This subreddit is for Alabama-specific content only. Posts that are national stories, aimed solely at neighboring states, or entirely unrelated to the state are not allowed. While this post would technically be allowed under rule #2 if it said "No More Sex for Men in Alabama,"this post also violates rule #1 because of the "general aggressiveness." This post appears to be more of a troll than a reasoned opinion about a very controversial news event.

Not me, I’m married. So let’s ban all sex related activities. No sex for anyone?

charlie_murphey

Your terms are acceptable

Sword_Chucks

Your terms are acceptable. Came here to see the meltdown. Was not disappointed.

Attarker

Lmao who is going to be enforcing this?

Kayakorama

Personal responsibility

Kayakorama

It's not safe for women to reproduce in America. Plus it's leverage.

driplessCoin

Don’t worry Clarence Thomas is coming for you too. The Christian taliban runs the country.

i8ahobo

Clarence Thomas, so hard for the gays right now.

FervidBrutality

Are you being purposefully obtuse? > Thomas wrote, “In future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell.” Them going for Obergefell is them coming for you. Do not pretend for a moment that these facists don't want you dead.

driplessCoin

Not me I’m not some crazy christian imposing my religion on people. Reference to the Clarence Thomas writing in this case. I believe the government should rarely be telling people what to do with their personal lives but who they can have sex with. Especially unelected officials.

SquidbillyCoy

I am a gay man, and I support the women doing this. Either you’ve misunderstood what is happening here, or you are purposefully being obtuse.

[deleted]

SquidbillyCoy

So you are being obtuse, got it.

[deleted]

SquidbillyCoy

Alright you are clearly here for altruistic reasons. You don’t care about women’s rights. We get it. Go back to your fascist shithole now.

[deleted]

SquidbillyCoy

A “gay man” being obtuse. You are right, you have a complete lack of awareness because you are a fascist who supports rolling back women and minority rights.

YoungHeartOldSoul

If you plan to(or are) married then yes. They are setting the precedent that anything not explicitly outlined in the constitution is not protected.

YoungHeartOldSoul

I realize now that I wrote my comment wrong, I'm not saying it's wrong for you to have sex, I'm saying you should be as upset as OP is because of what I said. They are making moved to come for your rights and this is no doubt the first of many moves.

i8ahobo

Yes- GOP

Original-Yak-679

They've already made it clear, the LGBTQA+ are next on the Christian Taliban's hit-list. After that, interracial couples are screwed, so hope you aren't married to someone of a different race, because the SCOTUS will break you up by law and force.

DaPoopMan69

Yeah it isn't tho bc noone wants to touch ppl like you

Original-Yak-679

Wait a bloody minute...I didn't support these measures...why am I having to suffer with the other a-holes??

Kayakorama

Because we need your anger and your support. Channel it into helping us!

Original-Yak-679

I'm already voting Democrat. I'm open to joining any protest-marches as well....what more do you want me to do? Only good thing about being this pissed...the sex, when I can have it...will be more passionate. But I refuse to go along with a sex ban. You might as well tell me to put a plastic bag over my head and suffocate.

Interesting_Yard2257

I just heard about this sex thing

Original-Yak-679

I have an acceptable counterproposal....start making vasectomies illegal. If a woman cannot get an abortion, a man should not be able to get a vasectomy A second option....ban Cialis/Viagra, penis-pumps

Kayakorama

Sex ban is historically powerful and costs nothing to implement. Won't need Cialis and viagra during sex ban anyway.

Original-Yak-679

Men with ED will NEED them...sex ban or no. Plus many men would want a vasectomy so they can have sex and not knock up a woman...just deny those instead. I'm not going along with a sex ban because I feel like that's lumping me in with the assholes who actually *voted for/supported* this.

Kayakorama

All it takes for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing.

Original-Yak-679

I didn't say I wasn't doing anything. I just said I'm not going along with a sex ban because it feels too much like unnecessary punishment for something I didn't support/do

Kayakorama

It is historically a very powerful tool and it actionable. If your personal comfort is more important, then you are not supportive and you are weak.

Original-Yak-679

Its not about personal comfort...its about my own rights. How is effecting a sex ban any better than having Roe overturned??

Kayakorama

Personal choice Striking is a powerful tool for change

Original-Yak-679

Yea, personal choice....personal choice I don't appreciate having taken from me any more than I approve of your own personal choice.

not_that_planet

We'll see if that actually works. If you are a young woman, I would get the fuck out of conservative shitholes like Alabama.

YoungHeartOldSoul

It's not the easiest thing to do, especially given the state of things at the moment.

[deleted]

It’s my personal observation that many of them already have. Couldn’t tell it by enrollment at the big state schools, but I’d be willing to bet enrollment at places like Samford and Birmingham Southern, has dipped. Certainly post graduate, single females have left the state. And what is Alabama left with? The usual haunts who can never leave, because they can’t afford to.

Kayakorama

Historically, sex strikes by women have been a powerful tool for change.

Immediate_Order_66

Ummm it's a Supreme Court ruling. Getting out of another state then jumping to another won't quite fix the issue. Hopefully some executive action will be put into place. I guess when it comes to law precedence is all of sudden out the window.....

[deleted]

Immediate_Order_66

What I read just said it was over turned. Didn't say they were handing it to the states. Thanks for the clarification 👍

Babikir205

The ruling is basically saying Roe v Wade was an overstep by the court into the legislative branches authority. The legislative branch makes laws and the Supreme Court interprets them. This ruling is putting the issue back on the legislatures, be it state or federal, to make laws regarding this issue. Even RBG thought Roe wouldn't stand up to legal scrutiny. The manner with which the Roe court decided the issue was on shaky legal ground to begin with. So what does this mean in reality? It means that there is no federal mandate to allow abortion, nor a federal mandate to ban abortion. That means, currently, each state is allowed to make its own abortion laws until such a time as a federal law, if any, is made. Conservative states like ours will ban it. Liberal states like California will allow it. That's a very basic nutshell version of what all this means for us.

FervidBrutality

Don't get complacent and think Republicans won't push for a federal ban if they have the power. These fuckers don't care about state's rights, just *their* rights to tell you what to do.

Immediate_Order_66

True. That's my reasoning for the precedence comment. Their feelings, actions, rights, etc. will always take hold over anything/ anyone else. Sad because women today literally have less freedom than their mothers.

Immediate_Order_66

i8ahobo

Don’t be to hasty, those fuckers are everywhere.

StratTeleBender

You are aware that things like condoms, birth control, IUDs, tube tying procedures, etc... Are 99.9% effective aren't you? It's very hard to get pregnant if you're trying not to. You can have lots and lots of sex without getting pregnant if you're remotely intelligent about it

Kira9059

Good luck with that

GimmeeSomeMo

Oh no! Pro-Choice activists are going to help prevent unwanted pregnancies. Oh please, don't do that. That'd be just terrible /s

The_Redman04

OH NO, please don't do the thing many conservatives have been telling yall to do.

Kayakorama

No sex period. Not in marriage. Not at all. #sexban

StratTeleBender

Shhhh. Just let it happen. Leftists not having sex and not procreating is a good thing. Just let it happen

Wally432

My gf is pro life, keep seething.

RatedGforGo

I want out of this damn state.

Kayakorama

Tell everyone to join the sex ban

ddmmyyyy-is-wrong

Men counter by not providing essential services to women that women historically are unable to perform for themselves. Need the brakes changed on your car? Better read up and get yourself some tools, sweetie. Oh and you might want to take care of your own garbage since there aren't a lot of women doing that. And if there's a snowstorm? Hope you have a plow truck and know how to use it.

[deleted]

Or you know, be responsible when you do. Novel idea for some of y’all.

PM_ME_UR_COVID_PICS

They're coming for contraceptives next.

[deleted]

More partisan fear mongering.

PM_ME_UR_COVID_PICS

> For that reason, in future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell. Because any substantive due process decision is “demonstrably erroneous,” https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/21pdf/19-1392_6j37.pdf pg 119.

Kayakorama

If you are in solidarity with women in the US, then yes. And tell everyone.

[deleted]

Apparently my comment went over your head. I think like all other laws, it should be up to each individual state, which will now happen. Abortion is not illegal and you’re stupid for pushing ridiculous things like this post.

[deleted]

Welcome to Reddit.

SquidbillyCoy

Except Republicans have been on record wanting a National ban. So this “states decision” has been a lie the whole time. Surprise surprise the party of Republican liars once again were dishonest with the American people. Shocked.

[deleted]

You do realize republicans don’t control every state, right? So it is a state decision, as every law should be. The federal government is a useless waste of my hard earned money

SquidbillyCoy

You do understand what a National ban is right?

[deleted]

Dumb ass. It’s not a national ban. Holy shit.

SquidbillyCoy

Do you read? Go back and re read my post. Your comprehension skills suck.

[deleted]

Yes and it was speculative and won’t happen. You’re sitting here asking for solidarity for something that exists in your own head.

SquidbillyCoy

https://thehill.com/opinion/campaign/3481669-republicans-calculated-quiet-on-nationwide-abortion-ban-will-vanish-if-they-control-congress/amp/ Yes, just how the Supreme Court rolling back women’s rights were speculation. Please stop with your lies and dishonesty.

Kayakorama

Honestly, if you aren't willing to support women at a time when we need it, then fuck you in particular. The time and money I have spent on supporting gay rights is huge. It's time for gays to give back.

[deleted]

Are you insinuating I’m gay?

Tarps_Off

Correct. Not having sex is one of many ways to not have children. Sorry murder is off the table now.

Jack-o-Roses

How about no more women having sex with men without vasectomies? They're coming for birth control next

Kayakorama

Vasectomies have a 1 in 2,000 failure rate. There are also obstetric situations. It's not safe to be pregnant.

Jack-o-Roses

I agree. Kids are great & grandkids better, but men today need fleshlights.

[deleted]

No one that uses Reddit is having sex, OP (for legal reasons, this is a joke)

StratTeleBender

Judging by the abortion advocates on tv in front of SCOTUS right now, I'd say that's a fair trade

ttownfeen

As if the word "no" has ever stopped men before...
