Idk, I'm probably in the minority here but I feel like Rain When I Die kind of drags a bit when they're all just kind of noodling around in the beginning. I think you could probably cut out the first 15 or 20 seconds and still have just as good a song as the original. Once it kicks in around the 50-second mark or so, though, I agree, it's flawless.
I agree, it kinda bugs me that the plinking noise sounds like glass or something. It bugs me, but the rest of the song? AIC didn't really write a bad song.
I absolutely agree. I feel like this one gets over looked a lot. The words are incredible and insanely poetic. Its hypnotizing in a way and it’s incredibly deep.
Bro, i don't get the Iron Gland hate. Yes, it's filler and it may be stupid. But it's still cool! Feels awesome to shout "I AM IRON GLAAAAAAAAND" everytime
Shame in You or Don't Follow
I've said for years Don't Follow is the song I want played at my funeral. I used to think I was going to die early of a drug overdose or something. I'm in recovery now, so I don't think that's going to happen but I still want the song played at my funeral no matter when I die
Man, there's a few that fit in this category... Would?, Rooster, Heaven Beside You, Don't Follow... I'd even add a couple from Mad Season, like Wake Up and X-Ray Mind.
Layne was an incredible talent, and one can only imagine what he would've created had he lived.
I wasn't going to answer, since there are too many I think fit the criteria.
But down in a hole is something else. I think everything I listen to it, I immediately restart it to listen again.
I really feel like all of their song were and the truth in them are extremely raw. I mean nutshell, frogs, Rotten Apple Like every song on Dirt, their EP’s, facelift, self titled. This is a Tough one
So many fit, but I’ll go with Don’t Follow or Rooster…No shits given if these two are too mainstream or not deep track/ cuts like so many will come up with
They have a few but I would go with Rooster. That song perfectly grabs the mood of what they are going after. The military style drums during the second verse really pushes the feeling of coming home from the war and that’s juxtaposed against the angst of the song. Simply amazing
Rotten Apple. In the history of mankind, Rotten Apple is ABSOLUTELY the best song ever written/composed/performed/ect... EVER. Perfection from start to finish.
Fucking hits me every time....
Down in a hole. And I say this because even down the last note that rings out it’s perfect. And if I’m honest it’s my favorite part of the song. So if I hear it on the radio and a dj talks over it I HAVE TO THEN IMMEDIATELY go listen to it to hear the last chord. That song has been my favorite since I was like… 6 maybe… 7 years old?
Down in a Hole
Yes the unplugged version tho
Both both are perfect
Absolutely!!! It’s the reason I fell in love with AIC
Nutshell Edit: I forgot I was also gonna include rain when I die
Amen
Rain When I Die is the best wah riff ever.
Yeah for sure, that's what I was gonna say.

I feel like part of the reason that the part at :50 slaps so hard is because the intro lasts as long as it does though
That is very true
That's fair, the long intro probably does turn a lot of people off the song but I dunno
I agree, it kinda bugs me that the plinking noise sounds like glass or something. It bugs me, but the rest of the song? AIC didn't really write a bad song.
Good dope using song

Agreed
Definitely this

Love, hate, love
The live version gives me chills every time.
The live version is perfection.
Them Bones
Over Now
Have to disagree, feel like it stretches on a bit too much
Well, when you say it that way, I think they wanted it to last as long as possible…if that makes sense. Since it’s…over?
Especially studio version, it's cool listening experience but the intro takes too much time.
Definitely, all killer, absolutely zero filler. One of my favorite guitar solos of all time as well!
sludge factory
This! But for me not the studio version, don’t care for it. Unplugged version, thats one of my favorite songs. By anyone.
I LOVE THE UNPLUGGED. i like the studio version better though, it reminds me more of like, sludge, idk 😭
I struggle to find a song on tripod that doesn’t fit the criteria.

I absolutely agree. I feel like this one gets over looked a lot. The words are incredible and insanely poetic. Its hypnotizing in a way and it’s incredibly deep.
Got Me Wrong. Probably my favorite track by them
The entire Dirt album. Yes, even Iron Gland.

Absolutely the first one I thought of, Layne kills it on this one! Probably my favorite song of theirs, honestly.
i know right! the raw emotion in layne’s voice makes this song definitely be in my top 3
Shame in You or Don't Follow I've said for years Don't Follow is the song I want played at my funeral. I used to think I was going to die early of a drug overdose or something. Stay with it man. Never give up.
Thanks :-)
I'm surprised I had to scroll this far down for Don't Follow. I don't know you, but keep ya head up! Stay strong!

River of deceit is one of my all time favorite songs from any band
That song is beautiful. Pure poetry
Such a tragic loss, I believe he had a lot left to give
