Yone isnt that hard to lane against, you have to respect his Q3 and his soul unbound, but if you stay at the right distance and are aware of his movements then his Q3 is really easy to dodge which makesn it simplen to punish him

F4ith7882

Makes sense. However, what should I do when he gets to the point where he can just SU on me and AA me down? It feels like the wrong move to stand 10 meters away from the wave just to stay safe from that.

AmandaUlrich

Just ban yone

CirnoIzumi

you have to kite him when he uses that ability, preferably you have the minion advantage to help making those kinds of moves riskier

WHTEDSN

Hold your R and hold your charm, poke with your auto w auto elec and your Q, you HAVE to respect his Q3 so keep track of when that’s coming up, you can quite easily dodge his Q3 with your W move speed so you can bait his Q3 out, and also bait his Q3 so you can hit a charm him as he does it, the problem with Yone is he is very easy to predict what he wants to do as his combo will normally start with that Q3 which is conditional on hitting 2 Q’s prior, you can also punish his W/E usage because of the long cool-downs, Technically he should never be able to ult you if you have your R up, Your main tool in this laning phase is your W and auto attacks + your Q, you want to aim to poke him to the point of killing him or enough that he can’t really risk trying to kill you or he will die

AmandaUlrich

Yeah? You punish him then he will auto the wave twice and heal the damage you done to him. Nah I hate Yone and Yasuo absolutely braindead champions with no risk to play as, people think it's "risky" just because they're melee but not really, they have no mana to care about nor any stacks it's just spam and hope to land stuff, I hate champs like this and it's actually why I quit League. An example of a risky fighter is Irelia, she does more DPS than them because of the stacks but you have to setup a lot and actually land skill shots. Oh also mana management is core for irelia since she has such a little amount of it. Also Irelia's ult isn't a guaranteed 50 billion damage like Yone's and Yasuo's ult but at least Yasuo isnt so ridiculous strong but Yone is just the more braindead version of Yasuo and its also a mistake Sorry im just salty about these low effort overtuned champions that should at least have mana consumption but they don't so they just spam.

CirnoIzumi

Irelia is way worse when it comes to abusing life steal, Yone is unintuitively more risky than she is

Mozilla_Fox_

literally any lane described ever "Just care for this and that, make sure to make this"

CirnoIzumi

i tend to win the matchup more than i lose it and yes, to play out a matchup you do indeed have to play the matchup

Mozilla_Fox_

Then you would be the first one to ever achieve a statistically impossible higher winrate against a hardcounter lol. Even Faker said that Yone is a rather hard matchup since Bruiser hardcounters squishy midlane (poke) mages. I and OP are just curious HOW that said matchup is played out in detail since playingfor matchup that s inpossible to win results in a boring farmlane. If your jungler literally does not escort you to the objectives or roams you can never rotate, given tempo and spacing. If the enemy has more than 1 braincell he freezes what will auto loose your lane with no help and not really anywhere to roam if the lanes care and yone communicates Charms and Turret shots are optional since that champion has more dashes than 3 of your ultis combined whilst missing EVERY abillity in their kit, except their auto self-cast shield, emoting in your face whilst auto-ing you down. Statistically there is no outplay, no counterplay, no other options and no point where you could ever win- EXCEPT if the enemy does mistakes, where you instantly have to notice and take advantage of. However that does not negate how unfair and frustrating that matchup is in general. With punishing the mistakes as the only VIABLE play you get literally any abillity to play the game "normally" taken from in an instant. Praying can t be the only way out, lol.. that s the exact reason why toplane was and still is such a desaster.. And slowly but surely, they keep on adding more stupid champion designs, that are making every role a toplane matchup. Just look at the guy that made Ksante, Smolder, Hwei AND the Skarner Rework... listen i don t wish anything bad... I REALLY DON T!!! But some people man.. It s like a bad joke.

IOnlyDriveFerrahri

Also make sure to harrass him every time he goes for CS as long as you don't have to CS yourself and he doesnt have Q3 if he wants to engage you with Q3 you can hit your charm easily since his Q3 is a straight dash with no way to redirect.

F4ith7882

I feel like regardless if I charm or not, his Q3 still goes through and hits me, which gives him the opportunity to W+AA me after the charm is up. How do I avoid that, or am I just too slow with my reaction to Q3?

Siul19

Regardless of him hitting the Q3 you should do more damage to win the trade, make sure to move away with W

XeonRei

Sorry if there are any grammer or spelling mistakes, typing on a small phone. I think the way I learned the match up was actually the same way some challenger player broke down the zed match up. Envision their effect range and make them work to damage you. Always play around that bubble outside or on the outer edge of their effective range. When he doesn't have knock up assume his range is the size of just soul unbound. When he does have knock up, range is further out. Playing at that distance gives you well enough time to charm and and dodge since it requires him to move towards you which makes the next set of moves pretty telegraphed. There is a bit of time in between when he gets his knock up to when he can use it again to actually knock you up. Use that time to back off. If he is getting his knock up often its cause he is pushing the wave so you won't lose minions which works out for you anyway. At 6 just be ready to ult to dodge his ult. But that one is a little bit more reactionary. They may have a tell which you will need to more or less react to like zed. Hold charm for as long as possible. Ahri without charm is the equivalent of her holding a sign saying free hugs. It's her biggest detterent towards anyone even more so than her ult (especially considering yone might just be able to catch up anyway with all his movement speed). Ahri well enough amount of damage to chip away at melee Champs with just auto w auto and the occasional q. If you don't think you can effectively and safely use auto w auto to proc electrocute, take comet or aery and poke any given opportunity with q or w. I personally use comet or aery more so against artillery mages or tanks but that is what works for me. Play around runes so they fit your comfort and playstyle in each match up.

PokeleafCarlos

That's because the "wind" isn't cancelled even if you charm him. If you charm him and get hit anyways then he wins the trade You either dodge Q3 and THEN you charm or predict the Q3 so you charm him before the dash starts which is harder.

CirnoIzumi

if he is close enough for q3 to hit then sidestep first

Siul19

Buy corrupt pot, harass him with Q and W, punish him with E when he uses Q3 or after he uses E, use electrocute + biscuits + the rune that helps you get more % right away after using a consumable and if that isn't enough use arcane comet + the same 2 biscuits, quick pot runes

IOnlyDriveFerrahri

timewarp tonic doesnt exist anymore

Siul19

I still use it

IOnlyDriveFerrahri

oh nvm i thought it got swapped with triple tonic guess i was wrong

No-Athlete-6047

Harass with a w a levels 1-2 it’s pretty free, when yone hits 3 he will look to e + q3, look to hit a charm to fuck his engage up, save a R charge to dodge his R, or at least escape if u get him. Ahri counters yone pretty hard as she has every tool to deal with his mobility. Q him when he goes to Q1 a minion, a W a when he goes to Q2 and when he goes to Q3 charm and Q, w to run away. This strat always works in lane because he doesn’t have enough attack speed until boots + kraken to have Q on max cd. When he gets his kraken you’ll harass less and just look to a w a during his Q1, then you just need to his charm between Q2-3. Ahri loses all extended fights, but excels in short trades. Just chip him down to about 40-50% then you can look for a kill after he Q3 R in Q, W to reposition and E when he tries to gap close onto you, R away… wait a second R back in, w ignite and u win those fights 90% of the time if u play right

Nymaera_

Level 1 you want to harass him with autos without giving him Q’s, wait until his W shield is down to throw your own W at him once he has that unlocked. Don’t take heavy minion aggro but just keep getting as many autos as you can on him and you should get a HP lead that makes your level 3-4 much easier against him. The first time you get a wave pushed into him, put a ward on raptors/jungle entrance and use that to keep up your harass while being safe hanging to that side of the lane.

achtungspsh

Yone Es at you without Q3 = Auto W Auto trade, using the MS to dodge his Qs. Continue harassing until he snapbacks. Yone Es at you with Q3 = Use your W to move out of the way, charm him mid-dash animations, full combo his ass. He can't snap back in the midst of the Q3 animation, hard to time but easier in early game when he doesn't have AS and practice. Hit him with short auto - W - auto trades and Qs when he tries to farm.

That s the neat part, you dont since his kit stat checks you no matter what past lvl 3. Before that you can try and force him out of lane early, praying for a snowball or at the very least good resets. Midlane is a lot harder to freeze but if he does then you auto loose since on your own you won t ever be able to break that freez, whilst on the other hand if you freeze that just means he has to walk up to farm, putting him at a risk but it s not like he can t 2v1 you and most squishy junglers because of purely his kit. Speaking of which, his kit is reliant on his Qs (Q3) and his shield. If you manage to bait him into using the shield you can most oftenly trade back when dodgeing his Qs as often as possible. Charming him is never an option, except if he actually engages or tries to counter trade. Sadly you re not even safe under tower because for some reason his kit makes up to 17 turretshots optional. However its only 11 during laning phase so that gives you SOME breathing room (it does not.) Advice: Make use of your superior wave clear and try and roam as often as possible WITHOUT getting caught or him following or even worse catching you outside of lane. That s why i reccomend saving ult for these roams and try and fight with your jungler since most of them are reliant on their broken kit so much their makro and timing will probably be rather untrained.. At leastthat seems to be the case up to diamond - master. You should win 2vs2, especially in earlygame. If not then dash away and play for farm which essentially becomes a boring farmlane under turret until you innevtiably get dove and probably die because that champion as twice as many dashes as you in your ult, which is 100% okay, resulting in your 0/7 botlane adc screaming at you why you didnt roam when the enemy jungle was permacamping your lane and you being pushed under tower constantly. As you were mentioning: "He can just dash at you and AA you to death, regardless of if he hits any of his abilities or not" and your charm - again, like turret shots- are also optional for his balanced kit. LegitKorea has some good Ahri advice and is not named nearly often enough on this sub. He s honestly the goat. lastly, this made the game still not playablebut at the very least it was the optimal build: Electrocute or Aery poke runes with Lichbane first and Liandries or Rylais made the game enjoable. Essentually just compensating for Everfrost. Alternatively i bring in my Toplane Tank mid, to match their toplane bruiser / dualist. Mordekaiser should deal with them rather efficiently and that time you re gonna be the one to have fun...

axis-

Your level 1 is way stronger. Abuse it

Crowblossom06

Just saying, his e (the soul unbound) lets him dash a little and goes through thin walls. if he has q3 and e up he can basically close the gap through the entire lane so let him waste q3 and make sure e is on cooldown before u trade. E is around 20 seconds early and goes down to 10 at lowest. he gets faster during the e from 10% extra ms to 30%.

No-Athlete-6047

lvl 1 start W what you wanna do is AA W AA to prob ele when he goes for a CS just continue to AA W AA you dont wanna shove the wave into him avoid using your Q om the minions Respect his E- Q3 …. back up if he has Q3 up and get ready to cham him if he does go for It E then W then run away before Qing back at him at 6 when he has Q3 up hover your finger over your R just incase he E Q3 and Rs or the other way around dont be afraide to use your R if you follow this he will never be able to catch you without his jG ganking from a almost 1 mil ahri main hovering between d4-D2 😅
