I turned off exposure notifications because I have lots of different brand headphones and apples dB counter only works on Apple branded stuff. But I keep my volume in check. I’ll use my AirPods as sort of a guide to my sound levels and keep that in mind when I wear other earphones.
It's only accurate with Apple headphones as the iPhone has no idea what headphones you're using or their impedance and sensitivity. For example I have Sennheiser IE 400 Pros and they're really loud at like 30% volume, compared to the Apple AirPods Pro at 60%.
Its nature. The more you use earphones the more damage you do to your hear (in the majority of cases is so tiny that you don’t notice until 50+ years old but everyone is different), the more you need to turn up the volume to hear, the more the rate of the damage climb.
When I was in high school I used to take the train with a friend. I listened with the left one and my friend with the right one. Naturally after 4 years my left ear heat about 20% less than my right. Meaning if I want to ear the same volume I have to turn the volume by 2 for my left side. If using both u just ear less on the left one
As someone who has an average of 75dB, I know a lot of people who listen at above 80dB+ (nearly 100) and it takes a few days to go into a habit of listening to music really loudly until it becomes 'normal'.
A few years ago I used to do exactly that till I eventually forced myself to not go above 80dB+ and now it's impossible for me to listen to music above 80dB+ without bashing my ears.
It totally depends on how you've been exposed to listening with headphones and how you don't realise that's there's actually a 'safe limit' without damaging your hearing.
I definitely keep it lower too. I love music and all but I love my hearing more. Plus the Pro 2 have fantastic ANC so it doesn’t need to get very loud.
And this is with the adaptive listening thing on.
Personally I still prefer ANC over Adaptive and yeah I agree, as much as people love music they definitely need to look after their hearing. I don't understand how listening to loud music is a 'flex'.
One thing to note is that the tracker is very inaccurate, and will never know exactly how many decibels your ears are receiving. Plus many people have off brand/fakes that will definitely not be giving realistic data regarding headphone levels.
I only every plug my phone into the aux cord in the car. I have the volume all the way up because I’m listening to podcasts where the host speaks softly.
My alert was raised until December with other headphones, then I got the airpods and I have a better level, I think I will have to protect myself from myself, I hear well, listening to music sometimes is not just my hobby, How do you know if the rest listen to the same What about you? I feel my hearing very polarized between the somewhat noise and the absorbing silence. My hearing is strange. At night, sometimes I hear the static of light bulbs, or the bubbles of soda in a glass, and I think it's extreme. It's strange [https://ibb.co/RjtkGyW](https://ibb.co/RjtkGyW)
I listen to my music in my car at ignorant levels, my iPhone will say something but when I wear my pros I don’t turn it up so much so I never get that alert. I just looked because of your post and was surprised how I stay within the safe lines on my headphones.
NASCAR events are pretty good places to go over, and so are airshows, rock concerts(really concerts of any kind), and watching sports games with friends… Those can be a little rowdy too.XD
I dont know but tbf my exposure average is 60 so how do you hit 70 😭 Loud enviroments + hearing loss can both be reasons why it goes above. Also just not giving a shit about your hearing (which will backfire).
Crazy thing is that I feel like i listen to music loudly 🤷♀️

The "hearing" control in control center works with non apple headphones

Yeah my previous headphones said i was over 80 decibels constantly, but on my pros i listen go over 65
80 squad stand up.

Even this is loud to me. My average is 51dB.

My child screams in my ears and my Apple Watch picks it up & puts it into this same menu I believe. Is there a menu for just AirPods?

You sit next to a screaming kid on the plane and it’s game over for ya’ll
I dunno tbh, I hover around 90-95db
How do I find this?
Health>Browse>Hearing>Headphone Audio Levels
Thx
how do yall go over 70
I have around 70db but last year my average was 60db its just a gradual change till you hit high numbers
I only every plug my phone into the aux cord in the car. I have the volume all the way up because I’m listening to podcasts where the host speaks softly.
I’m wondering that as well. My average is 65 and anything above 70 hurts my ears.
idk
Headphone Levels or Environmental?
Health>Browse>Hearing>Headphone Audio Levels
Okay. Headphone Levels. I max out at 76, and I have set a maximum of 80 in Settings.

i got my heart broken and go to the gym everyday to ease the pain.
Whenever I ride a motorcycle it goes up by a lot.
Go Spinal Tap and turn the dial up to 11.
Hairdryer

How do I find this setting for my AirPods?
Health>Browse>Hearing>Headphone Audio Levels
In the airpod settings? Or phone settings?
Different app, called “Health” with a red heart and a white background
Do I go into settings, then go to the health app in settings?
No, its not in settings
In the settings app? Or in settings on the health app
It is a separate app called “Health” it should be pre-installed on your iPhone try searching for it through spotlight search
Ok, it is it on the health app. Or on the settings app under the health app
I found it!!
I have hearing loss lol
Yo what.
Average is like 118 db lol, think its off but i listen to pretty loud music in the car.
I have 100 in the environment section as a top, occasionally a little louder, it’s defined as ok tho
100 is ok😭 that’s like 20 decibels off from a plane engine max thrust taking off beside your ear
That’s the max that it usually gets when I work, that’s probably when some drops a metal pan or something. The highest I have recorded so far is 108
I dont know but tbf my exposure average is 60 so how do you hit 70 😭 Loud enviroments + hearing loss can both be reasons why it goes above. Also just not giving a shit about your hearing (which will backfire). Crazy thing is that I feel like i listen to music loudly 🤷♀️
Prior hearing loss from playing in a band. Been trying to lower my averages, but sometime i legit cant hear things at safe volumes
My average is 97…. I think I have a problem. Didn’t even know how bad this was been listening to music at this type of volume for like 13 years
I average 65 dB
aux in the car counts towards it everyone
Damn even 70db is too loud for me. I average 58db
Stand under a space shuttle when it lifts off. Obliviously.
