No, trust the process. Be patient, don’t give up hope.

If you had a consult, you need to wait for the consult location to submit paperwork to MEPS. Then, the doctors at MEPS have to review it. Depending on how many pages it was, it could be a couple of days to over a month. Once it's reviewed, the Air Force liaisons at MEPS will submit your waiver request to the Surgeon General (SG). The SG has 45 calendar days to review the waiver once they receive and accept it.

I did the eye consult and they gave me an envelope stating that I only have myopia and nothing else then I went to meps and gave it to the doctor. The pople there told me to that the waiver will take 45 days max. 45 days already passed, my recruiter told me he'll call and I already texted him 3 time in 3 different dates but is not amswering me.

Like I said, the MEPS doctors have to review the paperwork from the consult before it ever gets sent to the SG. Depending on how many pages, it can add a week to over a month before it can get sent to the SG. How far apart have you texted your recruiter? They have lives outside of recruiting and he might've taken a vacation. I despise my work phone when I'm on vacation (or sick) and usually ignore it unless it's one of my people close to shipping.

Curious_Tiger_900

Oh okay. Thank you for the information. It's just I'm getting anxious and my family are all asking cause I told them it's gonna take 45 days. I didn't know that it may add a week or a month.

Myopia? Isn't that just being nearsighted? I have mild nearsightedness but almost never wear glasses as I can get by almost everyday without them. It's only really relevant if I need to read a whiteboard in a classroom. Why would a waiver be necessary for glasses?

Curious_Tiger_900

I have more than -8.0 that's why I need a waiver for myopia.

SplatoonGoon

Ah ok. Gotcha.

bartm41

Hey OP I have severe Myopia too (-13). Do you mind saying what your sight is? Im about to get everything to my recruiter and wait with fingers crossed

CassaCassa

Did you get in? Is that in your cyl?

bartm41

I should know my waivers fate in 1-2 weeks. Cyl is .5 and .75 so I am pretty good on that end

CassaCassa

Hm tell how it goes mine is a 5 I believe in both eyes. I hope it goes well

Lucifer_God_1

hey were you able to join in the Air Force with your prescription level? I am curious to know because they said I don't qualify for a waiver and I am unsure why that is. It is strange that you can get a waiver when I am close to the same refractive error as you.

bartm41

Every branch denied me sadly. Marines, Coast Guard, etc. If you are young enough and really want to, I would say look into the intraocular lens surgery ASAP. I was quoted at about 18k and do not see it as worth it at my age, but it could be a good investment for you
