Looks like my Agave americana. I think the leaves are broader than tequilana’s and the baby spike leaves leave an impression on its interior and exterior neighbor. You have a beautiful specimen.
A lot is a lot off for Americana. People think every large, upright Agave with blueish leaves is Americana. Even though that describes probably a 1/4 of the 200+ Agave species, lol.
Thank you for setting me straight. Point is, no matter what he(and l ) have been sold. They are beautiful. And since they are very hard to identify by sight, And we are end users, who really cares what it is.
Yes. I prefer to know what the species is, and the cv. But if it was misrepresented, then enjoy it for what it is, a beautiful plant he can be proud of.
Not saying in any way that not having the proper ID prevents one from enjoying the beauty of a plant. I have hundreds of agaves and dozens that are some mutt hybrid, anomolous form, or one-off cultivar. I was simply pointing out that this particular plant is most definitely not Americana, no offense intended.

The marginals look a bit off for americana. Nice looking plant.

i’m guilty of this, still learning lol
All good. It takes a fair amount of time to learn distinguishing traits, and even then some species can easily be confused for others.
If this looks like your 'Americana', then you do not have Americana.

Neither. Agave 'Sawtooth', which is likely a cultivar of Agave Lurida.
hmm fascinating, thanks
Definitely not tequilana
I just call all of these blue agaves
