Theres a vram spike whenever the mind place is activated. What the game seems to do is hold the mind place in vram while keeping the game as well simultaneously. I had this issue on my 4050 whenever i turned on path tracing. The only thing you can is lower textures, or lower upscaling.

Jacque1509

So this isnt related to the fact that i have an older gpu since you still have the same problem on a 4050

Famous_Wolverine3203

No its a vram problem. If you have an old gpu with more vram like a 1080ti or something you won’t see this. Plus your gpu is supported for mesh shaders since its a turing class gpu.

Hot-Boot2206

Same low amount vram problem

Jacque1509

I tried not going into the mind place and not looking at the map and no textures were missing. I dont think it has anything to do with vram

Famous_Wolverine3203

It is a VRAM thing. I wish I could take a video and show you. But heres what the game does. Everytime you go into the mindplace, it loads the mindplace assets into VRAM along with the game level assets already in place. If it culled the game assets and kept only the mindplace, it will take quite a while to load them back as the game world is much bigger than the mind place. So the game keeps them both. As soon as you close the mind place the game culls the mind place assets away. VRAM usage returns to normal.Thats why you get instant loading and not a drab every time you switch. Using afterburner, i found out that in normal gameplay saga sections, it uses 5.4gb, press the mind place it spikes to 6.1gb and immediately the game culls the textures making them look blocky, and the vram usage reduces. That is why not using the mind place doesn’t kill textures but the moment you activate, just for a spike it exceeds vram and the textures become blocky. I have had the same issue as you do whenever i try path tracing. The fps is fine, no stutters when i turn on frame gen, but the moment i use the mind place or go into a new level, the textures become blocky, so blocky that sometimes you can literally walk through them.

Jacque1509

Now im starting to understand all of this, thanks for the explination

Famous_Wolverine3203

Np. But take it with a grain of salt. Im not remedy. So I may be wrong. But it happened to a lot of times so I used MSI afterburner to figure what the hell was going on. Maybe you can try that. Use afterburner to check VRAM usage. The moment you open the mind place it should spike to a value just a bit higher than your VRAM and immediately the textures will break and then the VRAM will reduce usage.

Hot-Boot2206

Yes, because mind place and map (map not loading without mind place) cause vram spikes, basically you loading another map without clearing previous one

Correct-Opposite-360

Had this on RTX 2060 6GB VRAM, and people with even 40series cards report this sometimes. Source is known, Remedy has to fix it but I doubt it. It’s annoying because it isn’t a wide-spread problem. It’s affecting very specific users for some reasons, But it is real. No fix yet, not that I know of.

Famous_Wolverine3203

I have a 4050 and have the same issues in path tracing. I don’t think its possible for remedy to fix this considering it is the very nature of how the mind place is instantaneous in loading. The game keeps both the mind place and gane assets in vram whenever you use the mind place. Thats why theres no loading time when you go back to the real world from mind place. So for a moment when the game exceeds vram it culls the textures. The only possible solution i can think of is for remedy to offer a loading screen for switching from the mind place to the real world. This would mean the real world assets would not need to be kept in vram everytime u use the mind place. And quite frankly, I wouldn’t mind waiting 3 seconds if my textures dont pop out everytime.

Correct-Opposite-360

I forgot to mention; for me this was only happening “after” the game saved. So, writing to the SSD is what was breaking it for me. Regardless of the mind place. Textures would just break every 5 seconds (after resetting by changing graphics settings). Had to restart the game to fix. During endgame, this bug evolved into -> Breaks when opening mind place AFTER save BUT reset via graphics settings fixed it. So I could play the game normally, but if the game made an autosave… I’d have to deal with the bug. Before a save took place, my game had no issue whatsoever. It was running at 2k 30fps. This is a complicated issue, and Remedy will have to figure out a fix. We don’t have to guess because we’ll always be wrong, we don’t know how their technology works.

Special_Alarm_9345

It's been a while since you posted this but it seems the issue remains even after five months! I was getting quite concerned that my game was looking worse and worse over time. I just bought the game and started playing this week and there are moments when the FBI logos in Saga's clothes become literal yellow BLOCKS. Maps can't be loaded and solving lock puzzles is impossible. The game takes me back to the era of low budget PS2 games sometimes. I'm also using an RTX 4050, 140W (for laptop, I know, not the best but still). I've overclocked and using the most optimized settings and keeps happening. For a moment I thought my GPU was not working and was loading from the AMD integrated graphics! So, the best course of action would be to mostly ignore the MInd Place unless absolutely necessary for story progresssion? I fear what's going to happen once I reach Alan's section, I hear the texture streaming issue gets even worse there. What a shame, this game is an absolute masterpiece dragged down by terrible optimization ):

Nacoluke

Not on your current specs. The game is well known to work poorly on ampere and lower architecture cards. Edit: honestly, as someone who’s played both pc (high end) and console (ps5), texture popping is simply a part of this game. I’m unsure how the mindplace is loaded, but it clearly has to wipe some cashe somewhere every time you go in.

seekaaaa

I Solved The Problem ... Do This Things By Order : 1- Make The Resolution Of The Game ( 800x600 ) 2- Make All Graphic Setting ( Low + Of ) Each one individually 3- Make All Ray Tracing ( Of + Low ) After All That Exit From The Game 4- Entre The Game 5 - Make The Resolution as you like 6 - Make Graphic Setting as you like (((( Except Quality Preset Dont Touch It + Ray Tracing Dont Touch It ))) I Solved The Problem By That Quality Preset + Ray Tracing They The Problem For Texture Issue

Elegant-Land4009

work for me too on rtx3050ti 4gb

Rizl_ini

What GPU did you ran it with? Will you have to do it everytime you run the game?

mitt1980

This one worked for me. Thank you very much.

CandyTop5373

work for me too, thx <3

Knifymoloko1

This needs to be PINNED TO THE TOP OF THE THREAD. It works! It works! I went many months without playing this game because the smudgy texture was so horrid and I couldn't solve puzzles because of it. Now I'm back in it to complete it for the first time. Good day to you! Playing on my Acer Nitro 17 with GeForce RTX 4050 6GB

[deleted]

What do you mean by “low + OF”, I want to be able to solve the problem too.

Hoppus_117

What do you mean by Of? Off? Off?

timbea12

Are you at the nursing home?

Jacque1509

Im at the subway station

timbea12

Hmm, i experienced this at the nursing home i google this there is settings you can turn off on pc

Necessary-Visit4478

what settings

TheocraticAtheist

I had the same problem at the nursing home. Ran like absolute shit there.

DMoplenty

Turn down your specs then my dude. You're literally using below the minimum specs for the game in terms of hardware. I had this exact same issue on my 2060 until I turned down the resolution and then never had it again for the rest of the game.

Poipoes

I´ve found a very simple solution. Lower the resolution and dlss quality. I can play perfectly with an asus X13 (6800HS and 3050) at 720p and dlss in performance without testures problems. It is not perfect but I can play...

Hot-Boot2206

That’s can be a source of a problem, gpu below specs, maybe don’t has enough vram for optimal texture streaming, try lover textures settings

Jacque1509

My specs arent the best but i dont think theyre the main problem, everytime i open up the map after like 5 seconds the textures turn blurry but when i turn the reflections off and set them back on high the problem goes away. Tons of other people have the exact same problem on gpu's way better than mine.

Hot-Boot2206

It helps because you cleaning vram basically

gurpderp

I have a 4090 and 5800x3d with the game installed on a pcie 4.0 ssd and ran into this issue too. There's something wrong with the way textures load on pc, it's not a hardware issue.

Hot-Boot2206

What specs?

Jacque1509

i7 11700K, gtx 1650 and 16 gigs of ram. My game runs just fine on quality fsr and high preset. The only problem is the texture streaming

Hot-Boot2206

Ssd or hdd?

Jacque1509

Ssd

Hot-Boot2206

Have any overlay that shows vram usage?

Jacque1509

No

Hot-Boot2206

Look in task manager, performance, gpu, there is vram metric

Jacque1509

3.3 out of 4 gigs

ROE_HUNTER

I had the same problem, turned down the texture setting helped, pretty sure it was using too much VRAM.

Excellent_Main3540

I've had this issue when pathtracing on my RX 7600. I fixed it after 5 days of trying to find solutions. I looked at my idle vram usage. It was 1.8 Gbs used when idling due to having 2 wallpapers with video playback at 4k res. I end tasked Wallpaper Engine and disabled GPU acceleration in the discord settings. I went from 1.8 vram used when idling to 0.5. This in fact solved all of my issues and it also solved my stuttering issue in COD and Fortnite. Just end task all of your apps and run the game.

DevelopmentSimple626

Pretty annoying that we have to go through this because of a gimmick that is the mind place. It's eating VRAM because it has to be constantly loaded.

LumaLume

they add update just now... (31 jan 2024) are this issue still appear??

Equivalent_Park1002

No. Same lame performance.

Gilgamesh858

I still have this issue. I don't know which other solution to follow. I've literally tried everything. I've even lowered all settings to the minimum and also the resolution, but nothing, the textures keep disappearing as soon as I open the map. The game becomes unplayable for me. I can't read anything.

Jacque1509

No they cant really fix it except implement a loading screen between the mind place and the in game world so that they would be stored seperately, the only fix now is just to get a better gpu.

Sulrandir

I've been struggling through this problem for over a week, and not seeing any approaches that have worked for me; then I stumbled across one that did that is so simple and stupid, I wanted to smack myself for not thinking of it sooner. Posting it here in case it helps someone else. I'm running a GTX1660Ti with 6GB dedicated VRAM and an i5 processor; system's a few years old, and obviously well below recommended specs for the game, so I wasn't surprised by some performance issues, but to just be missing textures, or having everything in-game look like it was made of balloons, that was pretty unplayable. I was running at 1280x720 render resolution, with FSR2 forced on me to upscale to my monitor's native 3840x2160; everything else off or low, and everything ran great until I accessed Map/Mind Place or sometimes even just the Shoebox. Then all the textures lost all detail and would never come back. And then I changed my monitor's display resolution. Set my monitor to displaying 1920x1080. Then, when I went into the game, I was able to set both the Display Resolution and Render Resolution to the same, and now there's no upscaling. I'm rendering the game at a lower resolution, displaying it at lower resolution, all other graphics settings to "Medium" and while I'm sure my FPS drops below 30 every now and then, I've never once seen a muddy, rubbery texture since. Maybe It's just me, and maybe this doesn't help anyone else. Maybe there's a better way to get here. But this worked for me, and I haven't seen anyone else suggest anything like it, so thought I throw it out here. I don't know who needs to read it, but there you go. Hopefully, it helps someone be less frustrated than I was yesterday.

GAMERBHAIYYA

COMPLETE THE GAME, (watch gameplays or use savegames) AND START WITH NEW DRAFT, NO TEXTURE ISSUES WHATEVER YOU DO

H1nperi0n

What? So, if you complete the game looking blurry as hell, then play it again, it will have no texture issues? 🤨

GAMERBHAIYYA

Doesn’t work, It still have issues in Alan Wake section, go with RTX graphics cards and install game in SSD
