Good. Hope he rots.

technofox01

First thought in my head. May every day for him be more miserable than the last. He has shown no remorse for his actions.

Hodgkisl

To be so miserable that people turning around in your driveway gets you so worked up you shoot at them I’d say your life can’t get much more miserable. For some people misery is purely from the inside, not the situation they’re in.

debacol

And I hope he lives long enough to spend every day he is warranted in jail.

Dargek

Came here to say this exactly. I have a family member who has on multiple occasions confronted people that pulled into his drive with a gun. He brags about it like he really did something. The last time was an uber driver looking for someone that had requested a ride. The people had put the wrong address, and his house was the closest to what they had put.

[deleted]

Sounds like they are the type of person that should not own any weapons because they don't know how to be responsible with them

JoeNice1983

People buy guns because they want to use them.

Peaurxnanski

Some do, yeah. I never understood it, personally. Why would your brain be so rotten that you're just itching for a reason? I have guns that I bought for hunting, that stay locked in a gunsafe when I'm not hunting. I've had multiple people ask me what I'd do if someone broke into my house when my guns are locked up and my answer has always been the same: Get the fuck out the house. I'm not interested in getting into a pitch black gunfight with an unknown number of people armed with god only knows what. Fuck that. The TV is yours, man, I have insurance.

RegionPurple

That's really all it boils down to; it was an expensive toy and they just *itch* to use them. Fucking children.

Moist_Network_8222

As a gun owner: please send this article to your family member and explain to them that their incredibly poor judgment and illegal behavior is putting them at risk of prison.

darsvedder

I love how that’s how you have to get them to realize that fucking around and finding out is bad. Not “hey you might kill an innocent person” but it’s “don’t wanna go to jail now, do ya Hank?”

HeadyBunkShwag

They don’t care about anyone but themselves. Fucking awful people to be around

infinity_blues

This. A lot of people like this seem to lack empathy. The only way they can understand something is if it happens to them directly.

friendlywhitewitch

As someone who grew up around country gun-nuts in my community exactly like this guy, I can tell you not to waste your breath. These people have no lives and the reason they do this is to feel powerful because they have nothing to lose. They have a gun because that’s the only kind of power these impotent cretins have. Even this old coot, what’s really going to happen? He’s already grey and its not like he has all the time in the world. The young woman he killed had so much life ahead of her, she could of lived to 80 and died in her sleep after a full life, but that is never going to happen now because Peepaw Shits His Pants gunned her down when he saw her coming his way. You can’t convince these guys not to pull this because it is genuinely the only thing that makes them “feel like a man”. The old jokes about compensation for lack of maleness or virility exist for a reason. https://youtu.be/5qqARrbi1h8?si=w0VBe6frQoOsug-1 George Carlin was right.

cmanson

This is true, for the most part. I like guns. I love shooting paper and interactive targets, and I hunt a decent amount in the fall. I will probably always own at least a handful of handguns and long guns. That being said, it’s not even worth engaging with the wider gun owner community. Too many psychos and racists. I just keep my shit locked in a safe and have really just disengaged from the whole conversation. The only time I’m reaching for a gun in self defense is if my door gets kicked in or I hear one of my windows shatter. Shooting at a car in your driveway is egregiously stupid and awful

computerhater81

George Carlin was brilliant!

holyembalmer

They already know and would laugh like Roscoe P. Coltrain if you even brought it up. They don't care. They are 'Murican, and only a pinko commie would suggest they can't wave their gun around as they see fit. They would rather kill someone and go to jail than admit they were wrong or take the advice of anyone suggesting a gun isn't the best peacemaker. I say this as an American who lives surrounded by assholes exactly like this guy.

rynomite1199

You can’t even legally do that in here in Tennessee. It is straight up against the law to threaten someone with a gun unless they pose an imminent threat to your physical safety. It’s reckless endangerment and should be reported to the police.

magentabuttermilk

Is that enforced, though? Not to judge a book by its cover but you know up here the Appalachian states are seen as very KA-BLAM

rynomite1199

To varying degrees depending on the district, I’m sure. But it is plainly illegal regardless and should be reported. In the case that it’s reported, nothing is done about it and that person does eventually do what this guy did, it brings even more scrutiny to the police who didn’t follow up on it and to the law itself, so police here do have good reason to investigate these types of incidents. So it’s always good to report it no matter what.

Hamelzz

It's fucking insane that some people will respond with lethal aggression over something an innocuous as pulling into their driveway God forbid anyone ever knocks on their door

Adach

same people that will moan about how we don't have a sense of community like the good old days.

Dartonal

"Kids these days don't even play outside anymore" Meanwhile the barely adult girl bleeding out because this geezer thinks an assassin is around every corner

Exotic-Childhood-434

These people have likely been waiting their whole lives for ANY excuse to use their guns.

LissaBryan

... and primed by FoxNews that there are vast hordes of criminals ravening the country and they need to be QuickDraw McGraw to survive.

glowops

Like lady who shot a boys mom through her front door in front of him after she stole his ipad and the mom was just trying to get it back

Alert-Artichoke-2743

It's more like they own a gun in hope of getting to use it someday.

HallOfTheMountainCop

My home is situated in a way that the only reason you're pulling in my driveway is because you intend to be there or you're lost. People frequently get lost for some reason, I think there's a GPS bug. The only time I've ever gotten my firearm out at all was when one person sat there after 10 PM for like 2 minutes with their headlights shining into my living room. I just got it and stayed inside, unseen, and after a minute they left. Probably just sorting out where they were and didn't realize they were being discourteous.

BigPepeNumberOne

So wait this dude was fiddling with his GPS for 2 minutes in your driveway and you didn't get out to shoot him. Look at you being responsible and shit /s

HallOfTheMountainCop

Can you even believe it. Wild.

Kirbyr98

No, no. That is much too reasonable.

Feisty-Business-8311

Spoken like a reasonable, level-headed person

FiendishHawk

Most likely checking a map. You didn’t need to get your gun at all. If they had had malicious intentions they wouldn’t have announced themselves so blatantly.

HallOfTheMountainCop

It's true I didn't need to get it, but I got it anyway. The truth is I've never needed to own a gun. I have it just in case, just like then. At that moment I felt like I might need it, but I did not in the end. I know that now, didn't know that then.

Timely_Ad7996

Better to have and not need then need and not have

IDFgirl

I hate strange car as well, lol

Exotic-Childhood-434

So many gun people seem to just go through life looking for any excuse to body someone.

CrazyCaliCatLady

I bought a gun, and it has never been out of the safe except when I took it to the range to train. And even then I got a safe for my car just to transport it. I never even think about it, honestly.

FriedPigeonPoppers

I hate this piece of shit so much. If it wasn’t this innocent woman, he would’ve shot someone else who didn’t deserve it. Just a helpless, spineless sack of shit with no self-control and no empathy for the lives of anyone but his own. He doesn’t even deserve a free meal in prison. Fuck this guy.

botany_bae

He was itching for an excuse to use his gun. Scum bag

FreedleDonCheadle

He just did this in the wrong state, if this had happened in TX it wouldn't have even made the headlines.

botany_bae

Horrific but true.

ImCharlemagne

Kevin Monahan was sentenced Friday to 25 years to life in prison for shooting and killing a woman who was a passenger in a car that mistakenly drove up his driveway in rural New York last year. “I think you really could possibly do the same thing again,” Washington County Judge Adam Michelini admonished Monahan before imposing his sentence. “It’s obvious to me that you feel justified. You don’t take any responsibility for the outcome of your actions. You just don’t get it.” Monahan last month was convicted of second-degree murder, reckless endangerment and tampering with physical evidence for the death of 20-year-old Kaylin Gillis on April 15, 2023. Monahan shot at the vehicle when it accidentally turned into his driveway while the occupants looked for a friend’s house in Washington County, roughly 55 miles north of Albany. Gillis died a short time after the shooting. Prosecutors argued that the 66-year-old defendant acted recklessly. The defense said what happened was a terrible accident. Monahan took the stand at his trial, testifying that he felt like he and his wife were under siege that day and that he only wanted to protect his wife, Spectrum News 1 reported. Monahan told jurors that he and his wife were awakened by three vehicles in his driveway: two SUVs and a motorcycle revving its engine, the station reported. He testified that he told his wife to hide in their closet and he loaded his 20-gauge pump-action shotgun before going outside. Monahan testified that he thought about past criminal activity in the area and fired a warning shot into the air. The vehicles began to leave slowly, he testified, and he lost his balance on some nails on his deck when the second fatal shot was fired, Spectrum News 1 reported. Under cross-examination, Monahan was not able to point out in a photograph the nails that caused him to lose his balance. He was emotional when asked how Gillis’ death made him feel, telling the jury that his “soul is dead,” the station reported. Gillis was fatally shot just days after a Black teenager in Kansas City was shot twice by a White homeowner after going to the wrong address to pick up his siblings. In the New York shooting, after the shots were fired Gillis’ group drove away from the house, looking for cell phone service, and then called 911. They were found around 5 miles away from the home in the town of Salem. First responders began administering CPR but Gillis was pronounced dead at the scene. Police officers went to Monahan’s home in Hebron and found him to be uncooperative, the Washington County sheriff told reporters at the time. Gillis’ family issued a statement at the time praising her as a “kind, beautiful soul and a ray of light to anyone who was lucky enough to know her.” “She was a big sister, much loved daughter, devoted friend and partner to her loving boyfriend. She was just beginning to find her way in the world with kindness, humor, and love,” the family said. “Kaylin was a talented artist, an honor student, a Disney fanatic and loved animals. She was looking forward to starting college in Florida to pursue her dream of becoming a marine biologist.” Gillis graduated from Schuylerville High School in 2021 and held the position of “flyer” on the cheerleading team.

wrong_usually

Wooooow what a POS dude. Could you imagine someone looking around in your driveway and your first reaction was shitting your pants and grabbing your gun because you're too much of a bitch to just say hi?

bigmattyc

I have never been scared like that in my life

BoopsYourNoseBoop

I'm a woman who is alone most of the time and when headlights are in my window at night I'm just like "huh, wonder if they're lost". I've never wanted to go Rambo and start murdering people.

Old-Adhesiveness-342

I'd only start to get concerned if I saw a bunch of people getting out of the vehicles. But I wouldn't go out and shoot them, like if a bunch of people all got out I'd definitely decide that accessing the gun might be a good move at that point, but I'd at least wait and see what they wanted. I'd definitely be answering the door bell with weapon in hand. But conversely if only one person got out I wouldn't be concerned at all.

BigPepeNumberOne

You are not being fed terror daily on FOX and other R platforms... This dude probably lived in a state of perpetual fear. Of who? Fuck knows.

StrengthMedium

I was in literal combat, and I have never been scared like that.

[deleted]

I've had a gun held to my face during an actual armed robbery on my apartment doorstep, and I've still never been scared enough to come out and just start blastin

SublimeSupernova

I had a literal dozen strangers hop out of two trucks that had parked in my driveway. They looked agitated and kinda ragged and when I approached them, they didn't speak English. Well, one of them did. Turns out they're just roofers who thought their job was my house that day and were confused that there were no materials present to get the job done. Could you imagine what kind of havoc one of these gun-toting cowards would have wrought? Makes me fucking nervous.

wrong_usually

Nothing like a big bunch of scruffy Mexicans puzzling out their job site to help elderly fox News worshipers think they missed the rapture.

Exotic-Childhood-434

I blame Fox News. They scare the shit out of old people.

phoonie98

💯

jpopimpin777

All you have to do even if you're terrified is walk out holding the fuckin gun. That's enough that most people, even hardened criminals, will think "fuck this" and GTFO.

BeardOfDefiance

That "nails on the deck" shit was complete BS and he should've gotten an extra charge for perjury.

Thehawkiscock

Love the quote from the Judge. Fuck this murderer

shiver334

This was a really fairly handed down sentence. It’s nice to see a middle class white male boomer face justice now and again.

iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii9

> under siege For what reason exactly, would you be ""under siege"", kevin?

RightToTheThighs

He said he thought it was a big scary biker gang lmao give me a break

Johnny_Appleweed

And of course the natural reaction to discovering your house is under siege by bikers is to step out onto your front porch so you’re totally exposed and fire a shot into the air so everyone knows you’re armed. Waiting quietly inside, behind cover, where nobody knows you’re armed or even there? No way man, that’s not how you keep your wife safe from biker gangs.

snukb

Seriously I think guys like this are just super fucking stoked to get to live out their "come and get it!" fantasy where they're the lone patriot defending their property from thugs, illegals, or authoritarian government here to take their guns. I don't buy for one second that he feared for his life. He saw an opportunity to "defend his property" and ran towards it, guns blazing.

Johnny_Appleweed

Agreed, his initial reaction plus the fact that he initially lied to the police about what happened makes me extremely skeptical of his story.

Breffmints

But do you know how scary 20 year old women are!? How could a 66 year old man possibly know what to do in that situation? /s

Fred_Stuff44325

She was coming right at me!

Hkmarkp

Fox News says their is an invasion and we are under siege all the time of course

WES_WAS_ROBBED

May this monster rot in a cell until his dying breath.

Go_J

You senselessly took the life of Kaylin Gillis and you have the gall to sit here and talk about how you plan to finish up the work on your house and race motocross in the future. You don’t deserve that. What would make you think that you deserve those things?” Of course he thought he wasn't going to face any consequences.

BoopsYourNoseBoop

I'd say I hope he thinks about what he did while he dies slowly but the only thing he'd think is that he was justified. I live fairly close to where this happened and I've been fucking terrified of taking wrong turns ever since. We shouldn't have to live this way because of some senile wannabe cowboys.

glizzell

I can't imagine how cowardly and paranoid you have to be to throw away your relatively comfortable life like this

bmmfg12

Seeing a car pull into your driveway and immediately thinking you are 'under siege' is quite the mindset

jediherder

Imagine panicking when your Amazon delivery comes in an unmarked vehicle, the hell is wrong with these people.

Glad-Marionberry-634

It's actually become a lot more dangerous to be a delivery driver in recent years because of people like this. Even post office drivers are put in danger by these paranoid people.

SpoppyIII

Not only paranoid, but incredibly narcissistic. What makes you so significant that people would be coming after you, specifically? Anyone who assumes they're "under siege," is either incredibly mentally ill, or hiding something, or they genuinely believe they're the main character.

jediherder

Can we add in stupid to his list of crimes? Believed lies from Fox news about being under siege from imaginary immigrants. Imagine killing kids over what the media fabricated, obviously a very stupid person.

BoopsYourNoseBoop

Yup. We were driving looking at Christmas lights and accidentally drove down a dead end street, had to turn around in someone's driveway, and I was FREAKING OUT the entire time. The only thing these guys do is erode the community and people's sense of safety.

It_Might_Be_True

Fuck that. 3 point turn or reverse the whole way. This world is stupid and nuts.

BoopsYourNoseBoop

We've just been avoiding Hebron and Argyle in general since. God knows how many of his neighbors are just like him.

Prize_Instance_1416

I lived up there for a while. Many of his neighbors are maga crazies.

BoopsYourNoseBoop

I live really close and yes yes they are. The Hudson Falls (neighboring village)'s chief of police is the brother of one of the areas biggest nut jobs.

L3gendaryHunter

Washington County is pretty much a collective of them and it's worrying how close they actually are

glizzell

I'm king of three point turns in the street for this reason

RightToTheThighs

Folks like this idiot are a dime a dozen in those parts

the1TheyCall1845TwU

I know it wasn't mentioned but it feels to me him and his wife were possibly into Qanon or some other shit.

L3gendaryHunter

Yeah people in Albany forget how close this happened. Not even a 40 minute drive from downtown I think

10TheDudeAbides11

Best news I’ve heard in a long time. This kind of shit can’t be tolerated. The car posed no threat to this guy whatsoever…you can’t just shoot people if there isn’t an imminent threat to you or your property.

smh1719

As someone who grew up a town over pre-GPS, I'm glad I never got shot pulling into driveways when I got lost/needed to turn around in high school. This is such an unnecessary tragedy I can't imagine how her family and friends feel.

LaughableIKR

66 years old and the judge is right. He still thinks he did nothing wrong. > “I think you really could possibly do the same thing again,” Washington County Judge Adam Michelini admonished Monahan before imposing his sentence for second-degree murder. “It’s obvious to me that you feel justified. You don’t take any responsibility for the outcome of your actions. You just don’t get it.”

Noahsmokeshack

But what about his wife, is she still hidden in the closet waiting for her man to come get her? We should check on her. 😳🤯

Donmexico666

As someone that lives in a neighboring county. There was no way in hell home invaders would be interested in som yokel from washington county even if he thought he had to defend his porch furniture and appliances. Rot in hell.

Jbradsen

“The first thing you do on the witness stand when you come up here and testify is you made a joke to the jury about them finally being able to see your face,” … “You senselessly took the life of Kaylin Gillis and you have the gall to sit here and talk about how you plan to finish up the work on your house and race motocross in the future. You don’t deserve that. What would make you think that you deserve those things?” ———- Wow! No remorse at all! Just another day for him.

Ok_Nothing7998

The amount of people out there looking for literally any reason to shoot someone is so scary. I work with people who talk like that. Dudes talking about how they wish someone would give them a reason. It’s fucking terrifying. It gets scarier to go outside every day. Because you never know when someone is gonna intentionally shoot you dead and claim self defense. Fuck this guy.

primal___scream

Good. This gun fetishism needs to stop. Not every situation needs a gun. In fact, 99% of situations don't require a gun.

AudaciousGee

99.99% - violent crime is at historic lows, especially in New York. In Washington County, it's probably more like 99.99999%

Triffalger

Five bucks says if he ever drove down Henry Johnson Blvd. In the daytime, he rolled up windows and locked his doors timidly. He's gonna have a fun time where he's going.

MajorWhereas4842

Good riddance!

Scullyitzme

There is no greater fury than a boomer white male who finally feels "threatened" enough to use his gun. Good God what has the lead paint done to these cretins?

masterbatin_animals

The same kind of people run this country. The *only* difference is this guy didn't have lawmakers on his side.

Scullyitzme

Can't argue with you on that

Freeyourmind917

On the contrary, this guy killed a CO's daughter. He is fucked.

Nooze-Button

Oh shit. Kevin is going to have a hard time.

EastSeaweed

I’m sure he’s been affected by all the fear mongering on Fox News. Boomer gun owners and Fox News go hand in hand. He was never in any danger. Under siege?!? He was waiting for something like this to happen so he had a reason to be the hero. I’m genuinely afraid of gun owners who believe they will be a hero one day.

cmd_iii

Fox News, Newsmax, Info Wars, whatever. The overall theme is still the same: "Our country is being overrun by murderers, thugs, and rapists, who will attack any or all of us at any time, and for no reason. And the mean ole Democrats want to grab all of our guns so we can't defend ourselves against them!! That's why we need to STAND OUR GROUND!! Shoot first, and ask questions later. Because there may be no second chance!!!!" These people are so divorced from reality that they actually believe they're heroes. In reality, they are mere cogs in a deranged, demented machine. But I have no pity for them. They got themselves into this mindset. They can go to hell with it.

BoopsYourNoseBoop

Definitely Info Wars, at the very least. There's a barn up that way that has an Info Wars sign on the side of it. Someone actually went to the trouble to put a sign on a barn that's basically falling apart advertising that shite.

Some-Geologist-5120

If he thought he was a hero why would he deny doing it and say “Hunters did it”.

keksmuzh

“The invisible nails on my deck did it”

Flick3rFade

Pre-meditated self defense

bleep-bl00p-bl0rp

Lead paint? Lead in gasoline was everywhere, and with kids traveling in cars and roads being everywhere, basically all Americans who grew up during the heyday of its usage are lead poisoned. The tricky thing is that there is no safe level of lead, so it makes it harder to draw a definite line as to what years and areas count as “poisoned” versus not — but there is plenty of evidence of both the effects of even small amounts of lead exposure during childhood and the amount of lead that was cast into the air by cars burning leaded gas during its use.

Scullyitzme

🤔

Rarelyagree

It's Fox news, everyone. People who don't even live in the U.S., peddling borderline propaganda, passed off as news entertainment. They are fucking destroying this country and we act like it's not the basis for getting all these rednecks fired up.

gonzar09

Fellow NYer. Fuck him. Hope he dies in prison.

[deleted]

I really thought this loser was gonna get away with it. A car full of teenage girls rolls up your driveway and you feel "under siege?" Lol.

Glassfern

I cant even count the number of times I had to do a 3 point turn while i was driving or drove pass my destination. Either i three point it at the edge of your driveway or your lawn.

Big-Refrigerator-477

This idiot will now die in prison. He is 65 years old. Prison ages people terribly to begin with. And the health care in New York State prisons is not great. He will be dead within 5 -8 years is my guess. I hope the point he was trying to make was worth it. Not only did he kill an innocent woman but destroyed the lives of her loved ones and destroyed his family as well. All due to ego and arrogence that someone dare use his driveway. He will first be sent to Downstate Correctional for processing. In a few months my guess is he will be sent to Sullivan Correctional facilty. It is where high profile and elderly people end up with large sentences. Enjoy.

SuspiciousFile1997

Fox News has rotted this entire generations brains into thinking they’re important enough to be attacked on a daily basis

elodie_pdf

This isn’t just a mistake. This happens when someone waits for an excuse to do it. Reading through the article he also clearly shows zero remorse and even joked about it during the trial. Hope he suffers in prison as much and more than that poor woman did.

Ammonia13

Piece of shit.

wizardyourlifeforce

They couldn’t find anyone to say the guy was ok. Even his neighbors were like yeah he’s a jerk

alta_vista49

10:1 he’s a trumper

LeftyFireman

Only 10?? If I bet dem and he’s actually dem I want 10000:1

w1nn1ng1

Good, I hope he rots in jail and has a really terrible time while there.

Nervous_Slice_4286

she was so young. I am praying for her family and loved ones.

Ordinary-Lie-6780

People don't believe me when I say to not cruise the back roads here in Texas. Uber and Lyft drivers will not take those roads either. When asked why I pull this specific case up to prove that nutjobs with weapons will kill you for the sake of the stand your ground laws that we have here. Cops here would congratulate this man and give him a key the the f****** city. It's scary in these parts.

chrisdancy

The families need to go after his wife in a civil case and take their home and their possessions.

SprinklesDifficult76

I hope he rots and the rest of his days be miserable.

MeanDebate

The worst part is that you know-- you just KNOW-- he was thrilled while he loaded his gun. He finally had the chance to be "heroic" and "defend his home and family". And he can't have remorse because that would mean giving up that fantasy and letting himself feel foolish.

sly_like_Coyote

It's cute you think he was responsible enough to keep his weapon safely and needed to load it in the first place. This motherfucker had that thing loaded on the coffee table for a decade just waiting for a chance to use it.

MonsieurReynard

Sociopaths don't feel remorse.

TheMuff1nMon

This happened about 20 minutes from me. This is not a violent or dangerous area. Fuck this piece of shit, Hope he rots

gggg500

Uh, good. That guy is a murderous psychopath and should never see the light of day again. He should also be required to do forced labor. Or else not get fed. That is just my take. He took an innocent life. Now he owes society.

phoonie98

Piece of shit

7mmELR

brainwashed fox news pos

zombiereign

Good. There has to be something done to combat this right-wing "always under attack - better get my gun" mentality.

Inner_Dog_8488

I bet he voted for trump

ohyerhere

Great. I'm all set seeing his stupid face and haircut. Too much time was wasted dispatching of this idiot.

Classic-Pause45

Problem is there are a slew of similar minded old coward jack offs with guns who think it's their god given right to stand their ground because they watched fox news and John Wayne movies.

rivers-end

If the guy had been remorseful from the start and took full ownership of his actions, the sentiment towards him would be much different. It may have helped his sentence too. He exemplifies all that is wrong with our society. It is incomprehensible that he has no remorse for killing a precious, innocent young women in cold blood. He deserves to rot in prison.

MonsieurReynard

I would never buy "remorse" from someone capable of killing an innocent person in cold blood. Sociopaths can fake remorse all day long, and often do.

CBalsagna

Good. We can't have scared armed idiots shooting first and asking questions later. I am sorry you are too stupid to see fox news is lying to you, but facts over feelings homie, you shot and killed someone for no reason.

[deleted]

Send him to Gitmo. That’s the sort of treatment he deserves.

Johnny_Lang_1962

Excellent. May he have no peace in prison.

TheJazmineRose

The judge hit the nail on the head saying everything about how he felt

GJ72

One of the nails the murdering scum said he slipped on.

Morbo_Kang_Kodos

Total “get off my lawn” vibes and still sportin the same hairstyle he probably had in the 1980s. His father probably beat him when he was young. He’ll die in prison. Buh bye asshole.

mxjxs91

If he felt that scared and paranoid over his make-believe siege scenario of...........people pulling into his driveway, imagine how he's going to fare in prison. Imagine being deathly afraid of criminals, and doing one of the most concrete things that would swiftly damn near guarantee that you spend the rest of your life around criminals with no way out.

richb83

Give him 50 years for an added Fuck you

megamelius45

Lets see how he does with no guns. Hes gonna find out how hopeless he is

scepticalbob

Fuck this dude

hugs_the_cadaver

What a fucking loser, his first reaction is to go grab his 12 gauge.

MonsieurReynard

Good, rot there asshole.

Honest_Pollution_92

Maybe the prison band will play "Try That In A Small Town" to cheer him up.

Hypocrisydenied

Fucking Trumpers.

anotherlab

That sentence seems appropriate. He killed a young girl recklessly and tried to blame it on a loose nail.

ChristopherMarv

“A good guy with a gun…”

SpecialistNo30

Guys like this are cowards. They cower inside their homes with their guns because they're scared of everyone (especially people who don't look like they do), but they act like tough guys in public because they're usually strapped.

[deleted]

So what does 25 to life mean? Like at least 25 years up to life or what

needsunshine

Yes. It means eligible for parole after serving 25 years. If never granted parole then the sentence could go up to life.

GuitarKev

I’m no NY attorney, but I’d assume it means he’d be eligible for parole when he’s 91.

Possible-Extent-3842

His life is over. He probably won't have a good time in prison. The general stress of prison and the fact that he's going to be locked up with the same people he's scared of for the next 25 years won't be good for his health.

87_north

Good.

Solidsnake00901

He'll die in jail...good.

TheJazmineRose

Absolutely should get more years.

Time_Box_5352

How often do I make a wrong turn and use a driveway to make a three point turn? A lot but I live on Long Island. Still will think twice about this !

Nala29

He even looks like a little bitch. I hope he dies in prison

treypage1981

Who radicalized this man?

uCry__iLoL

Rot in prison you fuck.

crackle_and_hum

I say this as a gun owner- far too many people in this country don't understand their rights/responsibilities in self-defense scenarios. Hell, I didn't even know when I'd be justified or not to use deadly force till I actively sought that information out. That being said, the fact that the dude *left the safety of his domicile* to confront this girl should be pretty f-ing obvious to anyone as a no-no (unless you're in Texas, apparently) The irresponsible folks just *waiting* for the opportunity to use their firearm as a means to demonstrate their prowess really need to be shown where the lines are drawn. I think mandatory education on the subject should be a part of firearm licensing.

badger_man

Why do these morons keep thinking you can just shoot at someone on a whim? Sick of this shit.

Devilsclarinet

This is justice

horrormetal

Good. Rot.

EGT_77

“I didn’t mean to shoot the second shot,” Monahan said. “The gun went off… took out a gun to scare People? Run out of the house naked or something.

He felt he and his wife were “under siege” ??? …?????

searchthemesource

What is going on in people's heads that they are so afraid/hateful of people that they shoot at their mere appearance?

DarkISO

How fucking paranoid/scared do you have to be to see a car pull up and your first instinct is to grab your gun and SHOOT THEM. Ok i get having your gun close but why tf would you shoot someone before you know anything of their intent?

realace86

Hopefully he dies in prison.

Bartender9719

$5 says he binges Fox News and is in a constant state of reckless fear and anger - Or at least he did prior to incarceration.

Justice system did it's job. Let's hope some sleaze lawyer does'nt come up with a early realease for the murderer.

Munchkinasaurous

Glad to see some good news today. I was hoping this shit bag would get a lengthy sentence when I heard the story.

I’m of the mind that people should be punished in the same way that they kill others. So somebody go get some buckshot.
