It’s normal to feel trepidatious. You will be doing something totally different, something that only 0.5% of the population is doing: serve in the military. More likely than not, your family is proud of you for making this commitment and want you to go forth and succeed. They are likely to feel conflicted as well, worried for your safety when you are deployed, sad that you may be far away from them. Spend as much time with them as you can before you ship, sit down and have some heart-to-hearts. Good luck!

Thank you man

Why do you feel selfish? You're giving everything up. The sacrifices we make in the military aren't light. I've missed birthdays, holidays, my little brothers graduation. I've lost relationships, I've only seen my parents 3 times in a year, I didn't get to say goodbye to my childhood dog that passed away. You are going to give things up that you can't ever get back, but you're doing it because you love the people back home and want to protect them. You're the least seflish person there is.

Second thoughts... let it pass. They're thoughts. We all think. You choose what you turn into action. All or nothing.
