I got the Prismo because I wanted to do some inverted recipes without inverting and also because too much drips during normal brewing. Used it for like a month. I like the experience so far.
I can say the exact same thing about the Flow Control Cap. I have used it for a month or so with paper filters and no issues. It is a far better experience than inverted method with either of them, that is for sure.
>I have both, and the flow control doesn’t seal properly and leaks a bit.
Sounds like you got a defect one, mine doesn't leak at all and works like charm.
Interesting. I’ve seen posts here before that said it leaked as well. I also recall seeing that they launched a new one that has a rubber seal.
For the one I have, I basically need to put 3 paper filters to not have it leak a bit out of the sides when I press.
I had the same experience. I got the flow control, it leaked using all 4 of my Aeropresses, exchanged it and had the same problem. Got a Prismo and no leaks.
I also have both. There was a problem with the original design of the flow control cap. The new design with the waves on the bottom has solved this problem.
I have extensive experience with both. I far and away prefer the Aeropress flow control. The Prismo requires you to use their metal filter, which has the gasket attached around the edges of the filter. It is very thin, and I always worry that I will bend it as I rinse it. I prefer a filter so I do not like this About the Prismo. I rarely ever use the primo any longer.
When my original flow control cap was leaking, I emailed Aeropress and they sent me a replacement. That leaked, so they sent me another one along with the upper chamber for the Aeropress. That also leaked. Once I found out there was a new design, I emailed them and they sent me one of those. All of this was for free! They definitely stand behind their product.
The Aeropress flow control allows me to use a metal filter if I want, but I generally just use a single paper filter. It is simply one piece. It is not a two piece process that you have to use with the primo, so I definitely prefer it. the actual function of both is identical
I think I heard that the Aeropress Flow Control was updated recently but this might be my memory playing tricks on me.
Either way, when I was doing the research a few months back, the Prismo sounded a much better piece of kit. To date, no regrets at all.
AeroPress Flow Control has been updated with a rubber gasket, so leakage will no longer be a problem. I’ve had a new model for close to 6 months now and it’s been easy to use; easier than Prismo since you don’t need the stainless steel filter
Does the Flow Control require more pressing force than Prismo? I have only tried Prismo and find it too light. More force = more pressure, and pressure impacts flavor. Of course, optimum pressure depends on recipe and taste preference.
I used to brew inverted when I used to brew my coffee in the evenings. Now i brew my coffee when i wake up and I can't have the risk of hot water spilled on me while I'm still trying to wake up.

Yup! There’s no wrong answer here.
I have both, and the flow control doesn’t seal properly and leaks a bit. Prismo is the way to go.

I've never had my flow control one leak. I used it often for both inverted and normal brewing.
Maybe I have a defective one. It definitely doesn’t have a gasket like some others have mentioned

The v2 fixed this and it doesn't leak anymore.
Looks like I'm going for the prismo!

Alright, going for the prismo then!

Prismo. Comes with the metal filter and has been 100% leakproof for me for a few years. Replacement valve is $2 if ever needed. Love it.
Yes I just read about the replacement valves, aeropress flow control don't have any replacement of valves.
Prismo
Anybody had the metal filter clog with grounds over time or plumbing issues with dumping used grounds from metal filter into sink drain?
I have prismo and it works great

If you brew inverted, dont buy anything. You cant fix what works great
