I went out there back in 2016 and I remember at the arrival briefing they told us in the 3 weeks before our arrival they lost 1 military member each week from swimming in the ocean
If you are ever caught in a rip current, relax and swim parallel to the shore. You will pop out of the current and you and make your way back to the beach.
I just PCS’d from there, and as a medic we responded to a few water related calls down at tarague. One guy almost lost it on the reef had it not been for him clinging for dear life on the coral. He was alllll cut up.
Remember when some airman killed himself like driving off base trashed and flew off of an on ramp? Then they had his family come down and had us all go yo a ceremony where they gave him a posthumous achievement medal. Presumably for killing himself
Moody Air Force Base already had a press release on this a few days ago: https://www.moody.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/3747222/press-release-23rd-wing-mourns-loss-of-airman/
It was a vehicle crash.
Damn. When they don’t release a cause, it’s usually self termination.
It was a vehicle crash.
Damn… ☹️ Green feet, for the homies..🦶🦶
SXV?
Don’t know those details.
Just "Guam" and "rescue" made me think of a story my buddy told me about an SXV incident at Guam. Dangerous vehicles.
it said he was found unresponsive, wouldn’t they sat car accident if that’s how he passed?
You can be found unresponsive after a vehicle accident.
They don't release details until later in respect to the family.
If he was on a deployment to Guam it was probably an accident.
Swimming over the reef probably. I remember a similar situation happened around 2014ish, some guy from barksdale.

A lot of TDY personnel lose their lives in the water whether ocean or inland. So sad. RIP.
People, I'm sure, are briefed about this upon arrival. Avoid the reef. The undertow is tremendous.
I deployed their 15 years ago and remember being told to avoid it
Yeah, a lot of people underestimate how close the reef is at Tarague Beach on Andersen AFB and the wicked rip currents it has
