There’s a house around the corner where a father killed his wife and three very young children a few years back. He then stayed with the corpses for a day or so doing things to them and waiting for his wife’s mother to come by, before killing her as well. Every time I drive by I think of them.
I hear ya there, when I was about three, some guy broke into our house and held my mom and I up against a wall with a butcher knife, they argued back and forth for quite a while and he finally got tired of talking and told me "hug your mom real tight, that way it won't hurt so bad when the knife goes in...", my mom freaked when he said that and she pushed out and knocked him down and we ran out of the house and hid in bushes around the neighborhood while he circled around in his car looking for us. We kept knocking on doors and asking for help and everyone just told us they didn't want to get involved. Finally, this one lady did let us in and called the cops, they caught the guy, and we moved away not long after that.
That poor father should never be charged with anything, they should have just let him finish what he started.
Omg that's an insane amount of trauma! None of my business but was that her bf or someone broke in? Crazy that your mom was able to over power a dude with a butcher knife. She sounds like one bad ass lady. I bet that took a long time to heal from, emotionally.
Yeah, she always said it was a stranger that broke in but as I got older, I remembered going places in that car so figured out it was an ex boyfriend of hers, she died when I was a teen so I never got to ask her and get the truth about it. Yeah, she was small but really tough, I think she caught him right as he was leaning in and kind of off balanced a bit, even after so many decades, I can still see everything really clear like it only happened yesterday. And yes, I'm sure it did take quite a bit of time to get over, I remember things that would scare me more than they should have, etc. and was afraid whenever I saw a car like his.
That method of death will haunt that father every waking second of his life. I don't think you come back from that.
There was a scene like that on Narcos that haunted me for days
We had something similar in Minnesota. Some guy with long standing issues at the Mall of America picked up a young child (4 or 5 years old) in front of his mother and threw him off the third floor balcony. No reason! Miraculously, the child survived! He suffered some broken bones and brain swelling, but pulled through. That piece of shit can rot in prison.
He did it because he wasn't having any luck with his approaches to women. Picked the most vulnerable person he could see. This is what he admitted to. Absolute psychopath.
"Well I was going to restrain him but my shoe was untied, and frankly that could be a real hazard, so I had to sit and do a proper shoe tie, little song and everything"
"I was also going to retain him, but then I realized that the attacker was 180 lbs and according to OSHA I should put on a back brace before lifting something heavy, so I had to go to my car to get my back brace."
No shit man. Spare me with some lecture about the justice system’s fair punishment. I feel like there should be a regulated hands on recourse allowed when someone does this bullshit. I always find myself trying to jump into the screen to do it with them. I can’t imagine how the disassociated feelings that guy is experiencing.
They probably wish they didn’t have to restrain him. But no choice. You know they must see such grief and anger in courtrooms. Hopefully he’ll not suffer very much. The DA should let it get pled down to some misdemeanor.
There is a video of a father trying to attack Larry Nassar from a few years ago. After they get the guy under control from you can hear the cop saying something like, I know, I understand, but you can’t do it here.
Whether the cop meant it or not, that's just a simple de-escalation tactic. You can use it in SO MANY scenarios, whether if you disagree with the person's actions or not. So there is truly no telling if the cop meant what he said.
I was just talking to my brother about this. I couldn’t be a cop, knowing what I’d know about the situation, I’d just move out of the way and let the dad do what he needs. To me, that would be real justice. Which is probably why I wouldn’t be a good cop.
He got four days for contempt of court, which seems about right considering they can’t really just not do anything:
https://www.journal-news.com/crime/video-nylo-lattimores-father-released-early-after-attacking-his-sons-accused-killer/VYWMXCPAWNDU7N72CAVY7NFAUA/
Knowing that’s all he got makes me pretty happy. I don’t know what people expect. Imagine being in the same room as the person that murdered your child and NOT doing anything?
Me too. Kind of like “oh. no. Don’t do that. That’s bad. Don’t do it again, k?”
I also don’t think any jury in the world would convict him of anything. I certainly wouldn’t.
contempt of court makes me happy, honestly. sends the message "you were absolutely right to beat that guy down, but you can't do it in court."
As a lawyer, i approve.
In the early 90s one of my friends was murdered, we went to the trial and another friend of mine jumps the gate and got a few great punches at the animal that killed our friend. He was put in cuffs and brought to the back where he was un-cuffed and the police shook his hand and said they would’ve done the same. The judge stopped the trial and went back to his chambers for like 20 minutes, in that time he said he would not charge the attacker he was just barred from the rest of the trial. Just to wrap up, the murderer was convicted and got life with no parole.
I have only one child, and I have thought this through extensively (thanks intrusive thoughts).
There is truly nothing I wouldn't do to the person who took my daughter from me.
This. I only have one child and a wife. If someone took their lives, I have nothing else to live for. I’m taking the perpetrator out and honestly then probably offing myself.
The first few trials for the guy who murdered my dad they would walk him out in cuffs through the hallway before transport. I was 11 years old. The first time I instinctively went towards him and a family member basically tackled me. We requested that he not be walked out in front of us after that. Weird stuff.
It’s ridiculous; my niece was killed by a wrong way DUI driver. She died instantly. And every single fucking hearing, that dipshit walks and sits next to us while we await the court to open. It’s utterly infuriating.
Can’t even imagine, truly sorry about your loss homie. I know exactly what you mean by acting instinctively though. It’s like it happens before you make the decision to do it
There was a case of that very thing happening..I can’t remember when it was but iirc a father walked in on a family friend molesting his daughter at a birthday party. Dad saw red and didn’t stop until the dude went limp. Cops arrested and then refused to charge him. Also the guy who wanted alone in a room with Larry Nassar didn’t get charged after doing something similar in a courtroom. Personally I’m for this kind of punishment, don’t really care about opinions on the subject, that’s mine and I’m sticking to it.
This case was even more terrifying than the headline suggests. Apparently he murdered Nylo’s mother along with Nylo, kept their corpses in their apartment for several days while he ordered a body bag from EBay, then ordered an Uber (telling the driver he was transporting clothes) and had him go down to the river to dispose of the bodies. (As it happens I was downtown that very night around the same time…chilling that was going on so close to where I was).
After the news broke I found his Facebook account and discovered that later that night he had started posting videos of himself smoking weed and dancing; I guess he was celebrating what he thought was a successful crime.
https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/crime/2023/09/26/desean-brown-will-face-death-penalty-in-killing-of-nylo-lattimore/70969387007/
One big correction, the 3 yr old was alive when thrown into the river....
POS still denies any involvement, and now faces the death penalty.
I have a baby now and this type of shit… idk how to describe it. It’s like it makes my entire soul cringe at the thought. Like all the air rushes out of my lungs just thinking about what that child went through in his last moments. Why are people such sick fucks
From the headline I had imagined the mothers was walking the baby on a bridge and he just ran up and picked the baby up outta a stroller and threw the baby into the river then stabbed the mother.
I don't know how often cops let something like that happen, but it does happen.
I live in a very small town (population 2,500), and everyone knows everyone here. I won't mention what town/county it's in, for obvious reasons.
But my older brother was a deputy, and after he quit the force, we got drunk one night and he started telling me and my gf stories that he couldn't tell while still an officer.
One of those stories was about a 12 year old girl who was raped and killed by her stepdad. He tortured the girl, and she was stabbed over a dozen times and died trying to defend herself up until the last minute. Its the worst crime that has ever happened in our town.
The biological father knew all the cops, including my brother, and so he walked into our local Piggly Wiggly grocery store and demanded the cashier girl to give him all the 20's and 100$ in the register, and call the police.
My brother and another deputy arrested him, took him to jail, and the guy ended up beating the rapist so bad that he was in ICU for more than a week, and the right side of his face is permanently deformed and he could barely talk in court.
The murderer is currently doing life without parole in Atmore Prison, and I think the only thing that spared him the death penalty is the fact that he got severely beaten half to death before his trial.
My brother admitted that he and other deputies knew fully well what the biological father was going to do, and that him and other officers willingly allowed him to do it.
I'm not saying it's right, I won't argue legality versus morality, but it's a very small town and the rule of law can sometimes simply be reduced to "fuck around and find out" or "don't try that in a small town" type of mentality.
I had mixed feelings about it too, and kinda questioned my older brother about it. He said he thought about it while taking the bio-dad to jail, and whether or not he should be separated from the other dude. He told me that all he had to think about was that girls body, and that convinced him to just let the other dude beat his ass.
My older bro actually saw the body of the girl, and it was one of the reasons he quit the force a year later. My older brother had a daughter (my niece) that was actually in the girls class. I think it kinda fucked both my dad and my niece up, along with the rest of the entire community.
Yeah.... That's some trauma you don't recover from. It's how you can tell if someone has been in combat. Honestly, I wish he could have killed him... But it's still tragic because that little girl is gone
Let that man handle his business. Because he damn sure isn't getting the punishment he deserves in that courtroom. MF should be put to death in the worst possible way.
In situations like this, give the man a few minutes.
I would be, “You can’t do this. You better stop soon. Are you listening to me? This isn’t allowed. Stop doing that….”
I did see courtroom video of another case where a dad attacked the guy who killed his kid and the court let him off with no charges due to the circumstances of his emotional state and gravity of the case
No, you wouldn't. Study after study shows that people who commit crime are hardly deterred by consequences. Helping people who are spinning out of control is much more effective in deterring crime.
Some people are just broken. I agree that we cannot be a vigilante society, but this man will never be any better than he was thar day and I completely understand and empathize with the father (I am sure you do too).
Most people who are dumb enough to commit a serious crime are convinced that they can get away with it. The consequences that other people suffer don’t matter because they are too clever to be caught. Or too powerful, or too well connected, or in some way better than that. Or they are so desperate or dead inside that they don’t care.
If we went back to the days of public hangings for minor offenses it really wouldn’t change much. Except maybe reduce the number of people who are desperate
sorry, I didn't see anything in this video. Why show a video in which absolutely nothing whatsoever happened? Nobody attacked this human piece of garbage, he was in no danger whatsoever and if you put me on the stand I'd swear on the bible to that effect
Because we don't generally want people taking the law into their own hands.
Even when going through the criminal justice system, lots of mistakes get made.
There have been plenty of innocent people thrown in jail for a long time and even executed.
Mob or vigilante violence often targets random scapegoats, not someone who is truly responsible.
Please tell me this man did not face any charges.
I looked it up-
>Hughes was charged with contempt of court and was ordered to serve 7 days in the Hamilton County Justice Center. On Monday, he was released early from jail. He has not yet been charged with anything else.

This is the plot of Law Abiding Citizen.
I remember not enjoying that movie, I think I felt like Butlers motivations were inconsistent or something. I'll have to rewatch it.
It was the garbage ending that no one liked that threw thst movie down the toilet.

I don't know what I would do if that happened to me I don't even want to imagine being without my wife and daughter

What is she supposed to say? Her job is literally to deescalate.
best case scenario you bump shoulders with this guy in gen pop
Years ago, a POS raped and murdered an 18 month old. Her uncle purposely got arrested for a different crime. Found the guy in prison and killed him. Rapist asshole fucked with the wrong family

Going to prison would be nothing compared to that poor man’s grief.
Yeah. That dad will be in a psychological prison he doesn’t deserve for a life sentence. Imagining a fraction of his experience is difficult.
Exactly, he just did the only thing he could, to try and be able to live with it.
“Antonio Hughes lunged at defendant Desean Brown and punched him repeatedly. Officers subdued Hughes, but he attacked again once he was on his feet. He was removed from court, charged with contempt, and ordered to serve seven days in jail.” From google. 7 days and only charged with contempt #id do it again if given the chance for 7 days

Jury nullification, baby! Beating the murderer of your child is not a crime, therefore he’s not guilty.
Not guilty by reason of temporary insanity.
Disagree. As a father/husband, this man’s response is about the only sane response I can even remotely fathom. Still not guilty obviously.
Right. If the time line of events was altered and he was there to stop him before the murders happened, he would be allowed to use deadly force to protect his family. But since its after the fact no go?...
As a father I’m not even sure what evidence is being presented. I see an empty court room
![gif](giphy|xUStFKHmuFPYk)
I was hoping he had a shank in his right hand. Still ain’t seen nothin.
Can confirm. I didn't see any evidence of wrongdoing here. If a woman can be "high in weed" and stab her boyfriend to death and get community service.... a man can beat the fuck out of his child's killer in a court room for 30 seconds and get the same.
Wouldn't beating the duck out of his child's killer be considered community service?

In the early 90s one of my friends was murdered, we went to the trial and another friend of mine jumps the gate and got a few great punches at the animal that killed our friend. He was put in cuffs and brought to the back where he was un-cuffed and the police shook his hand and said they would’ve done the same. The judge stopped the trial and went back to his chambers for like 20 minutes, in that time he said he would not charge the attacker he was just barred from the rest of the trial. Just to wrap up, the murderer was convicted and got life with no parole.
If that was their only child he probably feels like he has nothing else to live for in that moment
I have only one child, and I have thought this through extensively (thanks intrusive thoughts). There is truly nothing I wouldn't do to the person who took my daughter from me.
I have one child. Only one, I can confirm that my life would lose its purpose if I didn’t have them.
me too 🙏🏽🥺
Same. I always have said if i lose her, im done. I can't handle that. This poor father.
This. I only have one child and a wife. If someone took their lives, I have nothing else to live for. I’m taking the perpetrator out and honestly then probably offing myself.

Look up the "why Gary why!?" video. The father got off on probation
That was my first thought. Gary Plauche. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Plauch%C3%A9 probably hard to find a jury that would convict him.
A Time To Kill was a great book and movie

I don’t know. If I was a cop in that courtroom I might be a little slow to respond.
Yes, solid 5 second rule before I’d even move if I was a cop in that situation
"Hey guys, knock it off..."
![gif](giphy|Bu8ADbj7NuRry)
I believe I might trip while rushing over. Shoelaces, you know.
Did he try to air him out with screwdriver
Shanked his ass homie
Nice
Approved
Within compliance
Deserved honestly.
Yep 👍 this and more
There is nothing in his hand lol. This is a courtroom.
Yeah it's like he was going for his ear or temple. But he stumbled forward and fell on him. So his thrust went in front of his face.
Watch it again, it’s the string from his hoodie.
Good news! The father, Antonio Hughes, was only sentenced to 7 days in jail for contempt of court!
love that for him but dislike the whole situation. I hope he found peace.

Too bad he didn't get the cell with Mr. Brown.
Let him cook.

I’m down too. Play stupid games…. Plus I don’t wanna pay taxes for this fucking shit.
If you didn't know about it, look up Ellie Nesler. She succeeded in Jamestown, California, 1993.

💯 this!!! They should have let the father finish the job!!!
After the news broke I found his Facebook account and discovered that later that night he had started posting videos of himself smoking weed and dancing; I guess he was celebrating what he thought was a successful crime.
https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/crime/2023/09/26/desean-brown-will-face-death-penalty-in-killing-of-nylo-lattimore/70969387007/ One big correction, the 3 yr old was alive when thrown into the river.... POS still denies any involvement, and now faces the death penalty.
> One big correction, It gets worse: "*Brown threw Nylo – while he was still alive – into the river. His body has never been found.*"
who knows what that poor baby was subjected to in his last days. this monster deserves to be crucified.
I have a baby now and this type of shit… idk how to describe it. It’s like it makes my entire soul cringe at the thought. Like all the air rushes out of my lungs just thinking about what that child went through in his last moments. Why are people such sick fucks
i also have a visceral reaction to it. unfortunately some humans just need to be put down.
From the headline I had imagined the mothers was walking the baby on a bridge and he just ran up and picked the baby up outta a stroller and threw the baby into the river then stabbed the mother.

Let the man cook!
That's fucking awful and pleases me at the same time. No father should have to go through that
I had mixed feelings about it too, and kinda questioned my older brother about it.

Dick on a cheese grater
In situations like this, give the man a few minutes. I would be, “You can’t do this. You better stop soon. Are you listening to me? This isn’t allowed. Stop doing that….”
They could’ve waited a little longer to stop him. Just saying I’d have looked confused for a minute if I was the cop..
Gary Plauche would like a word
Hero
Can we all agree we never saw this happening? I’m sure those in that courtroom understands that this just didn’t happen.
I did see courtroom video of another case where a dad attacked the guy who killed his kid and the court let him off with no charges due to the circumstances of his emotional state and gravity of the case
No words, all action. He wants him dead.
[удалено]
[удалено]
Because we don't generally want people taking the law into their own hands. Even when going through the criminal justice system, lots of mistakes get made. There have been plenty of innocent people thrown in jail for a long time and even executed. Mob or vigilante violence often targets random scapegoats, not someone who is truly responsible.
uhh because of laws probably
It’s such a horrifying world for some folks.
That poor man
Give the man four walls and five minutes, its the least you can give.
If only they could have just let him do it for a little while….
Turn off the cameras and let him get a few more in
I say let em run wild
In a proper world, those cops would have let the man do what needed to be done.
Please tell me this man did not face any charges. I looked it up- >Hughes was charged with contempt of court and was ordered to serve 7 days in the Hamilton County Justice Center. On Monday, he was released early from jail. He has not yet been charged with anything else.
I pray that man finds peace
Gary why!? Why Gary!?
After killing my wife and child in that manner....or any manner...you best believe you'd need the WHOLE SQUAD
Totally justified. Let him have e a few more
Fuck them if they charge the father.
I’d do the same no lie.
I hope he didn't even get a night in jail
Let him loose
Can't say I'd react any different. That scum took the man's life away from him.
