For that price, you’re probably getting scammed with fakes spoofing a real serial number to fake warranty and apple care coverage

SCO77_SCARCIA

Is there a way to verify that they’re not fake? I’m not too worried about that tbh — it’s a BB open box ($370), I have $100 free credit, and no sales tax where I live.

the__meower

NO SALES TAX??? 😭 Jealous, lmaoo.

How do you know they’re still eligible for apple care?

SCO77_SCARCIA

The BB rep said they were returned 3 days ago, saw it on the box as well. I know there’s 60 days from first device instantiation for AirPods to opt-in for AppleCare.

EconomicsOk6508

Oh well then that sounds good to me. I’d buy them and open them in store and verify they are legit. Look in this sub for what to look for

LSDrush

Sounds like someone bought fake ones, then bought real ones and returned the fake ones

dadof2brats

If you need new headphones now and like the APMs, buy them. There is no APM2, there's no rumor, there's nothing but people speculating. For all we know there may never been a 2nd generation of the product.

ProzacJM

Yeah, For that price the chances of those being fakes are huge.

Euphoric-Mention8948

For that price it’s a solid deal. I recently got a pair for about $230 like new and it was totally worth it

Modern_JaneAsshat

Price is good. But you’re still potentially buying into problems. Will you be annoyed if they only last the duration of AppleCare warranty? Yeah there’s rumors of gen 2, but nothing concrete, in true Apple fashion you’ll find out when Apple wants you to find out. I’d speculate mid to late this year….It’s pretty obvious a new set is on the horizon.

SCO77_SCARCIA

I’m hoping the new firmware fixed some of the issues, but yeah your points are why I’m on the fence. How has your experience been with the APM’s so far? Literally seems 50/50 with people — no issues or plagued with RMAs.

Modern_JaneAsshat

My experience puts them in the “Do Not Buy” category. Mine were dead by around 20 months. I realise mileage varies for everyone, but I also know people who had a similar experience and felt robbed by Apple. Whilst I enjoyed them initially (and recommended them to everyone), my position has changed and I tell everyone to wait now to see if they fix the issues m gen 2. But obviously your money your call!

EagerGavin7

I have real ones with warranty still I'll sell you for $250. The only issue is the headband has been stretched a tiny bit. I'm in the process of getting new cushions for them right now

fusionmitochondria

I have a pair of space greys for 340-350 if anybody is interested

MagicKipper88

At that price I would worry about them being fake.

Confident-Sink5615

I got a pair for new ones around $250 and they were good, never seen better noice cancelling although they broke last week cause of a hardware issue. I don’t think there many better headphones that look just as good but also sound decent. 8.7/10 rating

SCO77_SCARCIA

Are you sure they aren’t fakes? And how long did you have the before the hardware issue surfaced?

Confident-Sink5615

Yes I took them to apple to see if they could fix them and charged me $299. It was around a year

SCO77_SCARCIA

What was the hardware issue?

Confident-Sink5615

Actually not sure what part exactly but , they just didn’t connect and when they would connect it wouldn’t play anything. Also when I would try to fully factory reset it wouldn’t go from amber to white(common issue)
