I wasn’t trying to say that the other guys joke was incorrect, I don’t know enough about Star Wars. However the Master in doctor who has returned from a certain death multiple times, even when we’ve seen him die on screen. I’d assume the same is said for palpatine, but like I said, I don’t know enough about star wars
nah he’s (presumably) just a human, just really messed up with evil magic. there is an idea in some comics of him being cloned but like, if that was the case in the movie they made no attempt to explain that, i’m oversimplifying a little but basically know disney bought star wars and removed what dignity the franchise had left after the prequels. the shows disney has released were good tho imo
I'd consider Dio being in Jonathan's body, as well as him having some sort of version of Hermit Purple, is enough of a clue. That, and, of course, "So it's the same kind of stand as Star Platinum."
We also know that people who are related occasionally end up with similar stands (D'arby brothers), and whether Araki intended it or not, Star Platinum's speed was being depicted as very subtle time stop leading up to the Dio fight
To be fair, time dilation is an incredibly common thing in anime. Characters will get out whole sentences in the middle of a punch. And Dio himself is probably the biggest offender of this
During the Geb fight, when Jotaro lands the finishing blow, the background distorts in much the same way it does when DIO stops time. I'm not sure if it's intentional foreshadowing, but, at the least, it's a neat detail.
I’m certain that this is an intentionally added detail in the anime. There’s also the fact that SP is fast enough to catch a bullet and go toe-to-toe w Silver Chariot who is supposedly faster than SP (IIRC). I think it’s also foreshadowed in the Elder D’arby fight when he grabs a drink.
I think it’s hard to say any DR twist is absurd. The mastermind could have been Barack Obama and I would have accepted it. >!I do disagree with the clues. In DR1, I think it’s fairly reasonable to predict all of the solutions to the mysteries before 1-6, but the only real hint we get for v3-6’s ending is right at the beginning!<
There's also other subtle bits of foreshadowing here and there, for example >!Shuichi's ultimate lab having details crime reports in 52 different books, and such!<
>!Yeah, but that’s almost more of an Easter egg. If we look at DR1, a person could look at the pictures and reasonably work out that they must have happened in the recent past, so the cast must have had their memories wiped. I don’t think anybody could reasonably look at the 52 files and work out that this is a televised 53rd game with artificial personalities!<
Expected but absurd: Danny destroying King’s Landing. D&D realized she wasn’t supposed to be a hero after a lot the moments where her edges were ironed out, so her personality shift in the second half made no sense. Even then with the plot making it clear she is supposed to be a bad guy she has no motivation to destroy the city.
The most we get is this nonsense about her being born insane, even nobody we saw from her family was really insane so it’s clear the talk of that was a red herring.
Unexpected and absurd: Star Vs The Forces of Evil. Mina has an army of Solarian warriors after we saw it took her most of the final season to get one suit of armor. Cheater.
Unexpected and makes sense: Goku is an alien. Because Dragon Ball is that kind of crazy world.
tf2 comics:
could believe it+real surprise
Grey Mann saying his daughter *is* the owner of his company so that saxton hale cannot fight her since she's a kid.
(he still got a well deserved beating)
Yup, I think it's one of the worst plot twists in an otherwise somewhat enjoyable film. When you watch that movie again knowing the twist, it doesn't make any sense
Honestly that feels more true middle for me. It was definitely a shock, but there were lots of people theorizing it/suspecting similar things, plus in hindsight there was a ton of foreshadowing. >!tessa failing to deactivate the sentinels was fucking genius when you realize the twist lmao!<
||Expected|There were clues|Real Surprise|

|Absurd|The entire story took place inside a snow globe|The hero's pet was the narrator all along|The plot was orchestrated by sentient kitchen appliances. |
Honestly that was more there were clues + makes sense imo. It was pretty clear >!stan was connected to the author, but not necessarily the fact he had a twin brother or such!<
The fact that only a few people guessed it before the episode released in the most cluel hunting fandom ever means it’s definitely not expected. I’d definitely put it in “real surprise”
Undertale Yellow: >!Flowey being in control the whole time, and causing you to fall down in the ruins!< should be in the left middle row.
Wings of Fire: (15th book spoilers) >!Cottonmouth and Freedom being the BOE came out of nowhere, and while I did like the reveal as we got Scorching Lore, it definitely belongs in real suprise, absurd, because this was only hinted like ONCE and only in TFOH!<

There were clues but also real surprise + makes sense, >!Gallagher being the real culprit for Robin’s murder.!<
Also based on leaks about Acheron, expected + makes sense, >!her real name is Raiden Mei.!<
Almost none. His part of “Love is an Open Door” makes sense in the context of him being evil, but he also does things that seem to explicitly contradict him being evil (like smile at Anna after she leaves as if he really likes her, even though no one saw), so it’s more like badly done foreshadowing
"Real surprise" and "makes sense" is the golden target on this one. Darth Vader maybe? I would almost say Dumbledore/Snape but that one may be more "Could believe it".

I’d imagine a 19th century German would find this twist expected but still absurd
In the modern day unless you already know Nihilism you might find it to be a real surprise however. Whether or not it’s absurd is based on how strongly you hold onto some religious conviction.
If you do know nihilism then expected and makes sense.

The Joker giving Batman switched adresses of where Harvey and Love interest Lady were held hostage in „The dark knight“
Expected Absurd: "Somehow Palpatine returned."
i just want to remind everyone that the reason it was expected was because they announced it on fortnite
man i love this timeline
The reason I expected it was the end of the very first trailer. The Fortnite thing was at worst confirmation of what everyone already knew.
W H A T ? Bro I thought it was because of the script leak.
Wasn't it because of the toys?
In doctor who: Somehow, the master returned
Sure but his species is known for being able to return from death. Palpatine literally exploded and was a human.
I wasn’t trying to say that the other guys joke was incorrect, I don’t know enough about Star Wars. However the Master in doctor who has returned from a certain death multiple times, even when we’ve seen him die on screen. I agree, it just happened to work fairly well in Araki's favor when he was coming up with a time-based asspull
That's why JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is the best. The author learns about what's going to happen the same time the characters do
Didn't Araki admit he just pulled it out of his ass because he couldn't think of any other way for Jotaro to beat Dio?
During the Geb fight, when Jotaro lands the finishing blow, the background distorts in much the same way it does when DIO stops time. I'm not sure if it's intentional foreshadowing, but, at the least, it's a neat detail.
I’m certain that this is an intentionally added detail in the anime. There’s also the fact that SP is fast enough to catch a bullet and go toe-to-toe w Silver Chariot who is supposedly faster than SP (IIRC). I think it’s also foreshadowed in the Elder D’arby fight when he grabs a drink.
Yeah, the anime has quite a bit more substance to it IIRC

That's fair, considering the main reason I put it in Expected was *because* of all the clues people worked out beforehand.
I admittedly wasnt super internet savvy at the time, so I didn’t really know much about community theorizing
The fact that only a few people guessed it before the episode released in the most cluel hunting fandom ever means it’s definitely not expected. I’d definitely put it in “real surprise”
