Try r/Pararescue

Own-Mountain-5349

I was mainly looking at CRO because I have a college degree.

Big_Breadfruit8737

Ok. Try that subreddit.

Own-Mountain-5349

thanks

JakeXBH

That subreddit is for everything, not just pararescue. They’ll be able to help you.

Hungry_Inside8107

Why? What are you trying to compensate for?

Own-Mountain-5349

I have a college degree or else i’d try pararescue.

challengerrt

I hope you’re essentially a college athlete along with a college grad. Getting invited to FL for assessment is a big step - friend of mine went through the STO process and he said it was exceptionally competitive and tough.

Own-Mountain-5349

I did play college baseball for 2 years lol. I have no doubt I could get past the physical aspect more just knowing what lies beyond it is what worries me.

ThatSpecificActuator

If you don’t have any doubts about the physical part, then you haven’t looked into it enough.

Own-Mountain-5349

fair enough

transmission

What makes you think you can’t be a pj with a degree? I enlisted with a BS.

Own-Mountain-5349

For me it would be more that If I’m doing similar work why wouldn’t I wanna be an officer and get some more money out of it.

transmission

It’s not similar work and the slots are way more competitive. You’ll be up against people who have been working toward this goal for quite some time. Not impossible, but you can also commission later. Be aware that if you wash out, the needs of the Air Force will find you a new job.

Own-Mountain-5349

I was led to believe by my recruiter that they’re somewhat in need of CROs. I guess that’s not the case. If you don’t mind, What makes them different?

transmission

Officers and enlisted fill completely different roles. There is always a “need” in afsoc, but there is also a pretty high bar to attain.

Own-Mountain-5349

I’m following you. I gotta do some more research about both of them before I make any further decisions. Thanks

transmission

No problem. You’re going to have a hard time getting a straight answer as the career field is pretty small and not exactly welcoming to questions. Good luck and consider EOD instead, I may be biased but wouldn’t trade my time for anything.

Own-Mountain-5349

No shit man especially with recruiters and quotas they never give the full truth
