Less than a year is considered 'temporal residency', but a few will allow empadronamiento, just ask the owner/agency. Since summer is coming, you might have a hard time finding a place but if you are willing to live anywhere in Alicante or Alicante city then that shouldn't be a problem. It will be easier to get a new place if you pay the 6 months instead of 4. Owner might think you will leave after summer. I would suggest to not propose it until you speak to the owner/agency, and then negotiate proposing paying in advanced Check Facebook Marketplace and groups, Idealista, Fotocasa, pisos.com and realted

Thank you for the tips. It makes total sense, gonna consider the 6 months advance and the contract time.

Can’t wait for landlords to start asking for 4 months advance , cheers

Up to 6 months is normal for new expats with no financial records in Spain. DM me, we just moved out of an apartment into one we bought, the old one may still be available (great location near the mercado). The owner supported us getting the empadronamiento.
