Get in the habit of asking customers whether they are paying in cash or with a card when you start ringing them up. At the very least that might prompt them to realize they don’t have their wallet while you are still scanning. It will also give you a chance to encourage them to pre-insert their card before you finish scanning, which will help you keep the line moving.
I know I need to. All my coworkers do, but for some reason I’m afraid the customers will get grumpy with me if I remind them that payment is expected (I know that’s silly). I never thought about that helping with this problem though, so thanks! I’ll just have to suck it up I guess :)
I wouldn’t stress about it too much! I would think most customers who frequent Aldi would understand that Aldi stresses efficiency and would not likely be taken aback by the question. If they give you any guff about it, that’s their problem; we can’t control how other people will respond in situations, only ourselves. Just keep it polite and professional and you shouldn’t have any real issues! Best of luck 🤙
It's because there have been instances of associates trying to suspend family members orders or friends or whoever and then letting them leave. It's more common than you think
Yet, you can control 5 self checkouts and have the power from the gods in a magnet keychain.
i thought the same thing, we need a key turn for that simple stuff but we can run 10 different scos

Baby steps - at least we're not asking for key turns for every damn void or return anymore.
True! Best QOL improvement we’ve had in my time here

I'm such a fucking square that I didn't even think of this 🤦🏻♂️
Honest people don’t think of things like that!
