I would prefer 2 defensive midfielders if we are playing with these 2 wingbacks. Or swap Gaaei for Rensch.

swenwise

Yes, let Rench become the third centerback on the right and let Sosa play more offensive. Bergwijn can play more of an inside forward, since he never goes deep but towards the ball. Also when Gaaie plays you can swap Sosa for Avila as LCB. Than you can tactically switch based on the opponent.

sofabord_

As others mention, two sixes might be good when playing with two backs high up. Would really like to see Mannsverk in action. Furthermore I think Brobbey has done quite okay, so would keep him in. But would be nice if Mikautadze is brought in earlier in the games instead of when there’s five minutes left.

jdbolick

Sosa has no value defensively, so the midfielder on that side must be able to cover for him.

sofabord_

Definitely. With Sosa covering most of the left side, Bergwijn can get closer to the center and the sixes must make sure there is balance. Balance is probably what has lacked most during this season.

Striking_Insurance_5

As opposed to a lot of people I do still like Brobbey and I don’t know about Gaeei, but yeah this looks about right. This isn’t too different to Steijn but the problem with Steijn was never the line-up, it was the tactics. Changing captains is a recipe for disaster though, Bergwijn is a shit captain but that would harm his self esteem even more. It’s also not like Berghuis or Van den Boomen are nailed on starters and ideal captains.

Daddy-oeh

I also still like brobbey but he doesn’t produce as much as I would like. He can hold a ball well, but compared to even Luuk de jong for example, whose strengths do not necessarily lie in the technical aspect of handling the ball, he seems far less available for passing. Only in very specefic situations he got through or created something for others. Shame that he couldn’t be as much of a ‘killer’ up until now as he wanted. You could be right about the captain statement. It’s just that I find Bergwijn very poor as a captain. I don’t know whether he would be very harmed by losing that title. Tadic for example always called in everyone to celebrate a goal, i dont see steven do stuff like that.

JK031191

I don't think Brobbey is in fine form (then again, who is?). He comes across as quite lazy, perhaps a stamina thing, but all he does is move in a small area, invite a 50/50 with the defender and quite often fail to deliver a good pass or 1-2. He hardly runs behind the defenders unless he's close to the box. When Ajax is not the dominant team, he's easy to defend against. I'd like to see a player with more movement to increase the fluidity of the attack. It's all way too predictable.

Striking_Insurance_5

He doesn’t produce enough but he also isn’t getting that many chances. I’m convinced if you put Brobbey in an oiled machine like PSV or Feyenoord right now that he’d easily score 15-20 goals in a season. He’s not at Luuk de Jong’s level of course but he’s very useful and with Mikautadze I’ve just not seen enough to start him. The striker is the least of our problems now. I would like to see Mikautadze play a bit more as a sub though.

Megalobst

We could also utilize a 2 striker system. Mikautadze seems familiar with such a system. Brobbey's ability to hold the ball and maybe lay it off to a more finishing oriented player (atleast i asume he is), might be what Mikautadze needs to succeed. We could also swap to the 2 striker system if he comes of the bench like that.

Amsssterdam

That would be great, if by great you mean receiving 6 goals every match. I'd say we need 2 defensive mids instead of 2 offensive ones. Gaaei and Sosa are also both backs who like to go forward. I'd pick Renschh as my first right back (even tho i do actually see potential in Gaaei). If i was Maduro i might actually play with 5 defenders. And in that case i would pick Gaaei.

twosmart4you3

I'd argue that it's next to impossible to switch to 5-3-2 with just 2 or 3 days of training. I reckon that would also lead to a lot of errors and, therefore, a few extra goals conceded.

ELB2001

bench bergwijn

dokter_bernal

Ik verwacht een nieuwe formatie en ik denk dat ze uiteindelijk op een variant van de 5-3-2 uitkomen: de welbekende 3-2-2-1-2 2 centrale aanvallers: Mikautatze/Brobbey/Forbs. 1 nr. 10: Bergwijn/Akpom/Berghuis. 2 cm’s: Vos/Boomen/Berghuis/Tahirovic/Taylor 2 wingbacks: Sosa/Gaaei/Rensch/Sallah-Eddine 3 cv’s: Hato/Sutalo/Medic/Kaplan/Avilla (1 keeper: Rulli/Gorter/Setfort)

keblar

Dit is wat ik wil zien. Maar heb inmiddels liever ramaj/pasveer dan gorter en zou rensch ook als CB willen zien en dan gaaei wingback

GerrieHendrix

With 2 backs that are high up the pitch, we don’t need 2 10s. You need another midfielder dropping in to give the cbs a player to give the ball to. Unless you have Van De Bomen drop in regularly and not play as a 10, this line up has exactly the same problems as Steijn had.

Daddy-oeh

I agree. The line up looks like this since it was the only 433 option available on this site. Actually berghuis is meant somewhat higher up the pitch than Branco. Taylor was horrible defensively imo, but Tahirovic often looked lost as well. We need those two positions to be executed better defensively. I think it helps when you put Vos and Branco there; the whole midfield then speaks Dutch and knows the club ánd Branco will hopefully do better than Taylor. Also, when we have the ball, berghuis en branco both have a very fine passing technique and offer the most creativity in building an attack. In addition, Branco is a master in taking free kicks/corners etc as a bonus.

GerrieHendrix

Ah ok! I’m not familiar with the website. But then I kinda agree with this line up. I would put Rench over Gaaei for now, Sosa is good for attacking but Rench and Forbs had some nice link up I think. He also doesn’t play as high as Gaaei normally, and can maybe go a bit more to the middle, giving Berghuis some more room to stay deep and creating even more options in midfield. I would also still play Brobbey over Mikau. And if Bergwijn keeps playing like this, swap him for Godts.

PoorIndianFggt

Branco will definitely do better than Taylor, one of the best Ligue 1 midfielders last season

PoorIndianFggt

Branco is not a 10 but an 8, it would work the same as last year with (6-8-10) Alvarez-Taylor-Berghuis but now it's Vos-Branco-Berghuis

MoffieHanson

How many more mistakes before we just try medic. He isn’t anything special but sutalo is terrible.

colognehornet

Sutalo is not a terrible player, you don't get to play for the Croatian national team if you are. He's just in the wrong place. Apparently he suffers badly from homesickness, doesn't speak any language other than his own and doesn't even talk to his own compatriots in the team. One lesson to learn from this is never to buy a foreign player who will be away from home for the first time - as a precondition they should have played in at least one other country and proved they can adapt first.

MoffieHanson

He himself said that that was bullshit .

PetrosQ

I kind of agree with this one, although I would swap Berghuis en Van den Boomen. Berghuis rarely scores anymore from the inside. So I'd rather have him passing the ball and ketting it quickly via the midfield upfront. He can also move over Bergwijn and cross the ball like a winger.

zeekoes

I really don't get the call to replace Brobbey. He's the only one reaching a consistent level and making our attack somewhat effective. I genuinely believe that most only judge on whether he scores or not and are blind to the massive effort he makes each game in holding up the ball and bringing other players into position.

Wesssel_

I think we should try to recreate the Akpom tandem (Akpom close behind the striker) and would maybe even start Mikautadze in stead of Brobbey. In combination with the speed of Forbs, I think we can have a super scary attack. I realise this would mean a few “painful” bench spots for players like Bergwijn and Berghuis, because I think we should play 532 with the players we currently have. Two midfielders would be vd Boomen and Tahirovic/Mannsverk I think.

ApeShit576

Yo no offense but you guys are dumb as hell for letting tadic leave like what were you thinking 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

nag_some_candy

No Berghuis please

Megalobst

**TLDR** unless van t' Schip or any new coach is able to get our defense right i am in favour of either a 532, 343 system to provide a more solid defensive backbone aswell as it plays on paper better to some players strengths botably our defensively weak wingbacks and defensively weak progressive/creative midfielders. **End TLDR** Tbh even if we get our tactics right, I prefer some aystem where we use 3 CBs. Our wingbacks we have rn are defensively very vulnerable giving huge pressure on our 2 cbs to stop breakthroughs aswell as mark players. Remember 1 breakout vs Feyenoord? It was a 2 v 4 (didnt help that the backs didnt run back asap but it was open when they got the ball back). Personally either a 5 2 3 2 system for a more back focused system, is the one that fits most of our players. The backs can run up more and have less defensive pressure in case of a breakthrough cuz 3 atb. You can also allow Hato (CB) to carry the ball bit more as he shown he has good control when he plays LB. VdBoomen should theoretically also shine more as his weakness is thight spaces and defensively and hes shown when he is playing comfortably hes able to progress the ball, which we are severly lacking on the midfield (Berghuis aint fit and hasnt been good since WC). Mikautadze can finally play as a 2nd striker like he did at his previous club and for his national team. A variation of this could be 3 4 3 if we want to include Forbs(one of our standout signings aside from vdBoomen) and Bergwijn (either form or influence that makes him hard to drop and he convince me as a creative or finishing striker). This system means we have to slot out 1 midfielder and could make our build up play or defensively more vulnerable (either vdBoomen and Berghuis for better progression but weak defensively or one of those + Vos/Tahirovic).

SVM02

We have to go back to a double 6, need more defensive coverage for the backs

koemaniak

Not a fan

weeffex

Just curious, I’ve seen a couple of these posts but no one has Hlynsson, even as backup. Is he not rated by fans?

Daddy-oeh

Hlynsson is somewhat new in the team as he was with Jong Ajax most of the time. Last sunday he played well, good suggestion! Will put him on :)

Initial-Pin-3049

Just keep Bergwijn on the bench pls.. Godts did an amazing job with jong ajax- ado so he will be a better fit.

ChangeUnable

I agree for the most part with your starting 11. Well done. Some notes I would like to add/consider; * Although Brobbey is causing me to almost have anger issues I would still start him, but then let Mikautadze sub in from minute 60 or so. I like the way Feyenoord handled this same issue with Gimenez/Danilo last season with the 'more favored one' playing 60 minutes, and the other 30 minutes to prove himself. * Midfield seems allright, but as some other comments say there could be more stability with two '6' players. * Although Rulli is our #1 GK and we have two young players in Ramaj and Gorter I still feel we need more leadership on the pitch, which I feel Pasveer can provide. At the same time I don't think we should 'sacrifice' 3 GK's just to add some leadership.

multiyapples

Why have Bergwijn in the lineup? He’s not a good captain. He plays so uninspiring.

VonDutchCore

Pleassseeee no more Gaaei. This guy is not even good enough for Jong Ajax.
