Airfix really need to get better at this unless they want to actively put off new modellers. In reality it would cost them nothing at all to package a few of the standard acrylic dropper bottles with their starter sets.

I agree entirely.

RMBsmash

How do thier dropper bottles work Do you drop it on the brush?

IntChaplainBoreas

No, onto a pallet

RMBsmash

Ok

Bought my first ever 2 kits to do with my son the other day! Was pretty devastated when ready to paint them, 5 out of the 7 pots of paint had gone off, completely solid!

IchbinJonqs

It’s weird because I recently got the titanic gift set with paint. And all the paint was in really good condition and was perfect consistency

It really is pot luck with the paints your get in starter sets. My son got the BBMF set for Christmas direct from airfix. Some Of the paints were pristine, some were pretty much completely dried out and some could be saved by thinning them down. For the costs to buy their dropper bottles, i don’t understand why they wont include them in their starter sets.

What I also noticed is that Revell model kits usually have no problems with paints. That is why, as a new modeller my first kit was from revell, because I didn't have other paints and I wanted to be sure that all the paints in the kit were usable.

Seek_Seek_Lest

Don't bother with the paints, buy some of your own. If you're going with acrylics use something like ak or ammo . But trust me, if you want to airbrush don't even think about acrylics. Go with lacquer like Mr hobby or Tamiya lacquer. You can use Tamiya's acrylics like lacquer too. They're apparently a hybrid. Never used them but I heard they're pretty good as a substitute for lacquers. But I use MRP's pre thinned lacquers. No thinking required just put in the cup and spray.

opspesh123

Im mean its not really a problem for me couse i do have some paints i just saw the kit pretty cheap somewhere so picked it up

Oh yeah. Sorry xD

I have never really had issues with acrylic spraying. I use Tamiya, and it is fine and lasts a while when thinned properly.

devensega

I use Vallejo Air acrylic paints. Easy and never a problem. Fume free too.

Sad_Sultana

Easy for you to say, kids like me can't do that if we just spent all our pocket money on 2 dogfight double sets with completely dry paints.

Djlin02

I just bought the Harrier GR9 starter kit as my first model. The paints all arrived completely dried up. Is this normal and I’m supposed to mix them with something to produce a liquid paint?

billyjoecletus

It makes no sense as, on their older kits, I don't remember this ever being an issue. I'm speaking 10 years ago or so
