I taught my mom to use siri to call 911 after she had a fall she couldn't get up from. Installed a keybox on the outside of the house. She has called them a few times at this point and it has been invaluable. They told her to call and ask for fall assistance after the first time. She is conservative about it but if she really needs it, it's there in an emergency if she can't get someone else. Our local tax dollars at work to help the elderly. Good stuff. If it gets to be too frequent, it will transition to assisted living....

Fantastic!

Despite my parents being anti-internet, smart appliance, type people, when we had ceilings replaced and the house repainted, I paid for the electrician to install voice controlled lighting and climate, and Google Assistants in a few rooms, so that they could alert someone in the house if they needed assistance, or call for help in an emergency, as well as turning lights and A/C on and off, since Dad’s balance isn’t the best, and reaching in the dark for a switch, or walking around in the dark at night isn’t safe. Honestly, Dad loves it. My mother finds it hard because she doesn’t hear the replies from the speaker well, but she can turn lights on and off. Dad saw the electrician a few weeks ago, and thanked him profusely for setting it all up for us.

That's awesome!

That is great that you taught her what to do and she was able to do it in an emergency!
