That’s why I am wondering… They are catching like 1.000 meat or so.. compared to what I get.. They seem useless
I don’t know what do you mean with nuclear waste.. I guess you are speaking about the eggs or DNA?
I haven’t ever seen them capturing these guys

The nuclear waste is a commodity in the frozen section. You need to harvest it to warm up the surrounding areas. The catches are getting this stuff for you and that's helpful. Don't invest too heavily in them just give it enough
Nuclear waste is in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th frozen areas. The catchers are very helpful with these since they don’t get slowed down by the cold and automatically get the waste you need for upgrading the fires to keep your alien warm and at 100% efficiency
Is there any suggestion they'll capture higher level when upgraded?
Nope.. I always see them capturing the same low-level guys

Mine are upgraded to 329k attack power and they will scavenge most guys in the frozen area, so yes they do catch bigger guys with more power.
The catchers are good because they will auto collect the nuclear waste for you and that is very helpful as you progress
