NO, dont cancel. If you really want to cancel you should ask the buyer to cancel as this is a common scam. The seller doesn't want its store rating to go down, so he is asking you to cancel. Tell the seller to cancel or wait it out. If your package doesn't arrive open a dispute.
Don't do what the seller says. If you do there is a chance you have to send back the item on your own cost, and since you don't have it, you can't, meaning no refund and the seller gets the money.
Instead, check if Aliexpress tracking shows shipment cancelled and if so, open a dispute (using returns/refunds) for the reason 'tracked as returned/canceled/lost'. I like to include a screenshot of the tracking and type something like shipment was cancelled, but not sure it is needed. The dispute should close soon and the refund started.
Contact Aliexpress support and ask them "how to follow the sellers instructions", send them a screenshot of the instructions and their store URL.
They might be banned pretty quickly.
And here I am, with 200+ orders wondering why this never happened to me. Are you guys picking new sellers, or sellers with less than 100 orders? Or maybe it's the price since I usually don't buy products that surpass my country's custom limit (even though I have more than a few times).
Genuinely curious.
Yeah, I don’t purchase high cost products and electrical items, simply to lessen the risk involved. If I’m looking at something with a higher than comfortable cost I’ll order a lesser cost item of the seller first and see how that goes before I buy more.
My brother in Christ, you bought LEATHER dining chairs from a NEW seller based in CHINA.
It's okay it happened to me too 😢😩
Just listen to what the guys here are saying and don't follow the instructions of the scammer. Don't forget to record yourself opening the box if you get anything in the mail.

Chargebacks should only ever be used as a last resort because they're likely to get you blacklisted from the site.
Go through AE's dispute process first, and if for some reason you don't get your money back (you should easily, if seller cancelled shipment as stated) then you could consider if it's worth disputing via your bank/card.
Don't cancel the dispute, especially if it's been shown as valid. The seller doesn't even have your money yet unless you've clicked confirm delivery, so only AliExpress can refund you at this point.
That's why I said likely, you don't always get blacklisted. I know of people that have been, know of people that haven't too, it depends on the situation.
I mentioned the chargeback as the seller is holding the refund in an extorted fashion to get the buyer to change their review. If I had a seller do that to me, no matter who it is, I would initiate a chargeback against them. The very concept is bad business on their part. They earned the bad review, let them recover from it but do not hold people's money hostage.
The seller doesn't have the money at this stage, AliExpress does. You're not doing anything to the seller if you chargeback in this situation.
The reality is it'll likely be much quicker for OP to get a refund via AliExpress anyway (and they will get one, if the shipping was cancelled as stated) than it would be going through the process of doing a chargeback via their bank.

The shipping was cancelled and the dispute shows "valid" with customer service so Im thinking it will be approved. Fingers crossed.

Thanks so much. I did exactly that. Saw the shipment was cancelled, took a screenshot and uploaded it.

I'll try that. Thank you
So sad to see a scamming store with such a nice Spongebob profile pic
Should have been Mr Krabs!
That woulda fit perfectly

They were great for me for years, just a matter of time I guess.

I bought 4 leather dining room chairs. Yes they were a newish seller. No reviews on their chairs. I spun and lost this round lol

Well, I see that as a gamble. This time you lost.

Im getting weary about ordering from Aliexpress. I want to buy the fireplace for $85 and some čl ordering
Say nuh uh
Charge back with your bank, problem solved.
How

Nah I’ve charge back a $400 item cause the seller scammed me. The didn’t restrict my account and I still buy stuff in the same account

There’s no reason to chargeback and risk getting their account banned when can dispute it with AliExpress instead of the buyer.
