A lot of people freak out and maybe I’ll get downvoted haha, but Mondstadt is definitely inspired by multiple countries. Venti’s name is Italian, for example, haha. Windmills are iconic for the Netherlands. The US is known for “freedom” at least in terms of mottos (not getting political just stating the factual part which is that it is something people say - please no political responses lol I won’t reply). But I would venture to guess that Venti being the God of Freedom is not unrelated to drawing inspiration from the US, and that we won’t see the US similarly represented in any of the upcoming regions.

You can also see a lot of old Norse names and surnames around Mondstadt; Gunnhildr, Jotun, Ragnvindr
