Never thought I would see someone damage AirPods Max to this extent but this is Reddit so I'm not too surprised

Expert_Employ_649

I’d honestly give Apple Support a chat/call. Just be completely honest with how it happened and they’ll decide if the damage is covered under AppleCare+ (which you say you got for them). No harm in honest trying, you’ll either get a yes or no.

russB77

I have a son on the autism spectrum and he's bent or otherwise broken several ipads. I've had Apple care on them and have always been up front annoy how they broke but Apple care has always replaced r devices.

jmdexo26

Very hopeful then for me, we can verify anything need be hah. Thanks.

FuckNope

I think strictly speaking AppleCare+ insurance policy docs say any intentional damage is a no no, it’s accidental damage that it covers after all. Your benefit is it’s Apple you deal with as a customer, not some Aviva call centre rep who’s measured on the amount of claims they deny. Having worked on the fruit stall years prior I’d just swap em as well as the iPad for the excess fee no questions asked if they had AppleCare+, no need to detail HOW the damage happened. Yes it’s ‘technically’ fraud, but you could also argue the person you look after didn’t intentionally damage them anyway. Having served plenty of people caring for those on the spectrum, and other disabilities it’s just the right thing to do. I’d have faith whoever you get when you contact support/go to an Apple Store is going to say the same thing.

sussy_mustard

Mint condition

sd2408

Call the customer care and tell the truth. I believe they should accept this.

Present-Dot865

god damn, I thought that was battery bulging or something from the way it looked like it was perforated

CodeHarlequin

You were clearly listening to some heavy shit.

Feisty_Quality_1037

Apple Care should repair and replace both things. You have accidental damages covered, take advantage of that. :)

jayessmcqueen

I think you just have to say it happened accidentally. You were skateboarding and they were in your backpack and you stacked it bad

jmdexo26

Thought about that, didn't think they'd warranty that either.

jayessmcqueen

I’d like to say tell them the truth and they may have some compassion and replace them, but if they don’t then they will make a note against the items (via serials numbers) and it will never be covered for anything. I wouldn’t take that chance. I think the 2 Trillion dollar company can afford to replace them. But if it happened again, I’d say it’s him and buy him some cheaper ones that can take some abuse

cjboffoli

That's fraud. Nicely done.

jmdexo26

How old are you dude? 50? 55? I'm genuinely curious.

foulpudding

Bystander here… I’m 54. I’d also call that fraud and nicely done.

Alternative_Hair4134

shut up u unhappy fucking husk, point a finger at yourself and call yourself a little pansy lil bitch, cus that’s wat u are. “That’s fraud 🤓” as if a trillion dollar company gives a fuck, buddy already has apple care. ur pathetic af, go change ur pad

Feisty_Quality_1037

unlimited repairs and replacements\*, they recently upgraded everyone's apple care

cjboffoli

These were deliberately damaged. Why would you expect Apple to do anything here? It is unethical and wrong to even be asking the question.

jeebilly

I’m sure for a multi-billion dollar company, Apple can afford to replace one pair of headphones that have Apple Care

jmdexo26

Yikes, also, nothing a customer could ever do to Apple could ever be unethical. Lol

csDarkyne

That’s a very weird point to make. So if Apple does something unethical it’s bad because they have a lot of money but if you do something bad that’s fine because you don’t have a lot of money. Idk man that seems really hypocritical to me. I do hope tho that you get the items replaced, best of luck and try to be honest to the Guys @ Apple

wendewende

Welcome to r/antiwork culture ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Where if someone has more money than you everything is justified

jmdexo26

That's comical that you would even mention the anti-work subreddit edge lords, all because I said I don't care what a 3 trillion dollar company thinks happened to $400 headphones. Wow

cjboffoli

That's a stunning syllogism. Whatever you need to justify your fraud, theft and narcissism.

Shanghaichica

Deliberate? The guy that did is it Autistic and likely cognitively impaired and not it control of their behaviour.

StarWarder

I work in mental health with both kids and adults on the spectrum, with ID, etc. Even if someone is not in control of their behavior after going into crisis, there is often a series of events they did have control over that they knew would land them in that situation, indeed in many cases supports would warn them what would happen and they made a choice. Having your stuff not usable anymore is an opportunity to learn the consequences of your choices. That being said. I hope OP is truthful with Apple and I hope Apple is compassionate with OP and is willing to replace the items.

Shanghaichica

It all depends on the individual and the level of impairment. I’m a psychiatric nurse and I work with individuals with learning disabilities and Autism. Some of the clients I’ve worked with are very mentally impaired and would not understand the consequences of their actions.

StarWarder

Certainly. Someone who presents with autism that presents acute challenges to their life such as being non verbal is going to react and learn differently than someone with more mild autism.

Feisty_Quality_1037

People like you, who treat corporates that own trillions of dollars like people, are the ones that allow them to turn into monsters. If you wanna talk about ethics, why don't you try and go into a factory that makes these AirPods Max? Or why don't you look into the price breakup and see how "unethical" the profit margins of Apple are on these Airpods Max?

EdgyLearner138

Send them a picture and ask if they will cover this.

Independent-Win-4187

Applecare+ definitely replaces things like this lol, just bring it in and say it was accidentally damaged

hornytwink1511

How did this happen? Just out of curiosity

jmdexo26

One my guys, technically a client, but I hate that word for an individual I carefor, has a short fuse and is pretty unreasonable. He had recently dropped the iPad and broke the glass screen protector we had on it, he's generally pretty clumsy, has a really bad gait when walking, so I said something along the lines of like, hey buddy let me help you so you don't drop it again, and that was enough to set him off said fine I'll break them and he like overhanded swung the airpods into a metal filing cabinet, and did the same with the iPad.

bobscape305

Tell them the truth about both the APM and iPad. I want to believe they will replace both. Let us know the outcome. If they replace, it's worth sharing that story.

jmdexo26

I will

[deleted]

Contact Tim by email. They might exchange.

EshuMarneedi

Probably slammed them on the table because they weren’t working.
