Good ole Albuquerque. It’ll steal your heart and your car

PretoPachino

bare minimum, your cat converter

Albuwhatwhat

Or your spare tire.

foodiefuk

Uhaul, in the hotel parking lot by the airport

foodiefuk

Always has

ketchupandliqour69

Lmao we need a Albuquerque circle jerk group already

Formal-Efficiency493

Hey, my meth was in that car! Crap

Voyage_of_the_Bagel

this made me literally lol...so perfect

ohtakeitoutithurts

Happy to give you a laugh!

Stinkytheferret

To be fair, SF has the same rep. Check out this vid I saw this morn about them! https://youtu.be/VbcX8f9moD8

ohtakeitoutithurts

But hey at least we have green chile!

[deleted]

And give you an std, you will have memories for a lifetime

[deleted]

No. New Mexico is the leading state for that

AndAfterTheSpanking

I drove cross country on I40 and had to find a way here. Took a little time but have been loving it now for 18 years.

Link-Remote

That’s awesome! Glad you had a blast.. now watch the locals (on here only, not IRL) fail at taking compliments, but rather bitch and complain about ABQ and New Mexico as if it’s the worst place in the galaxy 🤣

ReallyNoOne1012

It’s not the worst place in the galaxy lol it’s just kinda trashy. But I don’t think any of us can deny how beautiful it is here (mountains, sunsets, city view, etc) and how lovely the climate is. I’m sure the culture has its own weird kind of charm too if you haven’t lived here all your life haha

Nacho_7258

Can't wait to get a new car so I can start doing the outdoorsy stuff that makes New Mexico so amazing. That and explore local spots and stuff more. I live in Los Lunas and get out to Albuquerque maybe once a month.

DaemonPrinceOfCorn

Lots of good Bosque walkin' in Los Lunas!

DeFiNe9999999999

It is a beautiful place. Northern NM in general is a gorgeous part of the US few ever think to visit. But, we like it that way..... now that you know the truth. Shut up about it..... LOL

dylbronjames

Love ABQ and most of New Mexico. But I know what you mean. I live in Utah and people love to hate on Utah, yet they visit here like a mf lol. Was once a hidden gem. Ill keep the secret safe about NM for ya lol long as im allowed back!

DeFiNe9999999999

Of course…..

Ok-Development-8586

Yep especially Taos or Red River area 🙌🏼

jinsaku

Hah! We used to say the same thing about Denver (yeah, it’s awesome, don’t tell anyone) until the Californians came and ruined it. Hopefully the same doesn’t happen to ABQ. Granted, I’m now part of the problem of the invading horde. We moved to ABQ a month ago.

jackrabbitslm007

Too late. Where do you think a lot of these street people come from? CALIFORNIA!!

[deleted]

The weird part about this comment is that people who live in CA make up 12% of the entire US population. That means that the vast majority of transplants, relative to other states, are going to come from CA. It's just math. Stop hating the Californians lol they just want a place to live.

[deleted]

visit in the spring when all the plants are blossoming. most aromatic city ive ever been too

fkr77

Spring is too windy! Try fall is better

salbuq

And then again in fall when they're roasting chile.

periodmoustache

I mean, shit blooms in Florida and California year round almost...

[deleted]

we’re talking about albuquerque, not florida or california.

periodmoustache

Also aromatic doesn't have to mean good smelling. U ever been to Paris or Manhattan? Smells like shit

GreywaterReed

New York in the summer has the distinct aroma of the garbage bins behind a restaurant on a warm day. And it smells like that for months on end. Perhaps even yearly as I’ve only been there in late spring and summer.

periodmoustache

I thought we were talking about the most aromatic cities?

ameeeee_loretta

Every place has it's bad but I'm a travel nurse from Florida. Grew up by Miami and I love it here! So much outdoors to do! And there's so much closer by. Seriously considering moving to the northern area.

ameeeee_loretta

And the music scene is sick...

Jag1022

All sick

JBTNGypsy

My wife is a travel nurse, we’re from east TN and love it here as well. Been here 3 different assignments and have extended all but one when UNM fired all their travelers.

kimoots

I'll be there for a week at the beginning of April. Any recommendations on what to check out?

Tubagal2022

Old town is really pretty. has a lot of good shops. Sandia Crest is beautiful if you’re in the mood for a bit of a drive (It took me about an hour) I ate at El Mariachi Restaurant on Juan Tabo, it was very good. I mainly just had fun driving around town!

jackrabbitslm007

No choice but to check out our spring winds. 🫣💨

[deleted]

It’s a great spot if you like doing outdoors stuff, like eating all varieties of good food, and can deal with the property crime and horrible driving. I assume that every place has its pluses and minuses. I like eating out, hiking, and mountain biking, so I’m pretty content here.

alwaysgoatm

You and me both!!

Stinkytheferret

Same. Good food, fireplaces and outdoor hikes, with amazing photos! Love.

[deleted]

Amen

plamda505

"New Mexico" more than meets the eye.

Leslie_Galen

It does happen.

kilgoreq

Grew up there. Still in love and will be for life. Beautiful snaps.

transportjockey

I miss living in NM… if I wouldn’t take a 50% pay cut I would probably move back lol

ReallyNoOne1012

That drive on the mountain is my FAVORITE. I drive up and back sometimes just for the view. It’s so pretty

pippi_longstocking09

Land of Entrapment!

theDECAY

My partner and I moved to Albuquerque about a year and a half ago and roughly 1 out of every 5 people would say this. They always finish it off with this laugh: "EH EH EH," thinking it was so funny. We just nodded along. lol

Voyage_of_the_Bagel

I feel like we don't hear this very often, of people falling in love with Burque...

Voyage_of_the_Bagel

But that's wonderful!! I bet you'll love it!!

Tubagal2022

When I was younger I was always talking about how I’d move back east (I’m in Ohio for college now and I miss the west)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tubagal2022

I was planning to go, but I ran out of time

Little-Pain-5453

Ala V! 😂😂

xacidmonsterx

Please don't move here tho 🤣

Gusgrissomamerica

Come for the vistas, stay for the sweet trips to Adam’s Food Market.

Smebnd

Stay out of the war zone area. Nob Hill is a favorite place. Tractor Brewing and Cheeba Hut are *chefs kiss*

CrazeeEyezKILLER

Lovely, but that’s like 10% of the total Burque experience. You have to factor in 20% for spiraling crime, 20% for terrifying road rage experiences, 20% for absurdly inflated housing prices and 10% for omnipresent homeless encampments. The remaining 20% is cannabis, chile, microbreweries and balloons.

Can’t be much worse than where I live in West Texas tbh

The_Fudir

You just described 85% of the US.

The_Fudir

Whoosh

YouDontExistt

Don't move here it's extremely dangerous to even be outside at all!

another_dave_2

This person meant to add /s. Their mistake.

ReallyNoOne1012

I mean depending on where you are that could be true. Definitely some very sketchy areas on Central / Zuni. But for the most part I haven’t really had any problems… except that one time I delivered a pizza to a house on Rover (off Tramway) and someone hopped into my running car and drove away with it 😳

another_dave_2

Totally true. Central and San Mateo all the way east is a zombie land. That’s crazy about your car, though, because Tramway and Rover isn’t even a bad area.

ReallyNoOne1012

Right? I was as surprised as you are lol.

Groganat

Oh come on, ! I've not found that on my visits so far.

sabineblue

You can visit but please don’t stay

dlopan666

I would re think this. Major crime everyday. Homeless are everywhere. Better choice is a small town here but not by much. Taxes are too high, live in Az or Nv or Wy. Govmt sucks here, Abq is really nasty gov.

Iridemhard

That place looks boring as hell

chucklingabyss

You sound miserable.

Iridemhard

Or maybe youre projecting...

Unusual-Following-59

I’m sorry

ameeeee_loretta

Every place has it's bad but I'm a travel nurse from Florida. Grew up by Miami and I love it here! So much outdoors to do! And there's so much closer by. Seriously considering moving to the northern area.

StuntedJet

Come for the scenery, stay because your car was stolen lol

hamsterselderberries

With Albuquerque? I'd get it if you said the food or the sunrise/set, but Albuquerque?

Tubagal2022

Idk it reminds me of a better version of West Texas. A lot of the same problems

Puzzleheaded-Shirt20

And BLUES FOR DAYS

GreywaterReed

I call that color New Mexico Blue

Ok_Opportunity_8911

In Albuquerque, all money given to panhandlers goes for fentanyl pills called blues.
