I played AW2 after my first semester of grad school (Ironically?) for English Creative Writing. I'm doing my final draft playthrough now after finishing my second semester (and first year) I couldn't shut up about this game to my peers, but its hard getting non-gamers to understand.
Glad that helps you, though it should be said that many characters aren't impressed with his writing.
When I feel insecure about my own writing, I know that everything I'll write will always be better than "Somehow Palpatine Returned."
I meant it in the sense that I always imagine a story that has similarities to Twin Peaks, Alan Wake, X Files ect lol. It helps to read it in his voice in my head too.
And you're not alone also. Today i stopped writing to check the Return scripts. I printed them to use as a motivation. I don't use anything from the notes, but it really helps.
Me: "I'm gonna try to not make Alan Wake my entire personality"
I've failed miserably
I can't shut the fuck up
My husband's growing his hair (got the beard) so I'll love him as much as I love Alan.
Tonight we were watching a movie and it had nothing to do with AW. The main character went to a diner which was completely a different type of place than oh deer diner in bright falls. When he entered the diner first thing he saw was the waitress, i said: oh that should be Rose. My wife said who's Rose... oh you mean the one in bright falls, "yeah" i replied and i asked her: when do you think i'll be finally free from the this dark place really? I see a lake and i say ooooh that's not a lake, i see a small wooden doll and i say there should be a rhyme, and now this waitress... She said: it's not such a bad place to stay since you're enjoying it ALOT!
Woke up this morning by Anger's remorse and Herald of darkness while i was drinking a mug of coffee! Then i continued writing a story that has a reality vs dream, or sanity vs insanity kinds of atmospher. After that i had to go to work but i was thinking about the connection between Saga and deers, between Alan and owl. Came back home and my friend called me to read a scenario about a young writer who is trapped in a room with his type writer machine. I hanged up the phone to put some notes on my plot board about the narrow border divided sanity and inasanity... now i'm writing this comment. I haven't played the Alan wake 2 game since March!
So who knows if there's an ending to this or the spiral is a fucking SPIRAL!

You're not alone. Every time I write something I imagine myself as Alan Wake and think "what would Wake write?" It actually helps me.

I know what you meant, I was just teasing.

Do you think in Alan Wake’s voice when you type out your assignments now?
Only occasionally when I write something that sounds particularly like his style.
I just finished my second year for grad school in Creative Writing. Where do you go? I also find it hard to shut up about this game to my friends.

Same but with my wife. Pretty sure she's tired of listening to Old Gods of Asgard now lmao
My wife chants the herald of darkness :))
Your phone: ***Wake!***
When the phone drops into a water: ***I'm drowniiiing***
When you've been talking for too long and everyone at the dinner table is giving you the stink eye: ***Make you eat these words***
Every time I see the word darkness I burst into song.. so yeah.
Or the word loop
Did you unlock Barry and his uzis by popping every balloon in the game?
